Thanks man, there are lots of moments where I wish I still had my manual Z06 but both transmissions have their merits. Are you based out of Nashville? I might be visiting a friend there sometime in the next few months. I'll probably try to rent something and knock out some videos while I'm there.
Track Day TV I sure do live in Nashville and message me when you’re planning to come into town. I got many friends in the car scene here. On the manual, if you’re daily driving the car then the auto is the way to go hands down. But, if it’s a weekend warrior, the manual in both the Corvette and Camaro is very very good. Smooth gear changes, light clutch, rev matching works incredibly well (sounds great too). My only issue is it’s hard to get a smooth launch with cold tires on the stock ZL1 tires, just so much torque it spins the tires very easily. Winter tires removed that issue though. Hope to see ya in Nashville in the spring bud. - Adam
Great production and, I will agree, the automatic transmission is faster for the average driver. But, if you have experience driving fast cars, the manual is the way to go. When Chevrolet asked Randy Pobst to test the C7 Z06 around Sears Point they told him the automatic was faster and he agreed. At first. After several laps he was consistently faster in the manual. Of course, most of us aren't Randy Pobst but it can be done and the manual is sooooooooo much more fun! Anyway, great post. Cheers.
Good comment. I choose manual because if I put in the time and practice, I can outperform an automatic. It is so much more satisfying to develop the skill set and there is no comparison to the fun factor.

I’m not a fan of the paddle shift, I leave it in D and mash the pedal, let the computer figure out the rest
I agree with you there, leaving it in D is going to net a faster 40-100 and 60-130 time, but in a race situation, you lose half a second on the kickdown. I've tried doing the "Performance Shift Mode" and it always starts me in 3rd gear when I should be in 2nd, hence it only really works for rolls above 60mph.

The fastest American GMC vehicle ever! 2019 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 1LZ the lightest ever. This vehicle in the video "The Silver Bullet" is an example. This is the car you want it comes in many colors. At a rolling start lets say 30, 35, 40 mph it's over with the A8 automatic transmission (factory stock only vehicles). You will need a million dollar car and up to beat it. I hope! Excellent video! Watch the Z06 vs. Huracan roll race.
A few simple bolt ons for air intake, exhaust, and meth easy get into the 6's 60-130 runs.
I just put on the AFE CAI, X-Pipe and PTB. I'll try to do another 60-130 with those mods when the weather is warm again. I had the same mods on my M7 Z06 and did 7.26 seconds. There's hope for high 6's in perfect conditions with the A8.
Track Day TV What power increase did you see with those mods? I have a 19 Z06 MT and I want to hit a few mods without voiding the warranty yet.

It's not perfect, and it does have its flaws, but overall, I'm very happy with the car. I have a Gen V Viper GTS, Honda S2000, and WRX STi.........as you know.......all manuals.............I can get that fix elsewhere. The Viper is a monster, and quite honestly has more character than any of the other cars. I love that car.... But, it isn't the best car. The Corvette is the best all around car of the bunch, for many reasons. The Viper, on the other hand, is the one that would be hardest to let go...................
Thanks! Nice stable you got there. I was on the fence between a Z06 and Gen V Viper, but I heard a bunch of horror stories about the earlier engines. I also had an M7 Z06 but I wanted to give the A8 a shot to see what it was all about. I'm going to work on a video where I talk in depth about the M7 vs. A8.

GTR is not faster. The times are listed at the end of the video. From a dig to 60 mph, sure, GTR is quicker. From a roll, not even close.

Start out in Manual in the right gear then go WOT then click it up to drive immediately so it shifts on own.

I have had special cars like the v10 m5 I’ve had status cars like the sl63 amg, ive had super reliable sports sedans like the acura tlx type-s and I can say my z06 is a combination of all of them. I bought my Z06 like 500 miles away. Driving home, about 400 miles away in the middle of nowhere at about 3am, it started misfiring. I felt so worried but I had no choice and nursed it home. Took it to the Chevy dealer, expecting a catastrophic problem and a huge bill, the guy knew I drove 400 miles misfiring, turns out it was a bad sparkplug. I had the tech check thoroughly, no damage no problem whatsoever. I paid my 200 dollars bill and a year later it does nothing but give me smiles. I love my corvette like a pet dog. Anybody in the market for a performance car, get yourself a corvette, you WILL fall in love.
I have 16 cars, all sports cars, italian, germans and americans.
And I have a 2016 Corvette Z06 manual. it is as good as any of my cars, and I have very unique cars.

