I use the strap type oil filter wrench on everything from my 2013 Goldwing, my suv, and my 40 foot DP motorhome. I’ve used Fram with no problems. I’m currently using a Mobil 1 oil filter.
Great info Chris. I really like Wix filters, and the Wix 10000 crosses to the Honda Gold Wing OEM. The Wing Stuff wrench fits it fine as well. I'll use the Fram Ultra Gard on my vehicles from time to time and like that textured grip material they put on them. Fram created a little tool niche with that material as it oversizes the filter body a little. Take care.
In general i don't trust Fram, I've seen a lot of videos where they cut them open finding cardboard bipass valves, and done tests for filtering and found them very lacking. Personally I like the wix filters. Napa gold also made by Wix are good. Purolator filters if you can find them are good. As for using a synthetic filter because you are using synthetic oil is just a marketing gimmick. Synthetic oil is a manufactured product where all the oil molecules are the same size, but it's also just oil. It doesn't need a special filter.
This video is not about who makes the best oil filters but you are entitled to your opinion. Fram has been making filters for over 90 years, I personally have been using Fram filters in my vehicles for over 30 years and I’ve never had one issue, I’ve never had an issue using Fram on my motorcycles either besides Fram could not stay in business if they were producing faulty filters. You are correct about not needing a Synthetic filter for synthetic oil because the Honda OEM Filters are not made of Synthetic materials but using Synthetic oil with a 2-ply synthetic media yields 99% filtration efficiency. Fram relief valves are made of coil spring with glass-fiber-reinforced nylon poppet. www.fram.com/products/oil-filters/ultra-synthetic
Good to know, I am switching to the Honda synthetic blend and was wondering about the filter. I will probably stay with the original filter. However, do you know the technical or mechanical difference (internals) between the two filters, Fram vs Honda?
Chris, I have a 1500 Goldwing, and I'm looking for car tires for the front and rear. Where do you get your Car Tires? I've searched the internet but 175/75-R16 are very hard to find. Shalom, Vincent.
The Fram UltraGuard filter is utterly superior to most other filters on the market. If you dont believe it just cut one open and compare to your favorite filter then you will understand.
Have been using Fram all my life, never had any issues.
Well said!
I used Amsoil 10W-40 and the AMSOIL Black Oil Filter
Package Size: EAOM103 on my 2005 GL1800 and love it.
Amsoil make excellent filters, I highly recommend stocking up with Amsoil oil & filters.

The strap was going to be my last ditch effort, other than the Fram Oil Filter cup!
You can run the 7317 variant for more media service and a tad more oil volume

Wix Filters are very good filters, back when I drove a commercial Truck it had a Detroit Diesel and I used Wix oil and Wix fuel Filters.
Been, using Fram for years!
Good information
Thanks!
Great info!
Glad it was helpful!
I used it 3 years
The Honda OEM filter is good but the Fram Ultra Guard Synthetic Oil filter provides 99% filtration efficiency down to 20 microns.

K&N filter with amzoil is what I prefer
K&N filters are a excellent choice!
Doesn't Honda call for 10W30 oil.
Were you paying attention, I said that in the video at 5:15 secs.
@@chriscaliente5033 Had I waited to the end to make the comment I would of heard that as well.
@@stevewolff5970a rider can’t go wrong following the Honda manufacturer recommendations of 10w/30 with a OEM filter.
Thanks for sharing 👍 safe travels. ARKANSAS Badlands
Thanks 👍

When it comes to tires, I shop around for the best deals.
I hate that Honda is now producing their oil filters in china, and at increase in cost.
Fram Filters are made in the USA, their headquarters are in Cleveland Ohio.
@@chriscaliente5033 Nice, most people tend to judge them.
I’m not sure why, Fram has been around since the 1930’s. www.fram.com/about-us/history
Nothing wrong with Fram. I think the cardboard endcap debate is BS. It seals better on steel than steel-on-steel.
I agree 💯%.
Noooo, not fram. It's the worst filter you can buy!
I guess that’s why Fram has been in business for 92 years because they make the worst filters!
