I was surprised to see that the real time sequences are not editable or viewable as well . Very modern sounding synth, it can fit to any modern genre. It sounds clear, precise, almost vst alike, but it has more depth which is to be expected from hardware synth. I find it can work amazing with music where you need 70/80s tones but in edgy and cutting way. It can get smooth as well, but i dont hear its has that analog muddines and low end fulness, which is actually great thing as well. It can have its place in crowded mix, and somehow i think it can do i wonders in modern prog metal music when synths are needed.

I'd love to see Modal go all-out with a 61 key version and make it 16 voice poly. It could also potentially be two-part multitimbral. Maybe that would position it to compete with higher poly real analogue synths like the Korg Prologue 16 and Behringer DeepMind 12 (or maybe not - I'm not an industry expert by any means). As far as I can tell it would then outdo them in very way apart from being real analogue and it sounds better than either of them in my opinion.

? a red one next : Argon, Colbalt ,Gallium,Helium ......
cobalt is blue :-p
Helium will be too light and escape the earths gravity......i'd say Beryllium
2:03 you got me!
reminds me of my yamaha FBO1 running thru a spx90... but this has a filter as a plus but not multitambril like the fb01 was.
really?
@@jonfromtheuk467 it sounds more like a FM based dx/fbo1/tx than any analogue i know.
@@cresshead a very basic 4 operator FM from the 90's sounds like a VA from 2020? - I guess we have different opinion on how they sound but each to their own.
@@jonfromtheuk467 well the modal does have a filter.. that's a nice plus and a knob encrusted u.i plus fx.... nice upgrade.. it does still sound quite FM digital and thats not a bad thing.
And just like that.... everyone stop talking about the polybrute.
You had me, right up until I read "Ladder Filter" on your mail-out. Why on Earth would you choose such a compromised filter design?
Thanks for your comment. We choose this filter design because we believe it compliments the mighty oscillator engine perfectly. When you hear through the sound examples and have the opportunity to play it yourself, you will hear the very distinguished character of our morphable 4-Pole Ladder Filter and hopefully agree with our choice.
@@ModalElectronics Yeah, I am happy to reserve judgement and, to be honest, I wouldn't be using this thing for basslines so it may not be an issue anyway. I do like what I've heard so far, both here and on the overview video.
oh? great!?
This thing sounds amazing. Any chance of a VSTi for us third world peasants?
We love hardware synths and are not planning to release COBALT8 as a VSTi at the moment.
Spoiling all synth-loving fooks why don't you.
Hold on "phase breaker " is that a patch or fx.
Where is the CV and VCO inputs
and outputs on this new shit ???
Sounds really nice, but U-He Repro sounds more "real".
Maybe U-He Hive would be a better comparison. Also a very versatile synth that can do both digital and analogue types of sound.
@@mvv1408 To me Repro sounds more analog or more "real", but I definitely agree, Hive is way more versatile than Repro, especially now with those extra modulator parts that came with Hive 2.
Sounds decent but not very analog
The chassis is identical to Argon 8? Personally I think a more environmental route is to do what Roland did with Plug outs.
I have an Argon and I love it, but...really? I have to buy another identical box for different software?
I'm assuming you're all environmentalists at Modal?
How about saving the earths resources a little? Put your money where your mouth is...
all digital synth manufacturers can do this, but they won't, and good luck
My KYRA will destroy this blue toy !
and costs several times more? why are you here?
