- Sharjah is the third largest and third most populous city in the United Arab Emirates, forming part of the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area.
It is the only emirate that overlooks the coastline on the Persian Gulf to the west and the Gulf of Oman (Indian Ocean) to the East.
Sharjah may be less popular than its counterpart, Dubai, but it has a lot to offer…… From beaches and buildings to malls and museums, the authentic experiences of the region will steal your heart.
Here are the top places to visit in Sharjah:
1) Al Noor Mosque - located on the Khaled lagoon at the Buhaira Corniche. It is of Turkish Ottoman design and was influenced by the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Turkey. It is one of the mosques open to the public in Sharjah, which has over 600 total. Wikipedia
2) Al Buhaira Corniche -is one of the most developed areas of Sharjah, with residential and commercial skyscrapers surrounding Khalid Lake. One of the most scenic and peaceful places to visit in Sharjah. The park provides many facilities such as a jogging track and cycling paths.
3) Al Noor Island - Sharjah's top spot if you're looking for some relaxation
after shopping and exploring the city.
4) Al Majaz Waterfront - hosts various concerts, events
and festivals at different times of the year.
5) Al Qasba - Sharjah's top nighttime destination, plenty of cafés and restaurants edging the canal. It is beautiful to catch the sun set here.
5) Blue Souq (Central Market) - A visually stunning souk, made up of two identical arched buildings with their infamous blue mosaic tiles, right next to the corniche in Sharjah. There are more than 600 shops inside the market.
