Back around 1999, John was hosting "Sessions at West 54th", and he and the Goners performed about a half-hour of incredible music. I`m still hoping someone uploads that video, I`ve never seen it anywhere....
Absolutely the most fun I have ever had at a concert was John Hiatt and the goners Bonnie Raitt. It was Back in 88 we got there late I think because we had stopped off at the bar I walked into the Orpheum with the most beautiful woman in the whole building, drunk as s***! You couldn't take your drink back to your seat so we had to stand on the stairs to watch the concert because my girlfriend was steadily drinking the bar dry oh, no s*** we drink it dry! While standing on the stairs watching John and Bonnie my date would come up behind me and pull me down the stairs and here we would go sprawling out into the lobby! The bartender's kept saying you ain't going to make it, you ain't going to make it, I kept telling them we're going to make it we're going to make it. that was after the third time she pulled me down the stairs we went sprawling into the lobby! I mean if you were there you seen her sitting in the women's bathroom door cross-legged look into her purse for a lighter because she had just bought a cigarette for a dollar off of some chick in the bathroom she was still sitting in the door when I found her damn she was good looking! To shorten a long story she passed out before we got across that Mississippi River I ran off in the ditch twice and that was the last time I ever drank and drove! the next morning my car look like a street sweeper what bundles of weeds hanging from the front and back bumpers where I had been sliding down the ditches backwards. That night I should have went to jail but instead I had the most fun at a concert ever. this is dedicated to Stephanie, the old girl is still pretty good looking!
