An old school climbing vlog where you zoom out on a problem, have some post production highlights of the holds and just talk how to read beta from the floor would also be fun, but ai agree these old school vids are absolute gas
Honestly the best part about this video is that I didn't really notice a difference in the editing. You picked someone who cares as much as you do to edit your videos
Also no, you are absolutely wrong, climbers will not get bored on these types of videos. I'll watch every one of them you make because I have learned SO much by watching the way you move and think through problems. Literally every boulder I try and fail on, "how would magnus do this?" then it becomes a question of "do I need to get stronger, or do I need to climb smarter?" Usually it's not a matter of "need more strong" (although clearly there's things I can't do yet, they're also above my grade range so I'm patient and training for it). Things inside my grade range can 99.9% be solved by "climb smarter" - and watching the way you use body dynamics, feet, center of gravity, flags, smears, etc all help. You've often said "I'm not a good coach" but you cannot discount the sheer volume of climbing you have shown the world. (Any parent can attest to this next bit!) People learn by example and watching you has helped me improve rapidly. Just by trying to emulate things you do, I have suddenly found that "wow that feels so natural" and now it's just part of how I climb.
yeah, the answer to the question, more technical boulders or more powerful boulders, I say more any boulders. It is good to see Magnus having fun getting a bit more back into climbing, even if the things like military fitness challenges are fun to watch. Watching Magnus climbing is definitely also helpful to my climbing journey. (Shirtless is better for learning too because then you can see things like braced core vs crunched, scapula extended or not, definitely not just because Magnus is buff ;)
@@shadowzeus2Yes shirtless is definitely better! lol! Seriously though I agree with you, it lets us see what muscle groups he's engaging on different movements. I swear his muscles spontaneously grow more muscles on demand when he makes the most powerful moves!
This channel feels like a cozy, quiet reading room that is insulated from the big party going on in the main channel. We talk like friends here, instead of watching a show. Really like this 2nd channel.
I miss old school TH-cam like this. It’s a relaxing approach when I’m taking a break, and doesn’t try to over stimulate the viewer. Kudos for bringing this back!
(Non-climber here): I think it’s cool if you include all of the boulders that you do, powerful or technical. This makes it fun and refreshing for me, as well as seeing the different sides to the sport. Also impressive to watch regardless…
Pumped for the Toby collab. Please don't fall for the attention span meme, those people who can only watch shorts may exist, but they're a far smaller audience than they're made out to be, and generally just consumers indifferent to the form of content getting pushed on them. They're the same people who will watch, in its entirety, a 6 hour video essay of some random insignificant detail in a game or movie. No need to shift to either extreme, just make want you want. Gimmicks and novelty bring views and spice things up, but intimacy and personality are what separate every good channel/creator from every other one, and make you unique. I love Toby.
Yes! Both for Toby and for the attention span thing. Storror is actually a good example of a channel that still puts out lots of long videos that people love to watch. I do watch shorts too, but a lot of the time I watch videos while I'm eating or washing the dishes, so I specifically choose longer videos for those moments.
Like you mentioned, the video felt super nostalgic for me too. I used to watch all full boulder videos of you. I loved them, the vibe, the music, just for relaxing and enjoying. Also, congrats to the editors, for nailing the vibe of magnus cutting that good. I would love a lot more videos like this again. Some talking in between about your life and stuff makes it soo cool
100% love the “old school” climbing videos! These are the type of videos that really improved my bouldering. Also I personally like it when it’s a mix of technical and powerful boulders
This kind of content is the one of the main reasons I got into bouldering a few years ago. I remember watching some of your oldest videos climbing with your sister, Eric Karlsson or just alone with random people. Just pure trial & error bouldering, with different approaches and a super deep insight in every route. I just learned so much just by watching. Even with the massive skill gap, I can see myself and my friends reflected in those videos. You are absolutely right when you say you had to change videos to be shorter and straight to the point, but I think anyone who is really into climbing and bouldering will enjoy this kind of more slow-paced, chill content.
