0:23 I never knew stir frying became mainstream so recently. I always assumed it was a really common technique even among ancients. Sometimes it is amazing to learn how recently certain things have happened! Thank you for increasing my knowledge of Chinese culture and history with your cool videos.

Chinese was the first cuisine I learned back in 82. I’ve gotten into bad habits, like using soy all the time, I learned from you to use salt for salt, and soy for soy flavor..really cleans up the flavors! Thanks for your efforts! Now if you could make egg rolls like my childhood fave restaurant..they were huge, fat, with shredded finely dark greens, very dry, five spice flavor, never greasy..oh, miss those..I think their secret was to pre cook or stir fry all the green parts, and press all the moisture out before stuffing the egg rolls..

So glad I happened onto this channel. Your dad has a tremendous amount of cooking knowledge. My CSA often has various Asian greens in my bag. For instance, this week they gave me Red Cloud Tasoi & Tokyo Bekana. They may not be authentically Chinese, but I get bok choy, etc throughout the season. I love trying new things and your cooking channel helps me pick out which recipes I would like to try. Will definitely make this Rainbow Chicken vegetable stir fry. Also, thanks to your mom for the subsituting mushrooms for baby corn.

just recreate this dish & it was successfulll, my picky son gobble up so many of the chicken (very surprising since he doesnt usually like "white" looking meats -only likes to eat spicy red grilled or nuggets types). Daddy Lau gives very detailed instruction, THUMBS UP !!! you really helped us amateur cooks !! (im a super beginner cook by the way, only able to cook around 10 types of foods lol). Amazing how following through your instruction made me successfully made this complex looking dish, OUR FAMILY THANK YOU SO MUCH

My basic stir fry I love to use a good sherry to deglaze between steps, first I’ll do onion and mushroom together over highest heat to get some brown on them and dry them out, after the chicken is done and removed, then I’ll do whatever vegetables, add chicken back in, my sauce, toss, lay broccoli over the top, cover, Steam the broccoli through, then mix and put in a serving bowl, have over rice..always having that slurry of cornstarch ready is key, or even dry if you need to absorb surprise water..love a good sherry though to add flavors, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, five spice powder, secrets to instant Chinese flavor!

So glad I subscribed to this channel! Loving these recipes. Great tips as well. Daddy Lau is awesome. My Yeh-yeh did a lot of the family cooking too. As a note, since Lunar New Year is coming, could we get a few traditional recipes for New Year dishes in case we have to get special ingredients?

Thank you so much for subscribing :) We're grateful to continue sharing with you. Great suggestion! We were actually thinking about doing a series on that pretty soon.

Thank you so much for explaining how some vegetables release more water than others! I will be much more careful choosing my vegetable combinations in future.

That was so insightful! Such a great tip for stir frying veggies. There's another tip in our spare rib recipe video about when to add salt / sauces with salt to veggies too (add it when you're almost done).

Could we get more shots of Daddy Lau's awesome knife skills? It's mesmerizing! If he has any tips on how to improve my own knife skills, it'd be greatly appreciated!!

We'd love to do more of those Gwyn 😍😍 We have our video on how to care for your knives (th-cam.com/video/16Wd5jiu5wA/w-d-xo.html) but we should do one on basic knife skills!

Thank you! Very clear directions, good camera shots and editing. Appreciated the dinner table conversation at the end and the cooking tips throughout. I learned a lot!Excited to try this! Hope it works just as well with a frying pan. I have no wok. :(

@@MadeWithLau you are most welcome! Thx for the response. Also, I know this might sound silly, but do you think you guys could do a video on how to make rice? It’s basic, I know, but something I mess up every time I try.

@@smiletime Ahaha not basic at all! I know some grown adults who have never made rice before. We have a section on making rice in our Ginger Fried Rice video: th-cam.com/video/FBScXlydaa8/w-d-xo.html

Just made this dish tonight and it tasted good and was cooked well, but I’m afraid to cook on high so it had too much liquid left after. Next time I’ll cook higher temperature to thicken the sauce. It was very good though!

My stir fries always end up with lots of water at the bottom 😅. Thanks so much for the tips! Loved hearing the Cantonese in the video. Reminded me of my grandma's cooking :)
