I saw Steve Vai in Baltimore about ten years ago. He was amazing as always. He did a meet and greet after the show. While he was signing my stuff, a guy asked him what the secret to his playing is. Steve said " there is no secret. Just practice twice as much as you think you need to."

Chapeau bas Monsieur Vai.

In ancient Indian and Persian tales "Onyx" is referred to as a protector from evil. The Indian gemologists describe onyx as a protector for harmonious relationships. The stones' close union and yet strong contrast between the layers of black and white are considered symbolizing for the love between two people.

Back in the days I bought ”Passion And Warfare” (on CD) and heard, for the first time, ”For the Love of God”. Up to this day it’s still one of the most beautiful guitar pieces ever written. ❤️🤩

I had the LP. I was completely mesmerized by two songs at that time: Crushing Day by Joe Satriani and this one. My goodness, such excellent pieces of musicianship. The best I have ever heard.

I'm a keyboard player, and never liked the the hardest side of rock, so i did'nt know who Steve Vai was, but when i heard this song in a music store i felt in love, for the writing and the arrangment even before the tech skills.

And just think he NEVER does the song the same way twice. Always adds something new, different, alien almost. Vai is still relevant and has lost nothing. Amazing improv at the end and love the new black Ibanez Pia!
