    Mate check crank pulley too. Mine damaged itself and was eating into engine casing, mechanic said it had eaten 2mm or so into the metal after only being a fault for 90 miles - could've resulted in a huge bill if I left it much longer!

    Just had this on my mates fn2. It was the air con compressor, so I just put a shorter belt on as his air con was shot anyway

    Run the engine and get a long screwdriver. Hold it against each pulley bolt. It will act like a stethoscope. You will hear a big difference with the bad one. Obviously be careful when putting a screwdriver near moving belts!

    I'm going through the same issue with a low whirr from one of my pulleys. I've changed belt, tensioner and idler and now think it's the crank pulley. It goes away completely once the car has warmed up, but it's still bothering me. No idea if our 2 issues are connected, but hopefully we'll both cure the dreaded sounds soon LOL

      Crank pulleys are at failure age on these now. They’re two part and the bonded rubber between them gives up, outer part will look to have a wobble

      Hey mate, I had the same issue replaced the top two pulleys but the sound was still there, thought it might have been the crank pulley but turned out to be the aircon pump pulley, the aircon doesn’t work in mine anyway to so I bought a shorter non ac belt to bypass the pulley. Hope this might help 🙂

    Maybe spray wd40 in areas until the squeeling stops ? .....then location found. Maybe it's the tensioner itself?

    Hi I'm having trouble with going into gear twice and it has popped out of 3rd a few times also when hitting vtec it takes time to go into gear just wondering if you have any idea if it would be clutch or gearbox any advice would be great as don't want to do 1 job then it be the other

    • @FNLEW
      @FNLEW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Changing the gearbox oil always helps a bit. Mine also needed a clutch. The biting point is very low on these but if it's nearly on the ground it may need a new clutch. Other than that the most common fault is issues with the gear synchros. Which unfortunately means the gearbox needs taking apart and new synchros being fitted but as you can imagine, that's costly. Gearbox oil and possibly a clutch is the cheaper pleases to start though.
