Wow! Thanks for such great information. I did not know that there were so many different ways that you could not be covered.
We are so glad you found it helpful! It is good to be prepared for these situations.
Do you have any questions about home insurance or have a story to share?
The PEDESTRIAN mall should remain. If it brings more business to owners that is the most important factor. There is plenty of parking all over Ventura.
Thank you for your comment. It looks like it passed the most recent hurdle. We will be making an updated video soon.
The brewery isn’t noisy. Neither is the highway. We enjoy it here. Parking has gotten worse since they put up all the rest of the apartments. People have parking but insist on parking in the streets in front of our homes.
This is great information. Thank you! Have you heard when more stores and the bowling alley are going to be put in?
I love plant nurseries and farmers markets! Beaches and botanical gardens as well. I played pickleball a few times and looking forward to taking lessons and maybe joining a group eventually. Thank you for this video.
As always, we love your insights and that you share your thoughts with us! If you join a group for pickleball we would love to hear about it. What is your favorite farmers market?
@@livinginventuracounty1071 There is a great one that runs spring through fall in Northridge. There is a small one that's good in Woodland Hills, the one in Calabasas is way too expensive. I haven't been to the one's in Ventura County yet. Looking forward to it.
That is great information, thank you. Barts favorites are currently Ojai, Ventura and Camarillo's. We love that Camarillo's gives back to the community.
I love the idea of a park like setting and having restaurants right there would very cool.
We agree. We just wish they would have had a bedroom /bathroom choice on the main floor. We are looking forward to seeing them once the models are finished.
I would love to live here! I really like how close it is to everything.
It does seem like a fun place to live!
Would you like to live in this type of community?
Neither - Oxnard Channel Islands Harbor area is better and close to the navy base for all the people that work there and the retirees that use the facilities there. Most houses here don’t even have AC, Camarillo and Ventura inland is hot and mountains that get on fire. Good luck getting fire insurance.
It is hard to get better than the Channel Islands Harbor. We walk around there at least twice a week. If you see us please say hi:)
Until you look at the state of the structures in both towns...
Wow, these rooms are tiny. I felt so claustrophobic the whole time. Hate all these new apartments going up. The traffic is so incredibly bad, and the drivers are horrible. It's so crowded and looks awful. They are even crossing vineyard and making apartments in EL RIO. How obnoxious. Like we need "luxury" apartments and more starbucks! They are pushing out the locals for the LA crowd.
It does have a very different urban feel to it. I have been surprised how many new construction homes have decided to go with smaller bedrooms. We rarely hear someone say a bedroom is to large. Instead we hear people not want to buy a place because of that claustrophobic feeling you are talking about.
Is ojai safe from the current fires?😢
Currently, there is not a fire near Ojai. The auto fire in oxnard has not destroyed any homes. It is devastating what has happened with all the fires in LA county. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and animals impacted by them.
@livinginventuracounty1071 Thanks. I had recently wrote to Artist Sergio Aragones. He resides in Ojai. And returned a sketch . Hes 86 years old my heart was aching 💔
I have lived in both cities and currently live in Camarillo. Ventura is fun for nightlife, beaches and access to Santa Barbara. I do not enjoy June gloom but the East end or the end of the Avenue heading to Ojai has a different weather pattern. The first home I owned was on the Avenue by the Pepsi plant and it was sunny and warm there. Camarillo is a family town. My family moved here in the 60's and I enjoy the quieter life and great weather. It is also close to the Conejo Valley, which has great restaurants and shopping. I am staying put in Camarillo but both are great options.
Thanks for sharing your experience, it's great to hear the pros for both from someone who has lived in both cities.
I am always looking for a good place to eat. Where should I go to get some good food? I don't want to spend too much money but for a tasty tikki masala, I would break the bank.
I like Ventura because I am a beach girl and I also love the pedestrian mall.
Those are great reasons to love Ventura. Have you been to old Town Camarillo yet?
@@livinginventuracounty1071 I have. I liked the different shops and used clothes stores. It just doesn't have as many stores as Ventura.
Which city is your favorite and why?
Great video! I had no idea this area existed!
