Sims 2 easily. We actually had the FULL Maxis team making that game! Starting with Sims 3, EA laid off many Maxis people and made working conditions so horrible that they wanted to quit. Will Wright was gone by then...So Maxis literally lost their will...Add to EA's complete blunder with SimCity 2013 the game Maxis knew would fail but EA forced them to make it anyway. By the time Sims 4 was coming out, almost no OG Maxis team was there... and EA gave them no time to make the proper game either. They could've postponed Sims 4 release for another 4 years but refused. Then in 2015 Maxis was officially murdered by EA. Now we have this "new Maxis team" that has no idea what Maxis standard of gaming is from Sims 2 and before. So Sims 4 is crap and always will be because no OG Maxis people. Sims 2 is the best and will always be the best because we had the full Maxis team making it! In order to get a proper attraction system in The Sims 4, you need wicked/wonderful whims mod!

The gender preferences in the Sims 4 are very shallow imo. Like, I can make a lesbian sim but if she has a high enough friendship with a man and he flirts with her, she'll accept it. It always makes me so annoyed when that happens 😕
That's not even a remotely important feature. None of the previous games had this garbage waste of development time and all of them are far better than The Sims 4.
To be fair in Sims 2, the spouse not recognizing the other seeing another attractive sim can be realistic. We usually don't react that way when we see someone we find attractive, but since Sims need to be more visual expressive since they don't talk our language they made it this way.

I always took the animation as being a visual representation of what the sim is thinking.

In the sims 3, when you ask for a zodiac sign, sometimes you can get a notification: "your zodiac signs are compatible", and the sims have a happy reaction like during finding out about the same traits.
“Which one is the best?” I wish my college exams were this easy.
I still play Sims 2 and the game play is so much more engaging, complex and super immersive! Especially due to mechanics like this but also small animations that are little to non-existent in later games.

The game only had to process whichever current lot was being played so it had time for stuff like that. The constant loading screens to go anywhere was a PAIN, though.

@@adrianblake8876Both do if I remember correctly. Sign compatibility is one step, then further tuned by personality - close number of points of a trait adds to attraction. Cyjon went in depth explaining how attraction works in sims 2 on his(?) site.

@@adrianblake8876 Both Zodiac and personality separately. The impact of turn-ons/turn-offs is quite insignificant compared to that.
I’ve never posted this, but given the topic of the video I’d love to share this tidbit about Sim lovers in Sims 2:
Any time a sim is in another room doing something (ie: relaxing on the bed, using the computer) their lover will tend to follow them into the same room, most likely to be with them. ❤
Yes! I have also notice that. Same for siblings or children who really get along...
3 bolt sims are the worst for this. I have had couples that will do nothing but flirt, kiss and hug with their spouse if left to their own devices. They follow their spouse all over and if they can't interact with the spouse they'll find something to look at nearby.
@@leslie2149yes bahaha three bolt couples are notorious for this, one of them will be pooping on the toilet and the other will come in the to the bathroom to wash their hands or shower with nearly full hygiene. it's so cute but it definitely makes them even worse at managing their time/needs 😂 but hey i guess true love can do that!
i don’t know if it’s a bug but in ts4 when the my sim is doing something in her room, her husband and daughter choose to go over and eat on the bed instead of the table where they normally eat

I remember doing a legacy play in ts2 and I was having trouble pairing my sim daughter up with - well, anyone really- due to poor chemistry/interests.
Happy ending though cuz she eventually ended up falling for the maid. I like to see it as “the one who was taking care of you all along.”

The idle animation and facial expressions in TS2 were amazing! You could almost tell everything a Sim was thinking if you just let them stand around long enough.