How about getting the Z06 on a banked course for a top speed run? I don't think I've seen that anywhere yet. It would be nice to compare to the ZR1.
That would be pretty cool to do, but in the US, we don't have any courses like that. The closest thing we have are Mile racing events like the Texas Mile and Mojave Mile. I'll try to go to one of those this year.
I don't know why GM didn't publish a top speed number like they did for the ZR1. You would find a lot of people on the Corvette Forum that would be interested in seeing that. In the Texas Mile they run about 185. I've seen videos from Germany of a Z06 driving over 200, so I feel like the car with stage 1 aero has 200 in it, but not sure how much road it takes to get there.

I think I bought them from Amazon or eBay, but truthfully, anything that is made for this generation of Camaro's will work. The paddles on the two cars are identical as far as I know.

You should upgrade the intake. Halltech said that their intake alone can add more than 30 hp.

We are trying to take a more cinematic approach to car videos, but I do hope that as time goes on, I become more natural in front of the camera. How have you found launch control? (Track mode, press traction button twice to bring up your 5 options (wet, dry, sport 1 or 2, race).. choose any of them by pressing the ok on steering wheel.. mash break. Mash throttle. Release break. I find I cant get better than 3.6 seconds on the road in any mode. Have you had better luck? (2019 z06 z07 3lz I run both sport cup 2 and super sports depending if I'm tracking that week or not). Ps great video!
Honestly, I'm not a fan of the launch control, it launches a little too high for anything but perfectly prepped track conditions. My understanding though is that you can only activate the true LC in race PTM mode. I don't do a lot of 0-60's but 3.6 is already pretty good if you're getting that on the street. Where do you track?
@@SpeedLabsMotorEnvy Toronto motorsport speedway in cayuga ontario. (And once at Canadian tire motorsport in bowmanville for ron fellows race day). I have one video on my channel from cayuga. In manual mode with your padels do you ever hit rev limiter becasue it takes like half a second from pulling the paddle to shifting the gear? Happens to me sometimes. Your shifts sounded awesome. It does shift faster in higher rpm though.
Yes, I'm actually working on an episode about things I hate on the Automatic (I also had a manual) and that's one of them. The most annoying this is if you end up hitting the limiter on the upshift and you try and command the shift, it'll deny it for an entire second. Very irritating in a race or any competition event. I think it shifts faster in Track mode than all the other modes on WOT.
3.6 on a street is pretty amazing. The grip on any street is nowhere near a track plus the sport cup 2s don't stick well until they are above 150 degrees and that usually takes me about 5 miles on the track when it is warm outside (above 80.) I find doing laps much more satisfying anyways than just mashing the throttle in a straight line. There is something pretty cool when you pull your PDR video into the Cosworth Toolbox on your completely stock Z06 and see you routinely pull 1.4 Gs in every corner and sometimes break 1.5.
This is 16:9 with black bars. Not true 21:9 … i got black bars all around the video on a 21:9 screen.. :/
You are correct, I had to upload it in 16:9 because TH-cam does not support annotations and end card screens with a 2.39:1 or 21:9 ratio. I had originally uploaded in 2.39:1 and I do shoot most of my footage with anamorphic lenses which would result in organic 2.39:1 ratio once desqueezed.

Motor Sportz Traction, according to GM the C7 struggles to put the power to the ground and the heavier motor means more front weight bias, less rear weight for grip. That is why they went Mid-engine with the C8 the C7 just can’t put the power down.

I love the corvette Z O6 but you should have had at least one of the coparison cars be the same production year as its a 2019. Some of the others are 3 to 4 yrs behind.
Will do, I'm testing the performance on newer cars every month so hopefully I'll get something comparable in a future episode.
