  • Hey guys just wanted to make this video to help anyone with an 8th gen civic Si 2006-2011. Apparently after a certain mileage a scratchy noise can be heard around the idler pulley area it sounds distinctly like sand paper in a bearing. I replaced the pcv valve as shown in the video and the noise went away! I will make another video shortly to make sure the noise has stayed away and does not come back. Thanks guys! Please like and comment!

    This is 100% the noise I've been trying to diagnose on my 200k mile si since I got it about a month ago. Thank you for the video! This is really helpful!

    Same type of noise hard to describe… it happens on startup and when I disengage the engine to shift and then now after the shift upon acceleration. The noise goes away after the car is warm/ running for a bit. Thank you for the post I’ll try this!

    Mine sounds like beebees in a can shaking , not loud at all but if you rev the car in neutral you can hear it from 1000-2000 rpms , above that it goes away, when it idles back down you can hear it again before it reaches idle. I dont hear it while driving

      Hi Tavis, I get the same thing on my 2009 fd1 civic with r18a engine. Have you found the noise source/issue?

    • @Sevekor1
      @Sevekor1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a noise similar. But only when my foot is off the clutch and In neutral. I know it's not the throw out bearing because I had it checked. 😭

    Could you hear this noise louder inside the car? i have a similar scratchy noise than can be heard louder from sort of behind the dash cluster/steering wheel

    Hi, I do have the same issue in my HONDA Civic FD1 recently. My self still looking where this sound is coming from? The same rattle sound in my car comes when the car is in Gear mode. How did you judge, the sound is coming from PCV Valve? Do you have video during the issue?

    I also have this noise and I also thought it was the pulley! Will replace the valve. Cheap fix. Also: I noticed my alternator hisses when under load (headlights on etc). Anyone know how to deal with that? Or is that normal?

      It's exactly what he said. But does your alternator hiss too? Try turning headlights on with hood open. My alt hisses when the lights go on.

      Si Garage I just tested it today by clamping the pvc hose, and the noise went away. I'm going to get a Honda pvc instead of a aftermarket and give that a go
