Thanks for the review Chris and Wendy! I will clarify that this game was indeed a ton of fun to work on and I do appreciate your thoughts. As for who the game's for, you basically nailed it, we want those teen and adult fans of this series and its high octane action to be able to play this game and feel the sense of childlike joy you get when playing a game with fun little car toys. During playtesting, we saw a lot of their adults making explosion sounds with their mouths as they executed ram actions and ramped up into the chopper before guiding their car back in with a slow motion landing.
Wow, thanks for watching and for that insight. I was totally also making crashing noises and flying the car into the chopper with sound effects. It really shone through. Great job.
Just played this last night. Loved it and yet agreed with most of both your points. But I will definitely be playing again. Not many games make me pick up the pieces and act out what is happening with them!!!
This is an excellent review. Clear & detailed, I know how the game plays, I know what the downsides might be, and I have a solid idea whether or not I will like it. (I expect to like it a lot!) So I don't *need* any other reviews. But I would like one, specifically from someone at The Dice Tower who is a *fan* of the series. It can be really short, even to the point of sending the viewer here for the how-to-play, then like five minutes of how the game fits the franchise. Please? All the reviews I've seen so far are from people who have not watched the movies, and I'm really missing the perspective of someone who's *excited* about the idea of a F&F game made by Prospero Hall (rather than merely curious because of the designer).
Seems like the game is for Chris and folks like him. Weird to question who the game is for when one of you liked it. Also, it seems pretty different than most coops so that point I also quibble with. Regardless, was wondering about this one so thank you for taking a look at it!
I too thought that was weird. Like...the game is for fans of the movies first and foremost and...board gamers? Gateway board gamers? Like the jump in reasoning that there's cars, so it must be for children was very strange to me along with the confusion on who it is for.
There's a lot of bias around the "Who is this for?" discussion from the toy-like quality being "juvenile" and cooperatives being better for a "younger crowd." These points are useful in that they make the viewer aware of your preferences and experiences, but they also come across as dismissive of thematic gamers and cooperative gamers by being paired with, "Who is this for?"
The part of the "younger crowd" was a bit of a misspeak. Moreso meaning co-op games with this many rules CAN work great with a younger crowd because of the team working together. Not meant to be dismissive, sorry it came across that way. Thanks for watching the review, appreciate your comments.
@@DTChrisYi Yeah, for the tank scenario the 1 Control can become a liability, especially at low player counts, though the muscle car's special ability helps mitigate it since it allows him to position the wrecks a bit.
Great video! You two are an awesome duo. I want to had that randomness in this kind of game is not only acceptable, but thats what we are looking for. This is a thematic cooperative game, it is supposed to tell us a story, shocking events have to happen so the story is engaging. Thats what this kind of game is all about.
Wonderful review, thank you both! Following my "tiny epic rant" a week or so ago, which I would like to apologise for, I will be following your reviews avidly now. Great stuff.
Thanks Richard, I appreciate that. Thanks for taking time to write this note, and I'm glad you liked the video. Also, I recently got to try Heroes of Land Air and Sea, which isn't quite a Tiny Epic game, but same designer and company, and it was pretty slick. Always happy to be impressed by a game.
We should have a Fast & Furious board game that lets you race around the track in breathtaking speed; this game seems like there's no speed in it, only heist.
The rulebook does clarify that even though the pieces relatively stay where they are, players should understand the board is "zooming by" below them at incredible speed, haha.
I hate the franchise, I want at least some thought in an action movie, and if not, at least make it funny. I am however really tempted by this game! It feels like a gateway game that is meant to played with pizza or pretzels and beer, accessible to 'non-gamers' and for families with older kids. For 'serious' gamers it may also represent a palate cleanser, a way to de-stress after that 2-3 hour brain burner, or to warm up for one. Maybe a bit long to be a filler but I won't be surprised if this is game that gets a decent audience even with the BGG crowd
@@uplift-yourdailypickup6424 Obviously... I am making reference to the length of the rules explanation. One can teach Terra Mystica in 30min. I am afraid rules may be too complex for a game sold at Target.
@@dddmmm21 I understood what you meant. I think they should have designed a game with simpler rules then. Rodney's job is to explain the game as clear as possible. If he can't do it in less than 30 minutes, that's probably the game's fault. They pay him to make a video - he takes their money and makes a video!
Rodney's "How to Play" videos always go into tiniest details (because that's what the publisher paid for) and take double the time than it actually takes to teach the game in real time. There is a Meeple Mountain video about this game that's 10 minutes long and explains all the rules clearly.

How's this compare vs thunder road?
I dig this game- it’s def unique and thematic! Love jumping car to car 😅
Chris Yi, your editing is on point!
If they get the Mad Max license and reskin this, I'll buy all the copies.
Actually it sounds like this game is the spiritual successor to Thunder Road, an unofficial Mad Max game of the 80s.

Love this format. You guys are great!
I really like the Yis. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Great addition to the Dice Tower fam.
DiLisio & Yi - that's a Fast & Furious movie I'd watch
Less fast and furious and more slow and dependable
Great game. I have found it very difficult to win, especially the Semi Heist scenario. Lot of tactical decision making in this game. Lots of fun.
Not sure why but it’s bothering me that dom isn’t using the muscle car.
Strangely I didn't like the stats that Dom and the American Mussle car gave you together. Only 1 "Control" so you couldn't do many Force actions

I don't know if I'd like playing this game, but I like the IDEA of playing this game.
I got it recently. Fun game.
What happens if all enemy SUVs are eliminated and the players vehicles too. The 2 players pegs are on top of the tank. We lose the scenario?
Excellent intro!
They finish each other's...
Sandwiches!
This looks like dumb fun and I like the way it looks despite thinking I shouldn't.
Yaays for Yis!!! Fun review. Love how thoughtful you both are about it.

Who is this game for? It's for adults drinking drinks and playing games who don't want to take their games too seriously! C'mon Dice Tower!
Saying you haven’t seen a Fast and the Furious movie is like saying you haven’t seen a Star Wars movie…
It's really not.
The game looks awesome, but I was surprised to see a 30min(!!!) how to play video from Rodney... It seems quite incongruent to its target audience.
They pay him to make a how-to video - he makes one

It can't be worse than the movies.
This game looks as incredibly stupid as the movie franchise itself.