Damn. Your videos always trigger this deep nostalgia for the sims 2 glory days. I played Sims 1 at my childhood BFF's house, she introduced me, and I remember our excitement for The Sims 2. I had to beg my very religious parents to let me get TS2 base game because of the "mature content" label, and somehow I managed. 😂
I'm nearing my 30's now, and TS5 is on the horizon but I think this will be the first time in nearly 20 years that I won't be buying the new game. TS4 has been such a disappointment, and your videos have highlighted a lot of those problems that I've tried to ignore. Someone else put it best: "The difference is that TS4 is a Dollhouse Sim, not a Life Sim." That flipped my perspective. I understand now I kept chasing the memories that 1, 2 and 3 provided me, but they're not there with 4. 10 years later, so many expansions bought, yet it still feels so hollow and repetitive. Maybe it's the whole sunken cost fallacy, but I kept thinking, "surely this next expansion/update will be what the game needs to feel right" and here I am, having spent way too much money for a game that feels like a chore to "play."
At the end of the day, I am looking forward to Paralives, Life By You and Inzoi being released. They aren't "The Sims," but I don't expect them to be. This is only the beginning in my eyes. I'm hopeful for the future of Life Sims. 😊
I honestly don't have any expectations for TS5 aswell! But I know, I'll still be disappointed somehow 🙃
ts5 wont be like the sims 5, its going to be a sims game but not the sequel of ts4, so i guess project rene (ts5) will be another thing while the last game of "the sims" is the 4th one. im a newgen simmer (since like 8 years ago) and i only played ts4 but i guess they will both focus in project rene and ts4. i wish i played the sims 2 and 3 (i tried the first one) bc i know the gameplay is so good, while they focus in ts4 and project rene i wish they "fix" the sims 4, i love it but it has so many problems, also i liked that you didnt hate it too much, because people say ts4 sucks? its the best on build mode and cas, definitely not in gameplay but i wish they manage to make it like ts2
The sims 2 destroyed it. I like The Sims 3's relationship system! If you have opposite traits from the other person, it is difficult to develop a relationship.

I think it would be neat idea for opposing traits to be 'matching' instead: when one sim hates cooking, he likes another who loves it; or, at least 'similar' traits, like the sim who loves robots + sim who is good with mechanics
@@hadsyjiama9010That doesn't make sense though. If one hates talking about cooking, and the other speaks about it all day long. They obviously won't get along.
@@dundee6402 i think what they were saying that we could make a "oposites" getting attracted to each other, like a grumpy guy that hates slacking off and don't really have hobbies but he starts liking a playful and more laid back girl.

I've only got sims 3 world adventures, but I've noticed that thing when sometimes a sim would have wants about romantic interactions and/or about meeting with a certain sim much more than with other sims, and it happens regardless of zodiac signs or traits. Maybe my game is just broken. But it's kinda cute, like true love or something.
Another fabulous video! I love that you make these. That way it shows the new Maxis Team what they should be including in The Sims 4 and beyond...since they very clearly have no idea what Maxis standard of quality and detail is. I hope all the SimGurus are watching these!

My cousin just introduced me the sims 1 just like the other user named pong but that was his best friend forever, and I liked soo much, sims 2 my moma just kept into my bedroom to see the woohoo cutsceens lol xd, ah good times. I wish that the time does not fly soo much. Sims 2 is the best is my zone, the sims 1 is just a game that I keep on my memories but I still like to see the others playing sims 1 and 2.
The Sims 2 is definitely the best about gameplay, and the best so far for me. Maybe bc it's a long and old love story...
I love that there is a channel devoted to showing precisely the ways that Sims2 is the superior game in the franchise. I played Sims4 and it was…fine…but that was before I remembered exactly how much more depth Sims2 had.

In childhood "fat" in Sims 2 looked like really FAT to me, and now I can't even see that this sim is fat, she just has a typical female belly, maybe some bloating idk, doesn't look medically obese or something like that, more like a body type

I used to play sims 2 and o remember being able to Pick turn ons/offs and there also being the chemstry symbol on the sims icon but i never owned the expansion pack

Does attraction in TS3 always appear mutual? Because in TS2 it doesn't seem to be, one sim can be attracted, and the other isn't - I think that made it more realistic. Albeit sad.

