  • Hampi is a dream for explorers, historians, architects. Once there lived a king with rich heritage, where people stayed happily, the city of temples was called Vijaynagar and was ruled by Krishnadevaraya and till today the structures that stands tall even after destruction.
We visited the first place in Hampi and it is my lover's temple- Balkrishna temple. After visiting diamond and gold market. Our first destination was Balkrishna temple where the idol is in Chennai museum.
At the entrance you can see Dashavtaram, Garuda- vahana of vishnu is carved, Yallis are seen at the entrance. As this temple was built after victory of king over Odisha, we see influence of Konark temples carving on this temple as well. There are Krishna and Vishnu stories on all the walls.
The area is huge and there is Krishna bazaar in front of temple and was famous for its spices, one commendable thing is Pushkarni that's well , where lot of water could be stored.
For human consumption, the city or nagar was built by architect, genius as it was so well organised during ancient times. There is a donation box outside the temple where people donated rice. Bhojana Shala is a place where food was cooked and was served on stone plates close to bhojnalay and a water stream was passing from the center where food was served. Recently a new Pushkarni was excavated that connected the stream of bhojanalay. Hampi only excited you didn't drain you but train you to respect what our ancestors have passed on. Most of the sites at Hampi closes at 6 pm.So while you plan watch keeps ticking☺️ . Wait for another exciting episode of #Namratastraveltrails from Hampi.