It is a hidden gem. Your kids would love to go to this beach and I think you would enjoy seeing this cute community. Hope you are doing well!!!
haha make $$$
I moved to Oxnard from NYC three years ago. LOL What a trip. I’m loving it so far.
We are so happy to hear you are loving it! We do too. What is your favorite part so far?
@ The climate and beach for sure.
Be careful out there.
Thank you! Oxnard is its own little bubble and we seem to be safe and ok from the fires currently. Thank you for your comment. It means a lot to us.
Its the realest spot in SoCal people are kind and normal-less plastic and obsession with looks. Very sweet people and nice small airport nearby
Great description!
I live in Thousand Oaks and grew up in Camarillo. So I experienced both. If this were the 80s when I was a teen I would say Thousand Oaks hands down. Now it comes down to where you commute. The grade makes a HUGE difference however it's also a natural barrier to protect you from LA. TO has more restaurants Camarillo has better restaurants. When it comes to Mexican food and Sushi Camarillo is far superior. When it comes to pizza Thousand Oaks wins. Thousand Oaks has the best winery and 2 decent breweries Camarillo has Institution Ales which is better than Thousand Oaks breweries. When I was a kid I would say Camarillo had a Orange County expat vibe while Thousand Oaks had a San Fernando valley expat vibe. People in Camarillo rented movies while people in Thousand Oaks made movies. For me now I say you can't go wrong with either city. However I choose Port Hueneme.
That is a lot of great information! Thank you....Port Hueneme is pretty amazing too.
@livinginventuracounty1071 I am a photographer and Port Hueneme is my biggest fan.
I think we have seen some of your amazing work! You are very talented.
@@livinginventuracounty1071 thank you
Lovely mountains ! Twin peaks !
I know. When I saw this it took my breathe away.
Would you like to live in this community? Why or Why not?
They should not have destroyed the old wagon wheel original compound, Oxnard was known for it
I would love to hear more about the old wagon wheel compound. Would you mind telling us more about it?
Used to be a bowling alley and a skating rink there for years, it was quite unique for Oxnard.
I know they are talking about brining back a bowling alley but I know it will not be the same. Whole different feel- more urban and fast pace now.
ive seen the nun in broad daylight walking!! …..during the construction of the remodeling of the building there was an empty lot where it was fenced for security reasons alot of brush and uneven terrain ..the i saw the nun walking through the lot..i was thinking why is a nun walking throught a gated lot? there was no exit! she seemed to be walking towards the convent on G st..but that side had no exit! then I lost sight of where she went….
Wow!!! Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
That part of Oxnard is very heavy with traffic. All units are next door to the freeway.
Yes, it does feel very urban. Some people like that and others don't.
I like how I’ve been in that community center many times
It is a wonderful place! It felt magical while we were there.
Oxnard is surrounded by cities (Ventura, Camarillo) who constantly remind everyone that Oxnard is gang infested, drugs and dangerous city. Thankfully, its all hype. So you people who still believe this BS stay away from Oxnard. We dont need you. Love my city of Oxnard and its great because of its people.
Some of the best people live here!!! We love living here as well.
I want to know more about Newbury Park and how it relates to the Los Angeles area. I may be moving therefore a new job and just wanted to know how everything connects and what are some things to do around Thousand Oaks.
Congrats on your new job opportunity! We're happy to give you some insights into Newbury Park and its connection to Thousand Oaks. Newbury Park is a subdivision of Thousand Oaks. It has newer homes and some gated communities. There are parks and it is known for having the Santa Monica Mountains in its backyard for amazing hiking. You can actually hike or bike ride to the beach from here if you are a hiking or biking enthusiast....(I, myself have not done it). There is a little shopping and the Newbury Park Community Center, officially called the Borchard Community Center, is a hub for recreational activities and community events. However, for most activities you will be traveling, depending on what part of Newbury Park you live in, about 10 to 15 min to go to the Oaks Mall, Cultural Center or to Whole Foods or Trader Joes. There is a lot of information, too much to put in this response. Please feel free to give us a call or shoot us over an email. We are no pressure people and happy to answer any questions you have. team@living-inVenturacounty.com or 805-256-2813
Oxnard is the butthole of Ventura county. Highest crime rates, largest number of gang members, poor education system, highest tax rate, highest concentration of illegal immigrants, and highest population of homeless. I can’t think of anything redeeming about Oxnard. Really bad in Southern California I grew up there, but I avoid going there.
