    Great review! I just bought the A800s yesterday and I was also pleasantly surprised at the sound and ANC performance. The customizations available with the app are enough to suit any listener. I call these "sleepers" because I think they will be ignored by many people for their bland design, but the performance is right up there with the big players in this category. Thanks again!

      I just got these, after taking the plunge, agree this is a sleeper.,although I haven't heard of other makes, this one sounds really balanced and has clean treble . If you need more bass I use a 10 band eq, just use the bass boost slider a little, as it's better than the technics app one due more lower bass boost. Anc is very good. I don't notice any artificial reverb that another reviewer say. All nice and quality made, very comfortable as well.

    Great video, thank you. I’m in the market for noise cancelling headphones now and struggling to choose. Listen to xm4 and I didn’t like them. Loved the AirPods max but I’m worried about the condensation issue as I keep reading about it everywhere. I thought the h95 were great but not better than AirPods max. I couldn’t find these to listen to at the moment but can get them from Amazon. Would you say my worries about the max are baseless or would you go for these instead and maybe superfly dragon red for the same price. Thanks again for great video.

    • @CarefulOptimist
      @CarefulOptimist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So far, the condensation has not been my reality with the AirPods Max. Or maybe I simply have not noticed it. So, I would say you should not worry too much about that. I think the APM is a batter bargain especially given that you can find it at discount price these days. Otherwise, give the Technics EAH-A800 a try. Buy it with a good return policy and see if it fits for you. It's also lighter than the AirPods Max.
      One tip: you will really enjoy the Spatial audio features of the AirPods Max

    • @CarefulOptimist
      @CarefulOptimist  ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure BW PX7 S2. However, if you are a bass head, the Technics might be tempting. You can tweak the bass of the PX7 S2 to some extent. Tips: if you are listening to music from the mobile app of BW, the sound is much richer. That’s another reason to go for the PX.

  • @cruisindownthestreetinmy6490
    @cruisindownthestreetinmy6490 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel as though people tend to conflate the idea that a good design = fashionable design. I don't think the Technics are in any way bland, in fact I think they have a very nice balance between retro and modern styles. They're classic, not "bland".
    I like to think of it like fast fashion - the sleek, plasticky designs and bright colours that are so main stream will not stand the test of time compared to the quality, structural build of vintage and sustainable fashion. Personally, I think the Technics are very pretty to look at; metal, brushed aluminium, (admittedly, faux) leather and not overly plastic... It's like buying a piece of vintage tech, but with the modern stuff inside.
    I like their look anyway, and I think You Kim's modelling was perfect at highlighting their classic look :D
    Anyway, I've bought mine and have been rewatching this video (for at least the third time... lol...) in excitement of their arrival! Your channel is extremely underrated (though I'm excited to have found a hidden gem) and I just adore the quality of your videos. The jazz is an awesome touch!
    Also, nice glasses!

    • @CarefulOptimist
      @CarefulOptimist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha. Well said! And thank you for the kind words about Kim’s presence as well as the quality of the channel. As for your take on the design, well, I see what you mean. But let me know what you think of the durability when you eventually start to use it. Will it be stronger than the XM4 or Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2?

    This Panasonic Technics A800 has very good sound and ANC and it's general volume and bass volume is much stronger and powerfull compared to Sony MX4 or Bose QC45. But to listen my favorite music genre electronic music and techno i prefer to use the Panasonic RB-M700B because they have somethning the A800 and other expensive head phones on the market does not have at the moment: A Bass reactor vibration system ! I really love the bass reactor vibration system very very very much !!!! It feels like you have a 2.1 subwoofer hifi system. Panasonic Technics A800, Sony MX4, Bose QC45 feels more like an 2.0 weak bass hifi system without any subwoofer. For a very very very noisy ambient or music without any bass (for example old music) the A800 is the best. So I change my headphones depending on the situation. I use public transportation and have a very noisy neighbor that is the reason I own the Technics A800 and the Bose QC45 (only to watch TV and video games but not music). For music I use my 3 pairs of Panasonic RB-M700B. I hope Panasonic will continue to offer and develop headphones with bass reactor vibration system because I can't listen to techno and electronic music on head phones without a bass reactor anymore. The sony Sony MDR-XB950N1 Extra Bass head phones from 2017 have a bass reactor vibration system (my first head phones i had with a bass vibration system) but the new Sony WHXB910NB Extra Bass from 2021 don't has a bass vibration system anymore imo.

Being able to wear my headphones comfortably draped around my neck is actually really important to me. Some headphones when you try to drape them around your neck with the pads rotated flat on your upper chest, they still manage to push against your throat. Are these that way, or are they comfortable and don't press against your throat?

    Tech companies claiming they are manufacturing out of recycled this and ecological that - is unfortunately mostly green-washing. It's almost better to go with companies that don't make such claims because they are honest - and I really believe Panasonic are for the most part, honest. Personally I judge a company on how their packaging is - for example I've purchased a lot of Sonos products recently, and been very impressed that almost every part of their packaging has been cardboard.