Magnus, I’m so happy to see your channels thriving and yes I love this type of video. You as well as Pete and Tom got me so psyched about the sport when I started climbing early 2020 and I’m still loving it. My favorite videos of all time are still your first trip to Sheffield to visit Pete and Tom. Watching you climb in videos like these, I climb a lot better the next day, seeing the movements and your dynamic style really helps. I actually have the image in my head of you climbing and I see the moves you did on the wall as I climb and read the beta. It’s helped tremendously. I’m a lot better at reading beta from watching your videos, especially the one where you and Anton tried to flash every boulder. Thanks for being you, can’t wait for the next video.
Answer to your question at ~ 4:15 I personally have a strong preference for seeing you climb technical stuff. Watching you do some crazy powerful move is cool and all, but not really useful or relatable. Seeing you work your way through something technical and difficult is way more fun than just seeing you be strong. Obviously you're really strong, but the technical work is more engaging to watch. Also, as you mention at 9:48 the algorithm definitely has changed. I know I'm only one viewer, but I think this format is worlds better than your more gimmicky or flashy content where you go undercover and stuff. I came here for strong climbing and a fun personality, and this kind of video is the best format for that. While I understand why you can't make tons of this style, but I appreciate that you still do it sometimes!
i feel like its very smart to only upload climbing vids/vlogs on this channel. This is because the viewerbase are all climbers which leads to a really high clickrate. And high clickrate means more exposure. What i'm trying to get at is that this type of content could work really well for the algo if he uses it more. Having a lot of different content on the same channel is also bad for algo
Nooooo, it's too short !! 😭 We need longer ASMR climbing videos like this. Not sure if you had upgraded, but I felt that your shooting quality is getting better, and I love them, Make more like this and longer 😖
Get bored of these?! Are you kidding me? I love these kinds of videos. This is what I started watching you with these kinds! Always great to learn, chill to watch. Please keep them coming. I really like technical overhang also lol.
I went to a climbing gym for the first time last and have been obsessing ever since. I've never seen your channel before but I stumbled upon a lot of your older videos. I'm glad you made this more recently as this is exactly what I'm looking to watch as a new climber. Hopefully there will be more to come, thank you!
its so nice to see you just climbing and talking again. its also a great motivation to see you talking while you send boulders that I will have to train another 7 years probably. Love it
The climbing you do always looks awesome, whether technical or powerful. I think the biggest reason why I love these types of videos is your talking to us about yourself and it makes us feel more connected to you and just shows how humble and decent you really are! Love it been watching for years and will be for years to come!!
Wow! This is what I came here for. I started watching this channel as inspiration! I lost 30 pounds, and went up from VB to v7!! This is NEVER boring. These videos changed my whole life
Watching Magnus climb while watching Magnus Carlsen playing chess live against Ding Liren in the background on the TV is some kind of insane 17 minutes of content-heaven.
These are my favorite videos, what got me into watching climbing and now finally finding a gym not far I have started my own journey. Low effort but more direct and open as a person makes the best content IMO.
New editor is great! Personally I never grow bored of your pure climbing videos, no matter if technical or powerful. What I would really love is a throwback vlog-style multi-episode video of you on a climbing trip somewhere.
I like the causal bouldering, talking to the camera about things style. It feels homey, and kinda like when I am at the gym myself. Sure I might have a session where I really dig down and project. But most of the time in the gym is spent on the ground talking to friends about unrelated topics.
These types of videos have always been my favorite! Fun bouldering and random ramblings are the best! Thanks for putting this out and I hope to see more coming from More Magnus in the futute!
I miss these older-style videos! I know I speak for a lot of us when I say your casual personality and vlogs always feel so comforting to watch! Thank you Magnus, I love that these vlogs are back
I started watching your videos just recently and since I usually consume cozy and sporty content this channel got recommended to me and it’s perfect dude, i know just binging everything gave me a perspective on both channels and how they’re so different and this one’s just perfect like this, chill climbing, talking, enjoying, teaching, good stuff 😎
I really love that you are doing videos like this again. It's cool, impressive and also somehow relaxing to watch them. Even as I love bouldering and climbing myself I don't look that much at your technique but I like to see how you move, place your feet, shift your weight etc. For learning more from these videos it would be a cool extra to have something like a comment how you technically solve the boulders.
