How To Install & Upgrade RAM Memory In HP Red Laptop - Step By Step Tutorial

- In this video I show you how to install and upgrade DDR4 RAM Memory In A HP Laptop. This HP Laptop I got from Walmart and came with 4GB of RAM Memory and I have been wanting to upgrade it for a while. I chose a PNY Memory that is 16GB and 3200Mhz. The model number on this laptop is 15-dw0081wm and is part of the HP 15-dw0000 series laptops from HP. I show you step by step how to take the bottom of the laptop off, how to remove the old RAM memory, how to install the new RAM memory, and how to reinstall the bottom of the HP laptop. I then show you how to verify that the memory installed correctly on the computer. Sounds like a massive upgrade ! lol i have same laptop, how does it work with 16GB? Also it seems like it comes with a small 60GB ssd... can i upgrade hard drive too ?
@@brayantheguruthey never answered you, but I wouldn’t recommend changing the storage bc it feels like if its not in within it can overheat or something, but u could try, i want to upgrade my ram as well

i am not even close to being computer technical but with you video i watched and went step by step and so happy to DIY. my only problem was when i opened it up i realized it was only one slot for the Ram. i needed to have the one piece of 16gb instead of the 8x2 Gb kit. i didn’t even feel bad because i knew i could exchange out on amazon and go back thru with steps from your video. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this video.

Thank you , Todd. I have a similar-type HP laptop (model 17-g119dx) - about 7 years old - but did not see any obvious way to access the RAM (a door or port). Your video answers the query on how to access the innards, so I'll give it a shot. I had a local store upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8 a few years ago, but would like to upgrade to 16 (the max this model can hold). The laptop runs the components of an observatory (mount, cameras, focusers, etc.), so every bit of RAM will help, I think. Thanks again for a very well-done and easily-explained video. - Steve

Very helpful! I have the same laptop and just upgraded from 8g to 16g. The 8g has only 1 motherboard for a memory slot too, just fyi. I bought 2 and could only use one. Thank you!

What is the limit of RAM for this kind of laptop?
Did you experience any boot up or lag issues after upgrading the ram in this laptop? I have this same laptop and am hesitant to upgrade based on some reports of boot up issues and lagging issues.
I am assuming if you replace the ram the laptop has to fully reset to get used to the ram but then eventually it should just work also check if you got the correct memory.
I have the same red laptop from Walmart and I too changed it from 4 to 16. And now it doesn't display anything on screen. So I put the original ram stick back in and still doesn't display anything. I'm lost now
Remove the ram, disconnect battery, hold power button for 30 seconds, then try it again. Sometimes it may take awhile for it to boot...be patient

No...I used a small magnetic phillips and a straight. you can separate the main part with anything like a guitar pick, credit card, etc...

@@onekoolmario1343 im pretty sure with 16GB ram you can have as many intenet tabs as you want to use all the RAM 4GB is very low.... windows uses like 2-3GB off the bat

None the way it is... maybe solitaire or games like that.
It can run some early games that don't take a lot of ram. Mine is 4GB and it can play a beefy old game like Sims 3 with no problem for ex. If it's an older game, it likely works since that means it was made for non-powerful computers at the time.
Ok I found out it can play left for dead 2 and Garys mod and people play ground and far cry 3

The laptop used in the video only has one ram slot. Usually, newer model laptop havr 2 so to add a 2nd ram you should have the same ram generation as the current ram installed in your laptop (if the installed one is ddr3 you should buy another ddr3 for expansion) but i recommend to replace the older generation ram and buy 2 newer ones like ddr5 or ddr4
