Training will always be reflected by how you good you “play”…
I am former “Vollie” in VA and we drilled, drilled, and drilled every weekend. I have the utmost respect for my fellow brother and sisters who dedicated themselves to their communities for FREE, but it’s a whole lot more than running around on a fire truck and getting a cool helmet to wear…
With that being said, this is fine example of where drilling is important and I can only hope this video can be used for learning points, and preventing potential injuries or death to someone unfamiliar with fire ground tactics!

This you would consider the best fire department compared to these guys. I just had to share this. You are going to fall of your chair when you see this. They just gave up. Like no joke, if you listen to the audio you hear what I think is the chief say "might as well just let it go at this point". And they do. They shut all hoses down and stand there. Eventually they started up again I assume giving probies practice. Seriously I can't even explain how bad. Watch it.

It might be a fulty pass or dieing batteries. The reason our department goes over packs atleast once a month. Our old dregar packs eat batteries while not ever being touched and when they do get used one of the packs pass alarms goes off 5 minutes after the pack is turned on. (It's part of the next batch to get replaced) we have a rule that if your pass goes off you buy a round for who ever is on sceen. (After everything is put back in service of course)

Sooooo many questions on this one. 🤷‍♂️ Sitting in the garage dumping water through the man door to the house, making no progress on the fire........change tactic...move closer ( garage looks structurally sound). Someone should have been on the deck stairs and putting water on the main floor if the floor was compromised where entry wasn't safe. Make entry in the basement if the ceiling ( floor joists) looked safe, was free burning with no smoke to be able to see structural integrity. Not armchair firefighting, just 25 years experience asking questions and suggesting how I would have approached it. Glad all you guys got home safe after the job. 👍

@@firefighterpk2440 when you have fully involved structure fire you usually just let it burn down because of the total loss.... you simply dont care of the house contents, if its damaged by fire or smoke you dont want it.... this structure will need to be demolished and a new one built in its place anyway. Had a neighbors home burn down in the middle of the night this spring, the family got out just in time but the house was a total loss, the firefighters didnt bother wasting water on it and just controlled it so it didnt spread to nearby bushes and trees. They simply let the fire die out on its own.

So just out of curiosity why did both firefighters catch the hydrant? That’s a one man job. The second firefighter usually stays on the truck to do things like oh say… pull an attack line. Maybe even fight a little fire. That was one hell of a long lay to have both your firefighters sprinting down the road.

Yea it made no sense for me neither, if anything they could have anchored it to the car on the drive way around wheels and moved slow. All while the firefighters would be on the engine.

Then both FF's walk down the long ass driveway, not running or hustling up, like on a picnic. 2 engines o/s w/8-10 ppl standing around watching the fire, no attk lines pulled for the 1st 2:45 of this vid & the vid was edited & speed up, so it was more like 4mins w/o a line pulled. Then I stopped watching out of frustration......they give FF's a bad name.

Or a 30 deg fog pattern standing at the door ( let the 16000 to 1ratio steam do its work).

What do you mean? Are you saying volunteers are no good at fighting fires? If that's what you're saying you my friend have no clue..

*MAYBE I'M CONFUSED......* why have both of the FF's jump off to deploy a supply line & stay at the street, then walk a mile to a fire?? Secure the hose & both get back on or just leave 1 FF, the driver & officer aren't going to grab the attk line while FF'S are walking down driveway....need better communication or training.
