    The truth is ventura was a quiet little beach town decades ago, there has always been violence and now the homeless population is very apparent.. unfortunately the folks who are moving here from out of town don’t care at all about our community. What makes it feel so special is the fact that people care about each other here and the more out of towners who come here disconnected from that community the more we loose the value of this place. I find folks who are obviously not from here, throwing trash in our streets.. driving reckless and just completely inconsiderate… Ventureans don’t want folks from other places moving here, we don’t really welcome them.. especially on our waves. Crime is a problem here for sure, and ventura county happens to have the highest mortality rates for homeless folks in the whole state. Things to consider when moving to Ventura.

      Thanks for taking the time to provide your perspective on how Ventura has changed. We have heard from our customers how welcoming Ventureans are and how they have enjoyed becoming part of the community with volunteering, Taco Tuesday, Wine and hiking clubs and more.

      @@livinginventuracounty1071 it’s the folks that come from big towns, who treat our town like trash we don’t welcome. People fall in love with the charm in Ventura but if they don’t add to it they are definitely taking away from it! I have lived off the ave for a decade and in ventura county for most of my life. Almost every weekend I see a car wash fundraiser for a family member that was killed by gang violence.. it’s very sad. I see homeless people all around town and make beanies for them since ventura lacks the services to provide the basic needs of its citizens. I’ve seen a homeless person get hit by a truck and killed on the ave.. chalk outline of his body was their for months.I asked the ventura county star why they did not report on this and they said it was a minor injuries incident. Our town wipes things under the rug to make this seem like a more peaceful place than it actually is. If you check out the crime map you can see burglary incidents all over town including in the hills that have beautiful views… a lot of cars get stolen along with catalytic converters.. it’s not paradise but I’ll tell you it once was… that ship has sailed

    The "Sierra" Cross you refer to is actually spelled: Serra, pronounced, from the Spanish,: "Ser-ra"--rolling the "r's". This cross was named for the Franciscan priest, Father Junipero (pronounced: "Wu-ni-per-o", Serra, responsible for establishing the San Buenaventura Mission, built in 1782. The Cross was an early landmark for sea-faring cargo ships & used for navigation.

    We are probably coming down there in a few weeks to not only celebrate my hubby’s bday but also look at some retirement options/homes. This video was really helpful. Watched it twice. Midtown might be right for us? Also will look at Camarillo as a back up option. Would love to meet up and get more info.

      We would love to meet up with you and your husband when you are in the area. Midtown is amazing. My sister is looking to move down from Northern California and rented an AirBnb in midtown. They loved it so much they have decided to retire there. We are so happy to hear that you have enjoyed our videos. Wanted to mention that the 9 Neighborhoods also has a written blog with maps on our website and here is the link for that living-inventuracounty.com/living-in-ventura-california-neighborhoods/ We also have a handout with top restaurants and places to go to in Camarillo and will be making one for Ventura before you get here. If you would like, we can email that to you and also provide them in person when you get here. Can't wait to meet you both! Please reach out to us to set up a time before you head out here. Thank you for the overview! I am wondering does one need to make 200k annually to afford a home here in Ventura?

    • @livinginventuracounty1071
      @livinginventuracounty1071  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cost of living has increased since 2020 manly due to the cost of housing but also food and utilities have increased as well. A good website to check out is www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/ventura-ca/los-angeles-ca/50000. One thing residents are talking about this month is the cost of gas for heating the home and such has almost tripled. This happens every winter so it is something to keep in mind if you move here. As for needing to make a certain amount each year to be able to pay your bills...It depends on how much you put down for a house, what interest rate you get and if you rent out a room or portion of your home. We have noticed that more people are renting out a room and are able to make between $1,000-1,500.
      The cost is a trade off for the type of lifestyle someone wants. We don't pay for many activities since we love going to the beach, on hikes and we already paid for the surf and paddleboards. The weather was another thing that drew us here. If you can afford to move here and you love the lifestyle then you wont regret it.
      I hope that answers your question. Thank you so much for the nice feedback!

    The Avenue has a bad reputation for murders and other crimes. Always ask the police department what to expect before you buy a house to find out if you are settling down in a crime ridden area

    • @livinginventuracounty1071
      @livinginventuracounty1071  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great idea to speak with the police department if you are interested in moving to an area. Ventura also has a crime map that they mark where issues have happened. We always recommend our clients to take a look at the map since we are not legally allowed to tell a person to live somewhere or not. The site is www.communitycrimemap.com/ and is provided by Ventura City Police Department.
