Excellent comments and observations. I have the same car and same update here in Montreal and my concerns are very similar. But they are mostly subtleties or personal preferences, so it is doing a great job.
@@bernardsmith8566 yeah I thin the majority of complaints today are just driver preferences. Yes FSD makes mistakes, but a LOT of the things people complain about aren’t dangerous or wrong, they’re just not what that specific user would do.
@@R56Cooper thanks! I’m trying really hard to get included in the earlier rollouts so that I can share videos on the build, it’s not going good so far haha.
Keep up the great work with these videos - very interesting for all of us new to using FSD to see the behaviours we can expect in various situations. As I’ve said previously, the late braking & close follow distance are my two biggest complaints at the moment. But I think they will get addressed soon as it was not an issue in other non-FSD modes (eg. Basic radar cruise). I’m very interested in seeing FSD V13 with the claimed 5x or more improvements. Unlocking the full resolution of the HW4 cameras will be a game-changer I suspect.
13:00 How is that not a crosswalk? Are the laws in canada different than the US? That would definitely be a crosswalk in the US, cars would be required to stop for pedestrians crossing there.
@@CanadaFSD 99% of intersections have crosswalks, they are either marked tor unmarked, there are actually 4 crosswalks at that intersection. When they mark the crosswalk it is just for convenience, they don't have to mark them. The crosswalk laws are actually very simple.
@@sfdsdfsdfsdfful Fair enough, I have been driving for a long time and honestly did not know that. I thought they had to be marked to be considered a proper crosswalk.
I’m happy to see a Vancouver driving TH-cam channel. I live in Vancouver and my wife and I use FSD on every trip. We are also on 12.5.6.3 and I think we have to doo too many interventions, Let me know if you get phantom braking on quiet intersections, not following any car, where FSD slows or stops an the first crosswalk line.
I recommend disengaging in situations, where it's not perfect, but not counting them as disengagements. Like where it stopped in the wrong spot at a red light or when it didn't turn left, but the pedestrians already cleared the crosswalk. I think it's better to send in this data than to have a "perfect" score for the drive
34:20 I have friends from California and Toronto who visit and ask what the flashing green light means... guess it's just a Western Canada thing? Maybe the FSD engineers don't come across this either so FSD has no idea what to do
@@benh8199 my understanding is that it’s a light that’ll change almost immediately for a pedestrian who presses the wall button. I could be wrong though.
From my driving experiences here in Toronto, I’m torn about the early lane changes. Nice to have on the highway but when in the city, getting into the right lane 1km early is about 5 traffic lights from the actual turn and results in the car getting stuck in slower traffic. I’m still on HW3 so never experienced v13 so I’m not sure how it behaves in the city with the early lane changes
The lane changes are dramatically better on v13, still not perfect but definitely an improvement. It's hard, sometimes getting over early makes sense, other times it doesn't. It is really hard for the 'car' to know that.
@@jceess I’ve lived in Canada all my life and I still think it’s so weird that you can do that too! I usually try to park on a back road rather than in the lane on a busy street
Honestly that's final boss level... It's lawless at Costco, as a human I have troubles navigating through it, I cannot imagine what FSD would think of the whole situation... Maybe one day 😄

Agreed with your comment about late braking and tailgating. Experience that also and it’s very very uncomfortable.

As far as I know crosswalks have to be marked, you see one just across the street.
