Just watched the movie for the first time ever and I felt that their arc was more catchy and feel-good to me. The scene when she quoted his article and his shocked face was the best moment of the movie for me. It’s so nice when people meet each other in unpredictable ways when they have already settled down with their loneliness, and get happy without having hard and exhausting relationships crisis. Loved the actors work
So glad to hear it! I myself identify much more with Harry & Sally, but you have to be happy for Jess & Marie for finding their way to happiness. And those actors... wow.
@@paulthomas3247 My favorite of Fisher's is the index card scene. "I don't personally find him attractive but you might!" classic! They just don't make movies like this anymore!
I think Jess & sally didn’t work more so because they had nothing in common while Jess and Marie had a immediate connection because she like his writing, rather than the reason you gave.
Thanks for taking the time to watch! I wouldn't do this if I didn't want to hear other people's ideas. Always glad to hear from another fan of my favorite movies.
I agree. Until that moment, Marie wasn't on his radar. Then she quoted him back to him. That set the foundation. Her admiration of his writing. Men love flattery and admiration. In the dinner conversation Sally not only didn't know who Jess was, but she rejected his writing hero, the guy who Jess even said was "...the whole reason he got into writing in the first place." Meanwhile Marie was quoting Jess back to him, loving his stuff. The way his whole face lit up....she had him from that moment. :D BUT...I do also like Paul Thomas' analysis of the characters and why things either did or didn't work/click/connect. I think both takes are correct. And the only reason I'm even commenting at all is because I think the whole Jess and Marie storyline was the best thing about this movie. :D For me, Carrie Fisher made this movie.
100% agree. When Harry met Sally would not be the classic it is without Carrie and Bruno.
Carrie’s line about the table gave me the biggest laugh!
She slays me in this movie. Sooooo funny.

Fisher and Kirby were so great. Best B Story ever!!!!

Best B story ever, so much I can't call it B.
