Trying a new layout, let me know what you all think of it. This allows me to show the FSD visualizations bigger, and also the 'face cam' gets bigger too, but that's only because I needed to fill the gap. I had recorded this video before posting my other one, so I didn't keep FSD visuals full screen the entire time - I will be doing that in the future. Thanks again for all the support, enjoy the video!
Another great video showing the strengths and current gremlins, Devin. Thanks! Your gonna love it when I start posting my videos from down here in Vancouver, WA. Got some great drives to show it's strengths, and some to show it's challenges, ha!
The layout looks nice. For some reason, I think having the video of you on the bottom-left would be better than bottom-right. I can't exactly explain way. Maybe because we read left to right. 😉 Remember you can always use the right scroll wheel to manually change the max up and down.
Oh interesting, I’ll flip it for the next video and see what people think of that. I guess it makes sense too since that’s sort of where the wheel is/I am so overlaying that video on the bottom left makes more sense. Thanks!
@ after reading his comment it makes total sense, I’m not sure why I wouldn’t have done that in the first place. I will for sure switch it in my next video
@@CanadaFSD Elaborate please (says a future Tesla owner). Does wanting the upgraded sound system hint that the your current is meh...or you just want more? Better seats. If I may, better in what way? *About to watch the video now.

8:28 regarding speed control: In Germany, and I think this applies to Canada as well, you need to be at the new speed limit at the speed limit sign. The car however was at 72 when it reached the 50 km/h limit here. If there would be a speed camera behind the speed limit sign, you could look at a really hefty fine for going 22 km/h over.
@@CanadaFSD I mean speeding up at the sign is fine, but preemptively is not. But I think you mean that it picks up speed faster after the speedlimit changes, after the sign, right?
Really enjoy your content. Though being in the US, I'm having to adjust to metric units 😊 I agree with you about speed. It seems that if there aren't other cars to give it cues, the speed tends to taper off. I notice this more in city than highway. I drive a 2024 Model 3 performance FSD 15.3.3 You could name your channel "FSDevin" 😂 Also, love the new layout
@@mikescott58 haha FSDevin is a great one! Sorry, if it was easy to have both KM and MPH in the screen I definitely would do that. Also I agree that if there’s other vehicles around the car does a lot better than if it’s on its own, with regards to speed.
Hey Devin, thank you for your videos. I'm from Germany and enjoy watching the canadian street's and landscapes while seeing FSD getting better over time. Can't wait to use FSD in Europe one day. Thanks to you and other's the most issues are solved by than😅
22:39 this lane change was quite interesting. The car predicted that the truck in front is moving to the left to go around a blockage in the road. The only safe alternative here is to slow down significantly, as the truck is blocking the view ahead, so if there's a stationary vehicle may not be visible. I think the switch to the left lane was the better option here, as you can just continue with the same speed at the truck ahead, and then switch lanes as soon as the visibility is better again.
13:48 the reason FSD slowed down there is due to low visibility over the crest, with a bent behind it. As soon as the visibility improved, it sped up again. I think that's the safest course of action here.
@CanadaFSD absolutely, one of my biggest issues with it. Their map data needs to know where merges are and lanes are ending. Also where traffic backs up significantly and long turn lanes exist because of it.
Hi Devin. Thanks for highlighting the over speed and under speed issue as well as mapping problems as you described. We also experience this inside Vancouver and travelling to towns in the Fraser valley; when I’m the driver I regularly adjust the speed up or down using the scroll wheel. FSD does not recognize speed signs if they are black with a yellow background when exiting the highway. On the positive side, FSD 3.2.2.1 on our model Y fixed our most annoying problem. With previous versions wE also had a lot of phantom or ghost braking for Vancouver green light intersections with no cross traffic and no pedestrians. I disengaged and reported this multiple times and now it is fixed.
13:43 I wouldn't say it's slowing down for no reason, you're approaching an intersection at the crest of the hill, so you can't see the road markings in advance and where the view to the right is totally blocked. Approaching with a little caution doesn't seem like a bad idea to me!
@@jonathanmelhuish4530 yeah I commented that right after I remarked it was slowing down too much. But there’s still plenty of other times where it’s not needed to slow down as much as it does
So strange how it will go at or under the speed limit, even in hurry sometimes, even with no one ahead blocking or pacing. Other times, is quite agressive in it's speeding and hurrying.
I really wish I could better understand its logic and thinking. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s definitely becoming a nuisance and is more and more evident as the rest of the drive is being handled nearly perfect
I’m actually doing a video right now that I’ll post soon, and it’s going to go into detail how I do my recording and editing etc. but to answer your question it’s a 2 camera setup, and I just take the forward facing camera and crop the screen, zoom in and overlay that. It just makes it easier to see the screen.
I think it slows down going up hill for safety as in limited vision ahead, as in it can't see over the crest of the hill. Probably just a safety factor calculation that may never go away due to stop distance needed for unforeseeable events.
So are you saying that, in Canada you’re able to go 10kph over the speed limit without risking a ticket? Here in Australia you’d get a ticket every time.
@@davidskelton8246 yes, I would say with almost certainty no cop would ever pull you over for going 10 over. There’s obviously exceptions to this rule - but generally speaking that’s how it is here. People drive at least 10 over
I don't think FSD likes to crest a hill at speed and will always slow a little bit going up hill until it has clear view ahead again. I've seen it happen often enough. Always remember, FSD can only think about 3-5 seconds into the future and can only remember parts of the past for a second or so. Waiting anxiously for the promised improvements in these areas.
@@genelane2243 seems that way for sure, I sort of understand slowing a bit for an unknown intersection, but it’s not normal and people will get annoyed if the car continues to do that
Speculating here as many of us are - but it seems FSD uses a lot of factors in determining what speed to drive at beyond just the obvious ones like speed limits. The core factors would be variables that impact FSD’s visibility and by extension its reaction time. So some things that come to mind are straight/curvy roads, multi-lane/single lane driving, uphill/downhill/flat driving, amount and proximity of external activity (cars, bikes, pedestrians), weather (dry/rain/snow), traction/grip level, time of day, (bright/dark), rural/urban, frequency of intersections, camera cleanliness, etc. - and probably dozens or even hundreds of other variables known only to the FSD team.
It's best to let FSD do the turn, if it's safe and you're fine with it doing something illegal there, but then still disengage and reengage directly after the maneuver, so you can send in the feedback. :)
The one thing that I see with most of the FSD videos that I watch is the way drivers accept driving 10 or 15 kmph over the speed limit. I live in Ireland and 10 or 15 over the speed is not accepted. You will certainly pay the price in euros and penalty points in a short time.
@@jimbob6062 I think if you ask an American in the US they’d say going only 10-15 over is too slow. It’s seems to be incredibly country specific. If you drive bang on the speed limit everywhere here in Canada, you’ll have people raging at you all day.
