There’s a couple more hot hatches turned mid-engined super hatches other than the Clio V6 and VW Golf W12. Most of them were built in limited production numbers for homologation purposes in rallying. The Renault 5 Turbo being one of the earliest mid-engines hot hatches that was built for Group 4 rallying. There was also the Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4 and Lancia Delta S4, which were built for Group B. Technically speaking they counted as production cars as the rules stipulated you had to build 200 units within a 12 month period, but these were rally cars through and through and were certainly rough around the edges.

MG Metro 6R4 looks cute af though, always been.

    • @EugVR6
      @EugVR6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

None of those Group B cars had anything to do with the road cars, other than they looked similar, everything was different. The 6R4 shared headlights, rear lights and doors with the road car.

      @1958plymouth440V8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@EugVR6 yeah I know. That’s why Group B cars had to be homologated. That’s why Peugeot, Lancia, Audi and MG all made (up to) 200 road-legal versions of their mid-engined rally cars.

Thru the first 11 minutes of the review I was thinking about my reply about it being a hatchback and no box test. Hopes were dashed at approx 12 minutes. Loved the video. Was raised with some quarky car's. My second car was a 76 Mercury Capri ( European ) with a V-6, 4 speed, dual straight pipes with Trush muffler's exiting out the side before the rear wheels. Couldn't sneak in or out, so I just annoyed my small town. Loved your video. Always thought a rear engined R5 would have been a blast and you proved it. Thanks 👍

    Hye Guys ✌🏼
First of all, thank you for the review of old cars like these.
Now let me tell you the point of view of a French guy i am 🇨🇵
This car, is a total useless project.😤
Yes it is kindda funny, look and concept,✔️
Yes it joined all the rarest Euro/French cars like 205 T16, 405 T16, R5 Turbo, Espace F1 etc etc etc✔️
But actually, all these cars weren't available for customers, or, if they were, it were waaayy too pricy, to buy one of these.❗
    You named it,
It's a CLIO, what the hack, a stupid CLIO, modified to receive an engine way too big fir its size
So everything around the chassis is dumb.😤
    Engine location,
    Engine bay,
    Front trunk etc
Nothing has been developed FOR the chassis like could have been another interesting cars.🙄
    So, let me be clear,
I am French, i do like our Automotive National Legacy, i do like some of our best Brand of all time, Bugatti, Facel Vega...🇨🇵🙏🏼😍💪🏼
But since 1990/2000,all french cars are crap 100%!😤👊🏼😭
Renault, Peugeot, Dacia, Citroën, every single car is developed for low and poor market so we have a French production which is very low quality... And i 'am definitely against this.❗❗👊🏼👊🏼
And actually this Clio, is one of the best bad conception, the French automotive industry could combine.🙉
    Low materials,
Used and rubish engine recycle in a chassis non developed for,
    Uncorrect price for the market,
So every decisions in these projects were wrong which lead the Brand to its actual financial statut which every one knows.🙄👏🏼👏🏼
Renault has been 3 times, recovered by French politics, with People money taxes.🤔🤮
So, i can understand overseas this kind of cars look funny, and friendly concept groove, but in another view, it is the perception, of NON suitable product for the market....😤👏🏼
    So,
Thank you for the fun, but i don't want this car, even if i played with it in Gran Turismo 3 😎
    Only OG knows ✔️👍🏼
    Thanks guys
    Seeya
    By the way,
    Launch control, in French is,
    " Départ Arrêté",
    kindda,
    Stopped-Start
And, " Je ne sais quoi..."
that was weird 🙉, maybe you meant
    " Je ne sais pas".

Renault Clio in Europe between 1995 and early 2000s was a very cool car, together with Peugeot 205 GTI, Fiat Uno Turbo, WV Golf GT and its predecessor, the Renault 5 - Also, all very fast and dangerous to drive.
One of my friends used to drive the Renault Clio Williams (the civilized version of this one) - it was damn fast for that times. If you ever find one in Canada, I suggest 2 European cars: Peugeot 205 GTI and Lancia Delta HF Integrale. Thanks for reviewing this car! Great Job!

A few notes about the car:
It was made as an homage to the Renault 5 Turbo, which was used in the Group B, with took the same recepie. Originaly was a FF car, and to be most competitive, Renault put an 1.4 Turbo engine in the back that made 160hp.
The original Clio, is a common sight in Europe. You can get a economy one for cheap and parts are even cheaper and available every where. The hot ones are FF with a 2.0 liter and is one of the best handling cars on the starting of the century
The livery is not based on computers, but it is the logo of the Renault Sport logo
Sorry for the long text :)