I really love this style of video! No clickbaity stuff, no crazy collabs, just some cool climbing on some cool boulders. Also I enjoy technical boulders a LOT more because I can learn so much from them as a new climber. Powerful boulders are cool but not really replicable for me personally
I like the videos that show a good mix of technical and powerful boulders. I especially like seeing you process through a boulder and struggle through some moves because it helps me feel a sense of camaraderie as I go through the same things at the gym (at a much lower level!)
I like the climbing mixed with some non-climbing commentary. I find it more personal, natural, and fun. Btw, I am definitely loving the craft chalk bucket and mag dust... I have no regrets about ordering it to Canada!
This was so nostalgic !! Hope to see more of your climbing vlogs on this channel 🙌🏻🙌🏻 it gives me so much inspiration to be a better climber I really liked how you kinda explained what moves you should do for some of the problems and what went wrong. Especially on the more technical boulders
These are my favorite videos on your whole channel! I love seeing your thought process and your technique. It's really helpful for me as an amateur. Please make more!
I don't have a preference for technical vs brute strength boulders, but there were some things I noticed on the last three: Black Boulder - Letting us hear your planned route beforehand was super interesting. I'd be curious to know why you are doing the moves you're doing. Could you do it a different way and it would just be harder? Is it preference? Yellow Boulder - Talking about how the certain grips wear out your skin, how do you assess what is the right way to do a climb? The was lots of weight shifting and foot movement on the last half. Why? I'm sure the simple answer is because otherwise you'd fall, and it's all about security. But like...do you NEED to do a toe hook? Would you fall if you didn't? Slab of the Week - You were talking about the way the slab is supposed to be done: I'm sure the route setter has a planned way in mind, but is there really a wrong way to do it, if you finish it? Let's say I'm really good at dinoing things and big dynamic movements (I'm not, but we can pretend) is it "wrong" to use that skill on every boulder? Or am I just potentially making it harder on myself? Maybe voiceover of what your thought process is while you're doing the boulders, or why you're switching grips/etc. Love these videos and glad to see them make a comeback!
Super stoked to see these videos coming back, I used to watch these kind of videos from you when I was first getting into climbing. Feels weirdly nostalgic even though it doesn’t seem like that long ago lol
I do not believe that you need to make quick and flashy videos people are begging for long form videos again. The worst thing TH-cam has ever done is adding shorts. Im a big fan of having 30 minutes of video of a person I love to watch than 10 minutes. Especially these videos they are so fun and listening to you talk is just so enjoyable. You’re doing great man and you aren’t boring anyone!
To be honest it's so refreshing to watch this kind of video, I usually watch maybe 2-3 minutes on your main channel and then I close it, but this one I watched whole.
I'm so happy this style of video is back. These are some of my favourite videos. I think a mix of the technical and powerful is great, but I personally find the technical boulders are more fun to watch in a longer video because they are often more complex and varied.
Love this speed of video SO much more. It’s actually relaxing, unlike the stressful speed of modern YT. Thanks Magnus. For types of climbs, I love both - a healthy mix! Love seeing the technical work through, especially with your commentary during or after, and I also love the power climbs. It’s all just good vibes, really appreciate this. Please more!
To be honest, Magnus. I just enjoy watching you climb. I love the vibe, the music and watching someone enjoy something he or she does. So you do you! I'll probably enjoy it if you enjoy it as well. I'm going bouldering in an hour or so, and your climbing videos just hype me up.
Man, it's so nice you came back to basics!! It's good to have this essential channel about climbing along side the other one for more entertainment purposes. Powerful Vs. technical? Imposible to decide. I would love to see both and have you explaining the different approaches. Thanks for all your videos!! amazing content.
I enjoy watching you figure out the techniques on the difficult boulders, as i then steal those techniques shamelessly and it makes me a better climber! I do enjoy the power moves as well too because it helps boost my confidence for what is possible physically! So a mix of both, or whatever you want! Im excited for the collabs as well, this channel is really popping off lately.
