    I purely bought this for the ET miniature that you can put in the basket. Worth.
    Aside from that, it was another solid Prospero Hall game comparable to Horrified or Back to the Future.

    Bought this at Target on clearance, this will be a good game with some house rules. That ramp is really finicky, we ended up not playing with it. I kinda wish that the devices did something different rather than rolling more dice. Was still enjoyable and def made me wanna watch ET after.

    E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: Light Years From Home is a fun and very accessible game. We need more of those!

    My brother saw this in the theater like 40 times. Ahh the 80s.

    Tom literally said the same things about BTTF Back in Time but he rates this one lower? You do the same goals in that game as well. Just different opportunities and trouble cards. Here the ET power cards won't always be the same.

    Great review from my two favorite reviewers (I like everyone at DT, but my taste in games aligns with them the most). I love Zee's reasoning so much.

    I disagree with tom on the rating of this E.T. game. E.T. is a family game that is much akin to forbidden island and forbidden desert. Each of the above is not a game that will be pulled out repeatedly and the replay-ability is limited. E.T. is a bit more complicated and should appeal to GenXers.

    This is soooo cute.
    Which game is better this one or the Back to the Future , Funko game?

    Thanks for posting this I'm undecided if I should keep it.

    If each die got progressively better as you finish each phone, the first being the same (two phone faces) then next has more, and the last has the most it would have been a far better game. BGG rolled blanks on the phone dice every turn, even when they finished the third phone. Every Turn!

    Perhaps a "You are the Agents" variant can save this game?

      Makes sense, since they are active players with their own dice rolls.

    Sounds like Zee was a real trooper on this one.

    I know this doesn’t have anything to do with the game but the new straight on camera angles with the DT background is way better than the angled views IMO.

    You guys should check out the Funko warriors board game. I love the movie and I thought the game was a pretty unique coop game. Not just another mess clean up game (pandemic style game.)

      Yeah, that was odd. The next time he showed Gertie's card he just said "she."
      Was Tom confused on how to pronounce Gertie?

    To me this game is pretty much just like Back to the future back in time, but not nearly as crushingly difficult

    Games like this make you appreciate the genius of past games like monopoly, that were simpler to learn and play. Imagine how much studying takes place to learn this game, only to have to explain everything again to others, anytime you want to play. Most peoples eyes will start to gloss over, within the first 2 minutes of explaining the rules.

    When I saw the commercial for ET, and it said from the maker of Jaws and Close Encounter, I was excited. I loved those two movies and wanted to see it. We were poor and only saw movies (in theatres) maybe thrice a year (and only with my mom, to save money my dad never went). I saw ET before it became *****ET***** and I was severely disappointed. Even at the age of 9 (when I saw the movie), I hated movies were kids do adult stuff. I also hated all the magical unexplained things in the movie (like the healing finger and the flying bike). To me it felt like a boring failed sci-fi (and yet, I liked CEOTTK...probably because it did not have any kids doing adult stuff). Still to this day I dislike this movie. I much preferred Alien. Now that was an alien.

      This is the weirdest review I've ever seen. It started out a bit sad, then ended up like wtf lol

      Maybe you were a mature kid. CEOTTK is supposed to be the adult companion to ET of a sort.

    Just came to say this will be the first video review in 3 years (since I started watching with the Dice Tower) where I haven't bothered with the video because the verdicts in the title. I'm sad about it and hope it's not a permanent thing

    E.T. is an overrated film. Didn't like it when i was a kid and i dont understand the nostalgia now

    I don't want to put down the effort that went into the fancy graphics and I have no idea what your metrics say, but a 16-second intro can't be good for viewer retention. Especially when it doesn't even tell you what the video is about until 12 seconds in.

    • @patattaq
      @patattaq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don’t think somebody with an attention span less then 16 seconds is the target audience for long form reviews.
      If someone can’t handle a 16 second intro then they surely won’t last through a 16 minute video.

    • @koalabrownie
      @koalabrownie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom views the DT as a channel providing content so an intro would be on brand. Whether people respond positively to it would show up in the metrics I suppose

    Look on the bright side, the game could've been a lot worse: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E.T._the_Extra-Terrestrial_(video_game)
