I’d really like to see a desktop sound module running on the same engine. As stated previously I’m not a fan of the stepping but I love the sounds. You can make some magnificent performances with this!
finally someone showed us how rythme sounds like in this instrument . please do more of these not just sound . i get shocked some people review Piano on synth !!! this is the last thing i want to hear is Piano . thank you very much
Je viens de me séparer de mon Korg 01/W fd, et j’envisage un nouveau synthétiseur... J’avais aussi un PA-50, alors je m’interrogeais sur un Yamaha PSR-SX700 au même tarif que ce MODX6 !... Bien sûr, pas la même utilisation ! Mais parfois je peux avoir besoin d’accompagnement mais ce n’est pas vital... L’idée serait de pouvoir jouer les sons que j’aime pour le plaisir, voir jouer pour composer...). Les styles que j’aime : électro, et musique de film, symphonique... lol J’adore les nappes et les cordes, les voix, les sons célestes et Electro.... Autant j’aime Deep Forest que Hans Zimmer ! :D Alors, me conseilleriez-vous ce MODX6 ?... merci ! ;)

Clavier soft du montage,mais excellent pour ces sonorités d'origine en complément d'un autre clavier. A part cela,qu'il soit en plastique et qu'il ait moins de choses que son grand frère le Montage,cela reste un détail,car l'important reste de faire de la musique.
Such a great presentation. Nice stereo sound, and going through the presets like this gives one a good idea of the MODX's sound. especially interested in the FM part so i can finally retire my heavy SY99 from gigging. Merci Beaucoup, Les Sondiers! :)
Hey byebyecali, i'm picking mine up next week and one of the first things i will do is try to get my favorite SY99 voices over to the MODX7. Through .syx files or perhaps just copying the parameters of the AFM elements, see how that sounds. It might not be a 1 on 1 duplicate, also due to processing, circuitry, different fx etc. I will keep you updated!

I have looked and looked and consulted a few people on forums, and i've come to the conclusion that, although one might come close to the SY99 (with some clever editing and layering of FM parts within a MODX performance) I'd like to hang onto my SY99 for those characteristic sounds and filters/circuitry for sure. The MODX definitely doesn't replace it, but it's a light weight FM addition. I am however currently using Sample robot to successfully auto-sample (with 8 velocity layers to get as much dynamics as possible) some of my favorite SY99 voices. That works very well actually. It does eat up the flash ram of the MODX, but i also have a Kronos so i can split the burden. Btw, the new home is nice! I have room for all my keys again! How have you been? :)
Hi, how can i permanently upload a loop or style onto modx via USB. Have tried this and i can actually play the beats when the USB is connected but i want the style to be permanently stored on the keyboard? Thanks
The Voice/Performance/Song/Pattern are still the same way of playing? For ex: in Performance mode, is it only 4 parts yet? Or it increased to 8? And in Song mode, only 8 insert efects as Moxf?
Thanks, nothing very complicated to be honest. Each preset has its own demo/arp that you can run with the "Audition" button on the right. I recorded each and everyone of them from the 2 live sets "Best of MODX1" and Best of MODX2" banks. I thought that would be helpful to be able to hear these, as they are of great quality and really show off what the synth is capable of. There is a ton more presets, I just focused on these 2 banks (which makes it nearly 15mn already). I'm glad so many people found the video useful.
If you want piano keyboard action, I would recommend the Yamaha MODX-8 and then add the Roland VR-09 Combo Organ for drawbars. You cannot beat Yamaha for pure digital sampling of the acoustic grand.
Examples 3:56 and 4:35. The choppy sound during the transition. I don’t know if this is one of the many filter types, or a different effect, or a wild LFO, but that is to what I was referring. It doesn’t happen with every modulation, there were many smooth transitions too. Even with that, I’m blown away by the sounds in this thing. Awesome package for the price.
