Yeah, we kind of have this unwritten rule of size tax - big cars are always really expensive in Europe for some reason. The bigger the car, the more visible the price difference. For example, buying a similarly equipped Hyundai Elantra in Poland and the USA costs a similar amount of money (with a small advantage for the USA), while buying a Santa Fe in Poland requires spending about 35-40% more money than in the USA (Calligraphy HEV: just under 70k dollars)

Too expensive compared to US, and in typical "Hyundai" fashion - not a single Euro spent on making it "Euro-Spec", typical "slap a lightbulb / five cent led strip into rear bumper and call it a day", instead of redesigning the light cluster to include turning indicators...
If I'm not mistaken, various European countries have regulations now that state the rear indicators can't be obscured when the boot lid is open. Same reason various Audis have, in the past, had additional lights either on the bumper or inside the boot itself for when the boot door is open.

But i do appreciate that you at least took dimensions of the trunk which is obnoxiously hard to find because the companies only want to compare cargo space volumetricly, without actually showing the breakdown of massing that provides that volume.
I really like the look of it from both inside and out but i feel the pricepoint for the EU market is too high. You can get the new Kodiaq with similar spec 10 000€ cheaper.
How would you compare the Santa-fe PHEV vs the Skoda Kodiaq PHEV? Besides the loss of the third row seats in the Skoda PHEV, I feel the engine is better in the Kodiaq, plus the eletric range is better. However I would like to know what you think in this comparison.

That beep is awfully annoying every time you click something on the infotainment, but really cool looking car. I saw one yesterday driving back to the dealership for a brief second. Looks good in person too.
Being a fan of Hyundai, I have to say they lost to Mazda, in all departments. The CX-60 is better looking, has better sounding and more powerful engines and the interior quality between the two is night and day. Mazda only loses in interior space - and how many people need seven seats anyway? Btw, the interior quality of the CX-60 is better than a Mercedes. I recently enjoyed a ride in a GT AMG - worse than a Hyundai - that's a 120k euro car...
Super slow acceleration. I imagine how speedy it is with 6 7 people and some luggage inside. Why they do not put 2.0 turbo engine with hybrid to make it around 7 seconds.
We dont get the new Santa Fe here, only the GV80, which, I think, looks much better, especially the interior. In euro is about 60-80k. Old Santa-Fe, produced locally, is just 18-25k euro, the only engine choice is a 2.0 petrol. For 2 model years we also had the Palisade, about 40k euro.
A necessary review, but one which does not set the heart racing. I am sure someone needs to buy one of these but just not me. The PHEV version is interesting because a family could do a lot of local mileage on pure EV and this would be especially cost effective if they can charge at home on an off peak tariff (in the UK). It is noticeable how the seven seats compromise the boot space, and if you really have a seven seat family the luggage and other clutter is going to have to go on the roof or be towed.
Servus Thomas, Great video as always. I would like to see the comparison of the best 7-seater mid-size SUV. What do you think about the Mercedes GLB 200 7-seater for family compared to Tiguan Allspace, Kodiaq or others? I am planning to buy 7 seater soon.

The rear boxy like that is a hard pass, same likethe turning indicator so low in the bumper- big no. Also in this price range why are there no controls for the 3zone climate? U got a boxy car and round keys? Idk… Hyundai is doing great progress but need couple of more generations so they can refine their product line. It’s still all over the place.

in Korea the base model starts from 23.000 euro, top specs model is around 30.000 euro, new Kia Sorento is the same price, that's for the models with 2.2 diesel or 2.5 turbo benzin, last year when these 2 models appeared on the market i was wondering if i buy Sorento or Santa Fe, but i really didn't like the back of Santa Fe, it's too big and interior looks like some ugly truck, Sorento feels more luxurious and refine and i like it very much
If they made a compact wagon or hatchback with the boxy design I would be all over it,. This thing is too large for my needs (and I say that as an American)
Thanks, Great review, it makes for me easier decision not to buy it, unfortunately 1,6 engine is too small for such a car, also to Europe you can’t even choose colours of interior or wheels
Sorento looks way better, especialy at the exterior. It's a delicate way to say that Santa Fe is realy ugly in my opinion. And both vehicles (Santa Fe and Sorento) need a more powerful engine. It's a pitty such big vehicles are underpowered. Only Touareg - as a mainstream brand - dare to offer powerful engines?!?!?
The biggest turnoff for me with German vehicles is the inherent unreliability. Lots of this are attributed to poor engineering and design, which creates parts that are consumable that historically were not. I would be picking the Hyundai to beat the German vehicles on reliability.
Another one of those we wount get here because of "fOrCeD eLeCtRiFiCaTiOn!" Meh.. Rear is a tad too boxy anyways, nice car other than that.. F my government!
This is a very urgly vehicle, its boxy, its clear they were aiming at land rover, except the design was not executed properly. It cant go offroad like a land rover , Its slow , and the fuel economy is bad in the petrol version.
Nope. A bloke across the road from me works for the local Hyundai dealer. He had one in puke green the other day, it looked horrendous, and this is from a house that has it's fourth Santa Fe sitting on the driveway.