Don’t come to Ventura. Outsiders have ruined it.
WOW. A spectacular holiday lighting 🎉 event!
😁 It is. We used to like to go to the zoo lights or botanical gardens lights in Colorado. Have you been able to get out and see some?
What is your favorite thing about Ventura County? What would you like us to explore next?
I like the harbors (Channel Isles, Ventura) and the opportunity to get out on the ocean.
The harbors are amazing. We were walking there and I think we forgot to mention them. Thank you for bringing them up.😁
Looks so delicious⚘️
It is so yummy. Let me know how you think it tastes
I need that lazy fare.
Lol..don't we all.
Ojai is now just a mirror of LA. My wife's family came to the valley in the late 1800's and had one of the largest cattle ranches in the area as well as orchards. They were the Daly's and the Selby's. My mother in law delivered mail for over 30 years in Ojai and before she passed she said when she walked down the street she wouldn't see a single person she recognized. All the old families have been driven out by the LA crowd and it's now just a shell of the community it once was.
We appreciate you sharing that history of Ojai, and the impact of change. There are still areas where there are a lot of the older residents. I have really enjoyed speaking with people who have lived in Ojai most of their lives and hearing their stories. Thank you again for yours.
Does it need to reach a certain temperature while cooking?
I just stir it until it melts. That seems to be the best and really creamy.
Love this! Thank you
We are so glad you liked it!
I loved living in Ventura County!
It is an amazing place.
Oxnard is a shithole. It is historically a farming community which brings in the migrant population and gangs. Oxnard has the highest crime rate in Ventura County and the highest population of jail inmates in the county jail. The beach areas in this video are decent, but are kind of run down. Back in the day there were some nice hotels and restaurants, but many have gone by the wayside. ie., port royal, whales tale, casa serina, lobster trap, not to mention the defunct fisherman’s warf. This video was well done, but the last thing Ventura County needs is more people from LA coming in.
how busy is the christmas tree lane in Oxnard?
It is really busy from 6-8. I would recommend going around 8 so you can still see the lights just not Santa.
Personally, I avoid the area because I can't go through it like it used to be. I used to frequent some of the restaurants but not anymore. I know I'm in the minority, but I liked it better before.
Thank you for your input. It is good to hear from both sides.
You guys are the best! Thank you for doing these great videos for Ventura county! Merry Christmas from Eric and Curtis at the Henry Levy House!
We appreciate the shout out, Eric and Curtis! Merry Christmas to you too! We just love what you guys do for our community! Some of our favorite people.
Alex’s house is awesome!!
We love Alex and yes his house is awesome!!! However, he will tell you whose house he likes even more than his:).
What is your favorite place to see Christmas Lights?
The firework thing is totally real lol
Yup! We have used more CBD for our dog here than in all of the years we lived in Colorado. lol
It does seem like there are fewer fireworks this year. Have you noticed the same thing?
@@livinginventuracounty1071 yes it’s because I moved out of Oxnard and I took my fireworks with me.
@@XLpacman805 🤣Oh my gosh! You made me laugh so loud.
30 minutes to the beach if you’re walking.
Please don't go here. You will surely die. Rampant crime and shark infested waters. Please visit Los Angeles or Bakersfield instead.
The downtown pedestrian mall is one of the BEST things that has happened to Ventura in a long time. Relaxed dining, music, people meeting each other, businesses doing great. Before the pedestrian mall outdoor dining was miserable, parking difficult. I often chose not to do business downtown.
It's amazing to see how much it has brought to the community! I was walking around last night with a friend. We then walked down to the beach and walked the boardwalk. Ventura is such a special place.
That new construction at wagon wheel looks terrible! It way too crowded looking and we don't need a bunch more people moving here and causing more traffic. The whole thing is a mess! Should never have been allowed
