12 Bar Blues was really a work of art that was easily ignored at the time when the world wasn't quite ready for Scott's full potential rather than being concerned of his troubled addictions.
He was our Gen-X rock hero. I always considered him to be our American David Bowie. He was a shooting star while he was here. I miss him and his voice.
I fucking adore Scott Weiland but I personally think Kurt Cobain is the Gen-X Rock Hero Above all though, Hank Hill is the true hero and example for Gen-X.
"Can't you see?? It's a disease?? He really poured his heart out with that line. Verse makes me feel, like he was asking all of us, to forgive him, for his substance abuse problem. @@jiveassturkey8849Unfortunately Mr. J.A.T., I am not, thee, #80, Danny Amendola. But I did manage to play and win, 2 little league titles, between(9-12)yr. old. Plus,1 slow pitch softball championship, back in(2004). Not quite as notable as the 2 Super Bowl Championships, but who's jealous?
@@jiveassturkey8849 Don't feel bad Mr. J.A.T. , Barry Bonds lost every freakin' championship series that he ever played in. Never achieving any championships whatso ever, while being such a star athlete.
Probably not a giant hit, but I know Q101 in Chicago played this song a decent amount when it came out. They also played Mockingbird Girl a lot (but the version from the Tank Girl soundtrack).
SAME. I remember watching the old video when I was in high school. Actually, this entire album was the soundtrack for my time in school. I still get emotional listening to this...rest easy, Scott. Despite all his flaws, he was fucking amazing. ❤😢
This guy was a bonafide Rockstar..... probably the last of that era......with Chester I think nailing that coffin......there s still Corey ,Myles, etc but yeah he had that presence
I don't know why but this song and video seems to be more fit for today's music landscape. Back then it was perhaps too weird and not what was expected from an alternative rock/ grunge artist.
All the greatest artists were so ahead of their time that people didn't really start to appreciate it until years later. Scott Weiland's probably one of the biggest examples of that. Obviously STP were great, and people definitely appreciated their work when it first came out, but I think people probably expected similar from Scott when he went solo and weren't happy when he defied their expectations.
"I'll stay at home 'cause I'm the mouse" -- what do you make of that lyric? I know everyone has theories about how this song is about his addiciton/marriage/beliefs etc. But that one line just really gets to me, and I wondered what anyone else gets from it.
speaking from someone in the throws of the same addiction i believe hes referring to social anxiety. the feeling of being small and undeserving to be in the company of other people. better to stay home and get high. not saying this is a good thing but..i understand what hes saying.
I really liked this album from day 1. Still do. I wonder what else is coming with the "Deluxe" re-issue. I have the original Atlantic promo version and the original commercial release.
I failed, again. Ten years..years.. off the street but on the doctor's suboxone. Ten years of..treatment. The long ween. failed again. jumped off too early and my guts revolted. two times, tried two times now to put away this trash. the trash that saved my life by slowly killing me. back to the ween. slow. think its going too slow? go slower. I STILL BELIEVE I WILL BE FREE. God knows yes this has become so boring by now.. havent tasted a jelly bean in years. ate plenty. wonder what the scales would read for me; has my suffering balanced the scales for all the pain i inflicted? I. still. believe.
OMG so much truth in this video!ppl have no idea man about egypt is here all of its here man it's hard to explain it sound like it makes no sense but if ya get it makes perfect sense
the remnants of atlantis; the dark magicians and their schools of mystery, masters of programming and manipulation, and the very same bloodlines that now control our nation, and of course the music industry. was he telling us things?
12 bar blues is a masterpiece.
It really is... its one of my favorite albums of all time. He was really something special ❤

Um no. Maybe for late Gen X'ers, but not for most Gen X'ers. Not even close.
I fucking adore Scott Weiland but I personally think Kurt Cobain is the Gen-X Rock Hero

He went downhill fast.
@@KadeBronson Heroin will do that. He had a longer run than Kurt and Layne if nothing else
@@rawkguy4896 To each their own, but I'll take Scott over Kurt any day of the week.

He is a man with superpowers. He came from another planet and bankrupted the casino. Then MIB came, took him away and sent him back.
very Man Who Fell To Earth
This album is incredible, no radio hits but very inspired for sure.
It sucked

Loved him. His voice and dancing were epic. RIP❤️
Wow! Finally the HD version! I've been watching the crappy version for like 15 years! RIP Scott.

What an insane talent. What a tragic tale. What a legend.
What a great single and album.
I snuck in to an out door STP show in S.F. at Fort Mason around 2010. So Rad and glad I got to see them !!
That song means more and more every time I hear it… his best song of all time forsure.
Love this recording. A voice like no other.

💔💔💔💔💔💔 lovely Scott
This is one of those albums that’s best to have on vinyl. Just a front to back experience.
Damn drugs , damn alcohol , damn addictions , damn depression . They kill wonderful persons...
You can’t blame all those things for such a terrible song.

Great music, amazing vocals and beautiful video !
The ladies at Warmington sure loved you Scott ❤
I love him so much.
Ahh yes, another tune from the late 90s - the best years of my life!
If you were born in the 70s, you would know that the music of the 80s is unsurpassed.
I really miss him! 😢
Here He and his voice were in Great shape
RIP
In late 97 and early 98 he was in a good shape, sadly he started to struggle again when the 12 Bar Blues tour started, but his voice was still badass
That is an amazing solo album😎
I love 12 Bar Blues.
Legend ❤
JUST AMAZING! love you SCOTT ❤
Serious Bowie vibes.
of course. He deliberately did this entire video as an homage to David's film "the man who fell to Earth"
One of his best tracks IMO wish there were more live versions
He has resuscitated.
❤
Masterpiece
luckly i have this record: simply a jewel...
Very David Bowie-ish. Love it!
I love this but at the same time it makes sad that he isn't here anymore😢
