I was there for this otherworldly performance. Watching from the front row balcony I could not take my binoculars off the Hydra. I left stunned by seeing this live. When I saw the video of this it seemed fake. But nope! Steve nailed it. How he and his amazing band could play the whole show with such raw energy and unearthly talent....no words except thank you Steve Vai, band and crew for bringing this to The Danforth! Lunantix, thx for posting! My vantage point did not allow for this quality of video. great Night out in T.O. !

Many years ago, Rick Nelson of Cheap Trick had even played a 5-neck Hamer guitar. From this point of view, you can even speak of "restraint" with Steve´s Hydra.😁

Zappa clearly knew what he was doing when he tapped little Stevie Vai to join his band.

All I am saying is - is this all really necessary? I think he is underachieving and should have a a guitar wheel where he plays backwards, upside down north south east west a Hydra Wheel. That would impress me. And a song that has words might help.

Yes it is. Complexity has always been part of music along history. Even if it's done just for the sake of it. It does impress me, BTW. I just find the "necessary" quote out of place here. What do you mean "necessary"?? How do you tell what is "necessary" out of a Steve Vai performance ? And God Forbid, how many of Zappa's records were "necessary" ?.........
