My all-time favorite go-to tarp is still my DD 4x4 meter tarp. There is so much I can do with this tarp including configuring it as a completely enclosed shelter. My favorite way to use it is as a hammock tent.
Bought a similar DD Tarp awhile back. It was a good investment. As an old guy, I've tried them all... the new light ripstop tarps are worth it. If you don't own one, go for it.
There are so many ways to tie these tarps. During winds I tie an edge against the car roof rack. For a sun shelter at the beach I use higher centre poles, and short poles on the corners so that we can look all around. Care with fire embers.
Love my Alton tarp. Have had plenty of great camps under hootchie and the blue and the green/silver tarps. It's great showing people they don't need expensive gear to camp Great video!
Nice trick with the tautline hitch instead of a prusik. If you finish the tautline by feeding just a bite through it becomes quick release, really handy if you have a long working end. Cheers 🇨🇦 love your content
Nice one John simple and to the point and hopefully will be helpful to newbie's. I have been watching Dave Canterbury and it doesn't look like he's going to try and beat your ridgeline time (mind you I don't think anyone could) LONG LIVE THE KING OF THE CORD Been a bit crook of late not getting younger that's for sure. All the best John the pom
Unexpected pleasure finding you. Great video. My daughter lives in Sidney, was there for a visit a few months ago. Really enjoyed your country. Well Sidney, didn't get to the outdoors. Many thanks for the video. Arkansas, USA.
@@OutdoorAcademyAustralia crazy hey? Last calendar year I went from 6 to 7 000 subscribers. This year I had a few videos do very well & suddenly it shoots up! Should hit 40 k within a day or two it's crazy.
@@OutdoorAcademyAustralia exactly. There's no rhyme or reason sometimes but as long as a guy enjoys it. Coming into winter here. We had 8.5 inches of snow the other day & -12. Thankfully it looks like it's going to be mild for a while again. You're moving into summer. What will you see for temperatures?
Thanks, always lots to learn from your videos. I don't think your affiliate link in the description is working properly in the youtube app. It seems everything after the ? is excluded from the url.
Nothing really. I was attaching a length of cordage to the tarp so it was easier just to tie it straight to the ridgeline. I don't run prusics on all my ropes.
This guy is a badass!! No nonsense, just kickass info! I'd buy you a few beers!

2:21 Actually you CAN buy the Alton Tarp in store. They have a shop in Brisbane and are stocked in every Paddy Pallin as well as All Goods.
Thanks for that. I knew about Brizzy but didn't know Paddy Pallin stocked them. I usually don't shop there.
Great verbal and visual explanation, on point, easy to understand, no unnecessary filler-talk.
Overall solid 10/10 content.
Subscription well earned!
Cheers mate. I believe in the KISS principle. I'm not into watch hours
Welcome aboard

WHAT Size Blue Tarp is that and the Manufactor? 3x3 ( 10x10) etc.
It's a 3×3.6 or 10×12 SCA tarp from Super Cheap Auto