Great video as always. I would like to see the comparison of the best 7-seater mid-size SUV. What do you think about the Mercedes GLB 200 7-seater for family compared to Tiguan Allspace, Kodiaq or others? I am planning to buy 7 seater soon.

우리나라에는 한국판 a6(그랜져)가 있습니다.
What's the EV range?
It looks like a funeral car! 😅
Very interested to compare it with CX-80. Engine wise this looks just sad...
Do You have a schedule You will try CX-80?

great vehicles and review
🙏🙏
Is there a massage in the seats ?
The rear boxy like that is a hard pass, same likethe turning indicator so low in the bumper- big no. Also in this price range why are there no controls for the 3zone climate? U got a boxy car and round keys? Idk… Hyundai is doing great progress but need couple of more generations so they can refine their product line. It’s still all over the place.
Like the XM great front, terrible rear =P😈
Vorne Südkorea 🇰🇷, hinten Nordkorea 🇰🇵
Audi Q7 has 6 isofix in the car.
Gongratulations Thomas and Lia !! So she said YES ! I just accidently saw on 10:58 her Wedding Ring💍So happy for you! She wonderful and it is obvious how much you adore her. Of course you would when she is the better half of the family 😉😄 Enojoy eachouther, you both lovely pepople !!! ♥
hehe thanks my friend!
in Korea the base model starts from 23.000 euro, top specs model is around 30.000 euro, new Kia Sorento is the same price, that's for the models with 2.2 diesel or 2.5 turbo benzin, last year when these 2 models appeared on the market i was wondering if i buy Sorento or Santa Fe, but i really didn't like the back of Santa Fe, it's too big and interior looks like some ugly truck, Sorento feels more luxurious and refine and i like it very much
12:40 😉😂😂
If they made a compact wagon or hatchback with the boxy design I would be all over it,. This thing is too large for my needs (and I say that as an American)
That first storage box is for their 9mm..
Hmm...3rd row has climate vent, the 2nd row though doesn't .
The short range of the battery means i woul never have it as a company car.....works out expensive vs others
No way this is mid size in the US…or is it?😮
VW even launched the Atlas as “mid size” in the US
@@autogefuehl just checked the dimensions of that thing 😭
hehe yeah different measures
Compact in US ;)
The front design looks like it came out from Roblox lol
I can't get over how the rear looks. Hyundai Ioniq 6 and now Santa Fe ... Hyundai what you doing?
Thank you, manuell climate controll 🤗
😎
The front is Dacia like
Thanks, Great review, it makes for me easier decision not to buy it, unfortunately 1,6 engine is too small for such a car, also to Europe you can’t even choose colours of interior or wheels
Thanks keep following!
Looks like minivan
I wish they build more minivans. More practical and cheaper, less heavy.
Just came back from the US where I asked me often, how ugly this US Hyundai is… and now it comes to Europe… 😮
Thats expensive. I bought highest tier. (in built hybrid) in AU for around 47K Euro.
The biggest turnoff for me with German vehicles is the inherent unreliability. Lots of this are attributed to poor engineering and design, which creates parts that are consumable that historically were not. I would be picking the Hyundai to beat the German vehicles on reliability.
LegoLand 😅
Cool in/outside, same shitty engine/drivetrain like in the former model ! Few will buy !
Good style. Weak engines, weak electric motors, low e-range and no heat pump.
This car needs a diesel engine!!!
Only 1100kg towing capacity!! Ridiculous!
Hideous design!!!
Another one of those we wount get here because of "fOrCeD eLeCtRiFiCaTiOn!" Meh.. Rear is a tad too boxy anyways, nice car other than that.. F my government!
Ioniq 5 to this what happened 😮😂
👏
Minecraft edition?
This is a very urgly vehicle, its boxy, its clear they were aiming at land rover, except the design was not executed properly.
It cant go offroad like a land rover ,
Its slow , and the fuel economy is bad in the petrol version.
Impressive interior but stupid exterior. However it's still nice choice
ALABAMA!
Offenbach OF
2 bones hanging at the back of the car, the rear design is too bad, I bought skoda kodiaq2024 sportline.
This video was a disappointment to me. I expected more. And I don't think it was just me.
Nope. A bloke across the road from me works for the local Hyundai dealer. He had one in puke green the other day, it looked horrendous, and this is from a house that has it's fourth Santa Fe sitting on the driveway.
Ugly and expensive!
To much like a box. 1980s
Still, like all Korean cars, biping for everything... Anoying.
Lego car xD
😁
ugly design i didnt like it at all
One of the ugliest cars on the market. Looks like a Ssangyong design.
More than 60 k for a Huyndai🤣
