Mythbusting Nutrition: Fat, Fiber, Calories and Cholesterol

- I talk with Dr. Zoe Harcombe PhD about nutrition myths that I learned and believed throughout my life such as the #foodpyramid is the best way to eat, #fat makes you fat, #cholesterol is bad for you, don't eat #saturatedfat and #fiber is necessary and helpful. She dispells each of those myths one by one.
Zoe does such a great job of breaking these things down and making them easy for everyone to understand.

That last ten minutes of Zoe's talk can be a real shock to any vegan if they're listening. And I hope they are. Thank you ladies. Greetings from Australia.
I appreciate you watching to the end! I hope Zoe's message gets a broad audience!
Zoe is awesome. Thanks.
Agreed! Thanks for watching.
Fantastic nutritional mythbusting by Zoe Harcombe! Also great flow and good topics by Christie!
Thanks I appreciate that! I was honored to speak with Dr. Harcombe.
Yay for the replay crew! 🎉
I absolutely the replay crew!
Hope Dr Harcombe will be invited by the Philippines to help in development of our nutrition guidelines
I hope so too, she is a wealth of true information!
Would you believe a dentist tried to give an injection of antibiotic after a tooth pull once. Even his nurse's head spun when I said "NO!" I don't want it.
Wow! I know I took way too many antibiotics when I was younger and didn't know any better. I used to get chronic UTIs.
I first saw Zoe on Dr. Chaffee’s channel. My favorite interview so far!
She is an amazing resource of knowledge for sure.
Great interview. Thank you both!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Hope there will be RCT on low carbohydrates or zero carb and effect on learning, memory and cognitive function to Grade level students
As a teacher, I totally agree! Or even for those who make those decisions to listen to how the "research" has been manipulated in the past to give us the food guidelines we currently have. I have seen the decline in my classroom for sure in the 24 years I've been teaching.
Great information.
Thank you!
You should tell your Dr about your TH-cam channel.. she’ll see just how healthy you’re getting (sprinting, planks, weight loss) and then maybe this video- she’d learn so much.
True story David!
You did great with this interview!
Thanks Charlie! I was nervous, but Zoe was great.
@@MeatingWellness You did great too, Cristie.
@@DarthCarnivore Thanks, I thought the idea of going through my life and how each myth affected me might be a good way to approach it.
@@MeatingWellness I thought that approach worked well. She's a walking encyclopedia of knowledge while being a good explainer of things. I'm so glad you got the opportunity to interview her on your channel!
@@DarthCarnivore My first expert!
You got another heavy hitter on the show. This is a great show :)
I enjoyed this one David! Thanks for watching.
Compared to apple juice drink the fructose in an apple is released slower due to the fiber.
Thanks for watching!
You wouldn't have said that if you had watched and understood the video.
Please, balance the sounds!
Sorry, I don't have that capability.
yeh maybe next gest just turn your mic down
@@johnnyg2501 Thanks, it was a live, so you can't really tell until it's over and you play it back...I'm bummed because otherwise, it was a great talk.
I posted a comment and it’s not showing
Hmm, that's weird. I see this comment. That's happened to me before when I've commented on other's videos too.
@@MeatingWellness let’s try again…watch Fat a Documentary
@@MeatingWellness it’s on You Tube

I hear either very positive or only very negative opinions on fiber and on carbs, which is not helpful at all. I am not sure what to believe. I have been experiencing a lot of gut problems since on keto and carnivore which bring me to rethink and research the whole thing over and over. What is it about anaerobes, which are part of gut bacteria, like, Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes? And changing the bacteria in our gut through avoiding concrete food, don't we make our gut weak and open to aggressive bacteria attacks?
I also was born 1975, like you, just in another country. 😊 I absolutely share those memories, too, and trying my best to change my nutrition. ketovore was supposed to help, I have been doing it since 1 year, but it doesn't work for me. Moreover, it gets worse- can't digest as much Protein and fat as needed. Had to stay on 800-1000 calories a day, which is a half of what I need, and of course I had cravings. Now adding carbs back.
I am not an expert, but I can only tell you that my experience has been the opposite. My body loves eating mainly meat. I am sorry you are having a poor experience with gut problems. How long did you try it out? Was it enough time to let your gut switch over? I know there is a time it takes our body to adapt. It does surprise me that you'd have problems on keto, but maybe you didn't incorporate a lot of veggies? When I was keto, I ate brocolli, cauliflower, asparagus, or zucchini with every meal plus avocado, tomatos and peppers. Just my thoughts. Every one is different, I hope you find a diet that works best for you.
@@orchidmuse I think as long as you stick to whole foods, and away from processed foods and seed oils and you feel good, that is a great change and will lead to better health! Nice to meet a fellow 1975 baby!
Could be having too much fat
@@steveherridge8965 Too much fat makes me run for the toilet for sure.
It's a frightful shame the volume is so different between you. I can barely hear Zoe.
Yes I'm so sorry. I didn't realize that when we were filming.
@@MeatingWellness Yes, I know. It's fine.

Sh--------------------------------e needs a better microphone. I can't hear her again...
Sorry about that.