I started bouldering about half a year ago. I have been addicted since! Your videos have made a significant impact on my climbing experience, it for one made lowered the bar to try for the first time (getting to know the basics due to your videos). It also helped me progress with insightful tips and techniques. I did my first 6C+ yesterday and i will be attending my first flashtest (competition) next month. You certainly are a huge inspiration to me and many others. I hope to meet you one day :) Keep up the great content! (love the old school climbing style videos)
Loved this video! I started watching not long ago, probably at the end of last year, and you were definitely the main reason I got into bouldering at 26. Now I go at least 1-2 times a week, and it's such an amazing physical hobby. I'm very excited to see the collab with PewDiePie. I used to watch him when I was a young teen, It kinda tapered off over the years, but I still catch up from time to time just because of his persona. I definitely have the same feeling towards these kind of videos on your second channel. Honestly, I'm not into the recent fast content you put on your main channel, which is why I had to catch up on a lot of your old videos. This one here felt like those old videos, and I enjoy watching it way more. I feel like it creates a more personal connection to you as a down-to-earth guy. Please continue doing them!
Really love these videos Magnus, definitely make more since you and your audience both enjoy them. Also, I like seeing a mix of powerful and technical boulders, as I like to climb both styles myself :)
I started watching your videos at the beginning of the pandemic. They comforted me through some tough times and made me fall in love with climbing. Now I climb 3-4 times a week and can't imagine doing otherwise. I learned so much from your videos, both in technique and mindset. Thank you Magnus. Keep up the amazing work!
-More technical or powerful boulders?
-Yes!
lol I was going to say both!
Yes is the only acceptable answer ... and more!
Yes! Variety is great, and this video had great variety.

Super stoked to see these videos coming back, I used to watch these kind of videos from you when I was first getting into climbing. Feels weirdly nostalgic even though it doesn’t seem like that long ago lol
Love it, Magnus. I agree, feels very nostalgic - please, do more of these, the cozy "family" feeling is great
I enjoy watching you climb outdoors most. Especially with Alex and Adam!
I LOVE these videos! This is what I've been craving! I even really just like the real talking/rambling between climbs, these videos are perfect!
To be honest it's so refreshing to watch this kind of video, I usually watch maybe 2-3 minutes on your main channel and then I close it, but this one I watched whole.
At this point, you could film yourself cooking eggs on a hot plate in the middle of the gym and I’d still be watching.
Never get bored of this style of video. Glad you're bringing them back on this channel
Happy to hear about the co-lab with Toby. Guy is actually such a sick climber and just a chill down to earth dude.
Thanks for all your videos!! amazing content.
loved these videos 3 years ago and love them now, definitely should keep them going every now and then!
Crazy how Magnus has the biggest climbing channel and will soon have the second biggest as well
These videos and your chilled collabs with Pete are just the best; we need more of both (please)!
These chill vlog like climbing videos are really the best, they feel like being climbing with a friend. Please never stop doing them Magnus!
Love this format. Great video!
I hope to meet you one day :)
Keep up the great content! (love the old school climbing style videos)
I love that you do a variety of both technical and powerful.
Super excited you made one of these videos again! Hope to see more!
Love the technical boulders, nice inspiration for us route setters
The edits are great Sam thanks for the awesome quality
I would not be bored with more of these videos at all!!
Thank you for making this content! I used to absolutely love your training/vlog videos and I've missed them alot
please keep making these types of videos magnus I will never get bored!
I really enjoy the mix of both kinds of boulders as well as hearing about your thought process while figuring them out!
Really love these videos Magnus, definitely make more since you and your audience both enjoy them. Also, I like seeing a mix of powerful and technical boulders, as I like to climb both styles myself :)
Very cool to see an old school, more chill and ‘personal’ video :)
Love these kinds of videos
I really enjoy these videos, keep them coming Magnus. I enjoy watching a variety of boulders
This format is the best; more of it deffo
YES! More session videos please these are the best :3
a mix of techy and powerful in the same video is fun to watch!
Love this type of video Magnus, please make this a regular thing!
YES more of these please!!
I like the mix of technical boulders and powerful boulders
I missed these so much!! Thanks for bringing the format back, they're really enjoyable. I wouldn't mind one of these once a month of something
I love these videos and their calmness. Very easy to sit with and watch.
