full disclosure, first time I see this trailer and I will never have a use for one of these, but I like how solid it is built and how well thought out it is .... with one exception in my opinion ... which is the use of a chain to hold the mulch mate door open during dumping. That chain looks like an afterthought and feels prone to wrong use and causing potential damage. When I first saw the chain at 3:35 my initial thought was 'he is going to hook that to the silver handle' - and I am sure a lot of guys in the field will do that because it is so non-intuitive to open the zipper, fold up the flap, most likely not knowing that there is a magnet inside the flap to hold it up (remember, these trailers get used by work crews that are not always educated on all features of every piece of equipment that they use, and they use 'best guess' and 'intuition' to get the job done), and then having to find that metal brace that looks more like a frame component than a carabiner attachment point and then hooking it there which as you showed is a bit tight and not the easiest thing to do. Besides it seems the chain is rubbing against the flap and zipper and will tear that up over time. Sooo, I bet you many guys hook to the silver handle which over time will come loose, get bent etc and if that thing comes off, the whole mulch mate comes swinging and slamming down. ..... Now, why not take an example from a good solution already on your trailer seen at 11:18 ? You got a solid bar that attaches to a solid pin, secured by another pin and this method provides one obvious and correct solution that is intuitive and leaves no option to get it wrong. Make it easier for newbies and 5th or 6th generation of employees to understand how to use a feature correctly by making it intuitive to do and in the process create a much safer method to secure that 900 pound mulch mate swinging unit in place while it goes up in the air during dumping.

Great build, love everything about it except the lift system, should have put a telescoping front hoist on it , will lift much easier if loaded to much to the front especially if you ha e stone or soil in there , other than that its fantastic
Ty and we did consider that but we need the balance more over the axles and not out front bc of the weight distribution.
@@mulchmate I have just dump. I overload it a lot. *not your brand* it’s +20 years old. Except for my brother damaging by lifting just short of dump, backing on uneven slope… *bent rams* it’s still working w/new rams decade back. If it lifts really hard I remove @200 lbs from front.
careful standing under dump trailers like that, that's how someone at my old job died. freak accident but that stuff can happen. stay safe and clear when working with heavy machines. like the videos so far though good job.

From all the years of data we have you are just at the line where it really makes sense. We have probably 50 companies that do under 200 yards and they love it. This entire Mulch Mate DMT dump trailer combo starts at 53k

What’s the empty weight in that setup? Also what axle sizes are available I know 7k axles and I think you said 8k axels?
Around 6k on average. Standard axles are two 7k axles. You can upgrade to 8k or 10k axles.
I just struggle with, what size company is this for? A company large enough to afford the price tag of this trailer would be large enough to justify a single axle dump truck that is way more versatile and maneuverable. I can shovel/pitchfork mulch out of the back of a dump truck pretty dang fast and only need 3 wheelbarrows and one guy running back and forth to the beds. I can do it with stone or loam as well. Is this rig made for a solo operator? Am I just completely missing the purpose this setup serves?
It's a human replacer. Imagine that task being consistent and only costing you 10k a year, not 40k like a human. Machines don't sweat and don't show up drunk as an example. Think about it this way, cars vs horses.
How many people do you think they hook that chain to the handle?
Far to many!!! There is a decal to tell them what to do and they still cant follow instruction. As they say you can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink!!!
get rid of the junk back door and put a pair of barn doors on it and put a Scissor lift on it and it would be a good trialer for sure.

scissor lifts are the worst possible way to lift a dump trailer... you litterally asked him to make the same trash ass trailer that everyone makes
@@mulchmate the trailer itself may be good but the setup configuration is the worst for being productive tho. my trailer would dump faster and I could open my back gates faster dump my load close up and be headed for another load before this thing even started lifting it load up.
@jeromyw385xp Thanks for the your feedback. We have done 2 decades of testing on this process and we know for a fact what works and what is faster. The biggest companies in the world have done the numbers and run their own tests and this setup is 5X faster minimum. If you don't prefer it that's totally ok and we wish you the best.
