Great day today! I received my "Aging Beautifully" card deck. Wow, that was fast delivery to Canada! Love the gift to myself. First card that I selected (eyes closed, randomly, but with intention) "Embrace Kindness" "Kindness is magical. When you see your kindness reflected in the hearts of others, you have no age." (Just a snippet).

You have embraced all of the colors in your room...in your necklace! I love it!

I use packing cubes. They are the most convenient for me. Underneath my top I wear a money belt that carries my credit card ( I only take one) cash and passport. I never travel with valuables. They stay at home. If I want jewelry during my travels it is always costume. I am also always aware of my surroundings. Traveling is a wonderful way of life for those of us who have the time and curiosity about the world. ❤️. Sandra

Yep. I don't use packing cubes, but I'm learning to take less and less. I like to travel with a carry on and cross body bag only.

I have been using the rolling outfits together since my days as a CNA. I would go work out at the gym then change for work. I always put everything layered together and roll it up.
For my essential item to travel is a multi use dress called Hipknoties. My husband and I both packed for 4 days in Florida in one carry on and 2 personal items(purse and small backpack). My husband had more shoes than I!

Yes to packing cubes! I've been using them for years.
As to what essential item I never travel without, it's an extra pair of eyeglasses. I can barely see the biggest "E" on the eye chart without glasses and would be in a world of hurt if I broke or lost them and didn't have a backup pair.

thank you for sharing! most important to me (aside from a phone, mostly for photo taking) is a travel journal, watercolors, pens and washi tape. i make a new book for each trip and make it a priority to add a little to it each day while traveling. it’s my favorite souvenir, and a way to relive memories of wonderful adventures!

Lori, I did this for a trip to New Zealand. The book turned out to be a wonderful memory keeper and it was easy to put things in daily.

I always take ear plugs. Not the kind that block out all noise, but just good enough to help me to sleep if I have noisy neighbors. They tone down outside noise just a bit.
And yes to zip lock bags, small and large.
I loved the idea of an outfit rolled up, including the undergarments.

Definite yes to the portable chargers for my phone! Other essentials for me are my soft cushiony eye mask combined with my very comfortable noise cancelling headphones, especially for longer flights - allows me to become absorbed in my own peaceful music or podcast and block out the annoying noises on the airplane.

Love those bright clear colors on you!
Not traveling much these days, but good ideas. You're right about planning your outfits and eliminating as many things as possible. With personal care items, one must have very small containers for carry-on. And your Ziplock bags are good for hokding larger bottles in checked luggage.

I tried the cubes for the first time in September for a trip to Munich for Oktoberfest, followed by a Danube cruise, time in Budapest then on to London. They worked great for me. I roll everything and keep tops (short and long sleeve) in one cube, undies/bras/socks, in another, etc. Made it so easy for travel. I also pick a color scheme. This trip was black, grey and a few autumn colors. After that we went to New Orleans and I kept it to black with some leopard patterns (scarf, jacket, skirt) for our Thanksgiving. California last weekend all black and grey. I have pulled outfits for a trip to Napa in a few weeks, red, silver, black and some festive scarves. We head back to New Orleans after that and I will probably go back to black, grey, animal print. I have a packing list for each trip and make notes while traveling on what didn't work, what I needed and add that to the document when I get home. I am using cubes from here on out.
Small zippered shoe bags work great for me too. Sneakers, heels, booties etc go in those bags and I can tip them on their sides and line the side of my suitcases with them.

I’m getting better at packing lighter we just yesterday returned from Fl. And Savanah. We just had our carry on bags. And I had packed just really enough I was happy with that. It’s a work in progress so far though. It’s hard. I Hate to pay for checked luggage it can add up. I take my Crosstitch with me everywhere a small. Project. If I’m stuck somewhere I can do some or evening in hotels. I will bring home thenbar soaps and shampoos and I use them in my guest baths at home for quests.i put them in a small basket.

I cannot seem to travel light. Mostly, these days I am crossing the Atlantic visiting family, and I do intend to pack light, but there are things I have to bring there and back. And travelling during the winter months, with Xmas gifts and warm sweaters... light.. doesn't seem to be in my vocabulary...lol... I just finished packing and am off for the holidays, even my purse is heavy !!!!!!! Lol

Never take anything you will regret losing. If it matters and you can’t bear losing it keep it on your person. This includes passport. Don’t put it in your coat pocket or purse. Same with credit cards and at least some money. I wear a thin many pocketed vest that fits under my jacket or shirt that holds things but leaves my hands and arms free.

Put one credit card in your purse, another in your carry on. This helped me when I was pick pocketed in the Milan train station.
Photo those c/c’s, along w/the customer care tel. #, in case you need to cancel a card.
Write down what quality you want to carry with you spiritually and one you wish to leave behind, on this particular trip.

I never take pieces of jewelry that may identify me as a good person to steal from OR mug. Also, as someone has already mentioned, don’t take anything that would crush you to loose.

Listening to Margaret today made me think of how our packing has changed over our lifetime. What's important to us now, we would never have considered as a necessity before. What would you not leave home without?

When I get a new pair of glasses I save the old pair and bring on trips for emergencies . I always take a few small and large zip lock bags. Plan outfits so you only need a pair of walking shoes/sneakers and one pair of comfortable "nice" shoes..

All great advice - especially the glasses! I always take 2 or 3 :-)
