    I’m a planted tank guy but still enjoy your content, with the plants you currently have I would maybe work the intensity at between 50-75% or else you are going to run into algae issues. Unless you plan to plant it out a bit heavier even then I would work my way up as the plants grow in.

    I would take out those Buenos Aires Tetras and replace them with Cardinals or Rummy Noses. They would swim in the same space and leave the plants alone. And I would add a lot more rooted plants like Crypts and Vallisneria. With those lights you are going to get algae unless there are more plants outcompeting it.

  • @droeksonfishkeeping
    @droeksonfishkeeping ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love your product reviews. The light looks very clean the way it sits on the tank but what is the light spread like, seeing that it sits so close to the surface? Does it spotlight? I have found that lights need to sit a little higher above the tanks on those brackets to ensure a better light spread front to back in tanks that are more than 12 inches front to back. We don't have Aquarium Coop products in South Africa but I like what they are doing. It has the feel of products designed by a hobbyist. I find all the product lines to sometimes have some great features but always a flaw or two that wasn't well thought out.

    I'm sure the Coop's light is going to hold up really well, and I know if you have a problem, the Coop will fix it and make it right. I buy from them as often as I can. Hands down, all companies should be modeling themselves after Aquarium Coop!
    That being said, I started this hobby with Beamworks DA-FSPEC. They are running on their 6th year. You definitely want to purchase the inline timer dimmer for this light, otherwise it's absurdly bright. Once toned down, it gives off really nice colors to your tank inhabitants and will grow low to mid light plants beautifully. I'm sure you could use this light on high tech tanks as well, but cranked up, it washes your tank out a lot. Great set it and forget it light, but do need that dimmer.
    I have 3 Hygger 24/7 lights that have been running for a bit over a year. I would say Hygger has the best light on the market for it's price point, if they would fix the timer having to be reset everytime the power glitches. Something as simple as a battery added to hold the time would be lovely. Anything!
    I love the color my Hygger lights bring to my tanks. I love them so much, I'm still on the fence on sticking with the Beamworks brand or phasing my geriatric lights out with Hygger regardless of the timer annoyance. Hopefully, they will finally fix this kind of crucial issue before my old Beamworks give up the ghost.
    All in all, I'm not loving the color rendition I'm seeing from the Coop's light, but that is personal aesthetics. I think it's because I started with cooler light so it's what I'm used to. Love the Coop, but sadly not being tempted on this one.
    Anyone just starting, or already used to a bit warmer tone (if any of that matters) should definitely consider giving it a try....if you Need a light and the price point is within your budget. Aquarium Coop has never let me down. ☺️☺️☺️

    Never had a Beamswork last more than a couple years.
    I've got the identical 48" Co-oP and also a 48" Finnex ALC on two separate 75 gallon tanks and can say the Finnex is the more powerful of the two, both visually comparing their brightness and with my par meter. Plus, the Finnex is programmable ta boot. You can also adjust all the colors individually with the finnex also.
    Not saying the Coop light is bad, I like it, but the Finnex is the light to go with for a planted tank over the Coop, especially if you have high demand plants and are running Co2 injection. The Finnex is roughly the same price as the Coop also.
    The Coop light does beat out the Finnex though with its mounting brackets and the Coops customer support is 1st class.

    • @TazawaTanks
      @TazawaTanks ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The most comparable light would be the Fluval 3.0. The Fluval is $229 for the 48" length (59 watt), while our 48" 50 watt light is $149. The Finnex and Hygger lights are more budget-focused, so not as easy of a comparison.

    I like this sort of video. The fish in the background are sweet. Nice pairing with the Corys, Tetras, and Rasboras. Tank size, light hardscape and plant density gives plenty of room for the fish. I know, the emphasis was on the light. Cory from Co-op brings some nice things. Small comment on the intensity comparison, if the lights aren't the same age, let's say one is 6 months to a year old it won't be as intense as it was new. Not sure if that played a role or not. Beamsworks is one of those lights that is far from perfect, but at times the cost point is just right. I'll definitely be checking out Co-op's lights next time I'm in the market.

      Blue is bad because it stimulates the autonomic nervous system (tells the brain it's day time). The worst part is moon light isn't even blue, it's actually about 4000K. But WE mentally perceive blue to be night time due to blue color shading in movies being used to signify a scene is set at night.

    too expensive for what you get. I put a video on my channel on how LED dome lights are far superior to LED strip lights in 6 different aspects. All the LED lights come from China, after 9 years of LED strip lights I have a "bone yard" of lights that have either burned out or became obsolete when I went from fish only to planted tanks. Likely a good beginner light from Aquarium Co-op but at twice the cost of Beamswork.
