    It's all hi-tech hooliganism these days. Millwall have developed a drone that wears a stone island jumper and is armed with 2 stanley knives. The operator can attack rival hooligans without leaving the comfort of his council flat 300 miles away

    That scene is so powerfull an artistic. Elvis walking out in different clothes, as the MVP of the group. The slow walk in around the corner sync with the music. The respect towards Jhonn, awaiting for the signal (coffe drop), the tall guy protecting the small one, the way the tall guy raises his arms to raise motivation for the group (similar to that guy who was responsable for carring the banner, flag or chant music in order to raise group's moral during old wars), and then looking sideways to show not to be scared of the older rival group.
    The way Elvis stands his ground with hands in the pockets looking tall the enemies.
    How they run in slowmotion like lions or spartans hungry for a fight, and how it ends by Elvis worring about his friend on the battlefield.
    This scene is perfect.

    I see a lot of comments of people not in the know. In football it's not about how big and tall you are, it's about how much of a nutter are you? Proper clothes and typically 80's young faces. Anyone who lived that era knows the score. Be it a film and somewhat one-sided, a lot of the reactions are bollocks.

    • @KryptonitetoallBS
      @KryptonitetoallBS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You're right about nutters but generally the majority of 16/17 yr old kids got battered by the bigger, older, stronger young men back then if they were brave enough to join the older lads. Quite a few clubs had junior firms where the kids got to know the score. Clubs like Liverpool ONLY had a junior firm. Top firms in the north were Boro, Everton, United and even Wrexham had a rep. Leeds, Leicester, Stoke and Blues were late to join those. Down south it was the usual suspects where despite what some say Spurs were quite handy. I started going to the football in the late 70's and grew up watching everything going on around me. You had to keep an eye out all the time. Didn't matter whether it was Rangers/ Celtic, Donny v Scunthorpe or Halifax v Huddersfield. All could be a dangerous day out if you were not vigilant. Some of the worst violence I saw was at lower league grounds where there were less old bill.

    Although this movie has had its haters i really prefer this movie to ur classic milwall, west ham tribute. with the bed accents and the bad acting movie. This was different for me, a film about a lower team, Tranmere, and how the casual scene was such a influence at the start, even in this scene you can see the 60s fashion vs the casuals fashion. Also this movie had a deeper meaning, Elvis was secretly gay for Carty and killed him self because of it. Overall not a perfect movie, but the best one for me.

    I loved this film. I rated it much better than The Firm and Green Street (which I thought was laughably bad). Guess it depends what you're looking for, I felt the story behind this film (the carty/elvis friendship) was way more intriguing than a Sergio clad Firm-esque fight scene. Also surprised by the 'it's unrealistic' comments. Remember this was set in 1979, The Pack following Tranmere in lower leagues would have regularly come up against boot boy yet to embrace the casual movement.

    • @tom-lw3gv
      @tom-lw3gv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i loved this film for its raw take, and scenes similar to submarine, with the indie music and the 80s fashion. it really shows the start of the hooligan scene in that era, and the love for it. and the carty/elvis friendship is one of those you have to watch twice to understand, elvis's struggles to come out the closet. that was the cause of his death in the end#

    this would have been the case back then. A lot of the old guard still wearing boots and carrying scarfs around to denote where they were from and it didn't matter what you looked like. Then once the scousers started invading Germany and Italy following the team through Europe it filtered back home with the fashions stolen whilst over there and you ended up with the casual culture. People always go on about Punks and Mods but this movement, especially for young people I feel is way more important.

      Happens surprisingly a lot actually. Older lads see a bunch of kids they'll run away. When they don't and ran back at em they shit themselves. Thats from my experience
