BONDERAM-Divar Island harvesting the art and culture of love, peace and harmony

Bonderam- a centuries old tradition is the harvest festival of Divar island and is celebrated on 4th Saturday of August by the Piedade Youth Association at Divar, a small island of Goa. The island is located at around 12 kms from Panjim and one needs to board a ferry to cross the river Mandovi, that is the only mode through which you can visit the place. This year marks the 39th edition of the PYA Bonderam festival and was celebrated with fervor with dance, floats, music and fancy dance competitions. The festival begins with the flag parade and brass brand. The Bonderam festival is declared open after this. Beautiful fancy dress competition follows the flag parade with categories for different age groups. We can see participants as small as 3 years old till 70s. After this float parade follows with the participants dancing in groups to the tune of local Goan folk music. The color floats parades and dances concludes by the dusk and then more youngsters from across Goa flock at the island to experience the music festival which goes on till 10 pm. We didn't cover the music event as we won't be able to add in the video because of the copyright issues.
