The rule could be that if someone falls/loses a life THEN they are allowed to place an intermediate as their next piece. They would have to spend their turn during that or risk falling on the same move again; so it kinda balances out that way.

@@TonyFisherPuzzles XD I didn't mean risk of injury. I mean strategic risk of failing the same move twice. This is a really fun concept!! Definitely wanna see you complete this problem in the next video too. Definitely love that idea! A few suggestions Magnus:
    1) Rule 1) You are only allowed to put a hold higher than the last one that was set
    2) Maybe a double ticket, meaning that you can set up two boulders once per session
    3) Trying this on a climbing wall that you have much more way to go
    4) All holds have to be used while climbing
    5) The setter sets also the move
Just some ideas to spice that up

Years ago we played something similar on the spray wall. We called it 2+2 an you were allowed to define the next two holds, BUT there was the extra rule, that you had to be able to hold on to the second hold you define for like two or three seconds without touching any other hold (like a top). (The rules for the foothold varied.)
If you are playing it the way I described it, you are forced to set moves, that you are really able to do, but since you are allowed to define the next TWO holds, you can still set really difficult stuff or dynamic stuff or so on.

Idea for climbing chess. An already placed start and end hold, a single bucket of holds is provided to player 1 and 2 i.e. player 1 and player 2 use a single bucket of holds (could be assorted or selected by number of crimps, slabs etc). Each player must then make a move. There are two moves, either finish the climb or add a hold, if a player decides to add a hold then they loose their turn to climb in that same turn, after player 1 makes their move, player 2 makes their move and so on. If all the hold are used, then the player can move a hold placed on the wall, note only holds from the bucket can be moved. Players cannot test their holds once placed on the wall.
Add or tweak if needed, I am going to try this today!

The shirt could be "TAKE OFF (or "remove") FOR POWER"
And maybe incorporate a graphic of one of those "break glass in case of emergency" alarms

"Foreword: Writing a book is something that I've wanted to do for many years - to get things down on paper while everything is fresh in my memory, and as a compliment to my TH-cam videos." Book just arrived and I'm super pumped to dive in. Shoutout to KaVe Publishing for their support. M. W. Consiglio, Dallas TX

Challenge idea: blindfolded and guided. Put a blindfold on, and get one of your climbing buddies to guide you up, telling you where your next hold is. Would probably have to do something normally less challenging to be safe, but it could be a fun game of who can guide who up a route quickest.

Magnus and Pete will always be the best climbing collab although there are quite a few really good ones.

I'd love to get some videos of you breaking down a boulder and how you assess the holds, to identify the right type of grip or foot placement

It'd be fun to have like one intermediate "option" per person. That way you have to choose when you're going to use it or save it for later!

A fun video as usual, especially when you have Pete on. I just wanted to make a script suggestion: instead of "...so make sure to watch to the end" I think it sounds less clunky to say "After the game we have a challenge for Pete..." or "...and then after we're done Pete tries to hang from...". I'm already going to watch your whole video; I clicked on a 24 minute video on purpose. You don't have to request that I watch the whole thing, that's what I'm here for.

I have no interest in climbing, don't climb myself... yet this video and the ones with the special forces have filled my feed for the past 3 days.