That hasn't been my experience in Sims 3. I've had some Sims have little or no attraction to one another. And with NRAAS I think you can alter their gender preferences, so that's another additional factor in chemistry. If they're not what they're into - say they're gay or a lesbian and your active Sim doesn't align with their preference - you'll probably get a zero attraction score.
I have a feeling that OP's is finding redheads/ginger sims attractive - good guess? :D
I would also add the thing with matchmaker in TS2 that I was using almoast every time I wanted to find the best match - when she was inviting a date for our sim. It could be very good match, if we paid a lot, not so lucky if we were scrudges.

Couple of things, firstly, there are genies in the Sims 2 and 3 and none in Sims 4 and Sims 4 is supposed to be better???!!!!
Second, it took players to create a mod for the attraction system in Sims 4 called WickedWhims
the sims 2 did it best in the sims 3 every one is Attracted to every one in the sims 4 if you have wonderful whims or wicked whims mod those mods come with a Attraction system .
Attracted to every one ? In The Sims 3, if you have a trait that is opposite to another, it is difficult to develop a relationship.

Nah, I've had plenty of sims who weren't attracted to each other in TS3. Like I've had sims say the other is a "0/10" lol. Sims 4 is def the one where everyone's attracted to everyone tho.

If they would’ve added the sims 2 and 3 gameplay into the sims 4 the game wouldn’t lack soo much. I never couldn’t get into the sims 2 though and mainly played the sims 3 but from watching others play the sims 2 the gameplay is really good. Sims 4 just need to mini improvements.

And now to answer your question, because it has a sense of freedom, you can do wathever you wish, it has a soul, it doesn't have scripted scenes like sims 2, but it does have more free will, it feels alive. You can make them easly live as long as you wish, even set season how long you want, and with traveler for example you can travel and move and keep all relationships, and have cousins in different towns. The options are limitless. I am not saying Sims 2 is bad i never sad that, but sims 2 fans are really egoisticly annoying. Sorry for my selling, enshlish is not my main language.
@@satines6045 I've said this before... If you look at it more closely, you'll see that The Sims 3 is more of an exploration game than a life simulation one, The Sims 2 on the other hand is more of a life simulation game than an exploration one.

the sims 2 was a product of passion, the sims 4 is a product of greed and restrictions bc of woke - woke decapitate fantasy and people loose passion from it. The developers were also asked to make the game more child friendly, (when the majority of their users are not childeren) that also takes away the fun of developing. A product made out of passion will always surpass the product made out of greed and ignorant leaders.

You need to do more research.
I love a good simplification, but to be able to properly simplify something you must actually understand that which you are simplifying. I dont think you understand attraction and chemistry in TS2, what the difference between the two are and how they relate to eachother. I think that because i actually do understand it *to a certain degree*
I also find that your videos sometimes miss aspects of the things you are covering.
I like the style and ideas of these types of videos, but some extra time dubble checking your facts would greatly improve them.
As it is rn i dont wanna share your videos because i know they are riddled with errors, but i wish i could cause i wanna prove to my friends that just because a game is newer does not mean it is a better designed game, without having to bore them with all the technical stuff. I wish this was a good dumbification of the systems, but instead its a surface level explaination of them.
I completely agree. I love deep dives into videos about the chemistry system in games like the sims 2, and some great videos do exist on them. I think this creator could do some more research and credit some of the creators that have already made elaborate videos on this topic. That way people can refer to other videos that go more in depth, but with this creator still spreading accurate information about the games.
Can you elaborate more on what I did not understand about chemistry & attraction? And obviously I can't always be super super detailed in my videos, especially considering that there's no voice over and the amount of time they already take to edit & record footage. But my channel isn't for everybody I understand. Maybe you could do a channel yourself and take on what you think I'm missing.

@@Sitycims I've seen deep dives with full explanation of this topic in TS2 and I like this type of video more when it comes to comparisons since it's more simple and IMO it doesn't need to include THAT much information to show each game's main characteristics 🤷🏻♀️
@@pekeniax Exactly, plus there's already deep dives that go really deep into the numbers, coding & detailed infos on it, why redoing it if it's already there...Especially considering this commentator seems to already be aware of them, why not sharing these "non dumbified" videos to his friend instead if mine are not good enough? I get constructive criticism but their comment seems really bratty & unnecessary, some people are just never satisfied, anyway 💀
