My Shimano Sienna 2500 FE has been through sever fish over 6 pounds. Smooth, awesome drag, plenty of drag as well. Awesome reel. Works just as good as the day I had purchased it.
I own a Shimano Sienna and I have to say it is very well worth the money. I've accidentally dunked it in saltwater and it was still fine, all I did was take it apart, re-grease the main gear, and it was good as new. Very smooth and well built. I put 20lb braided line on it and it is my main reel I use when I go for surf perch.
They are extremely good little reels. I have both the older models and the new model and they are bomb proof. They won't be the smoothest but they will perform as they should for a very very long time.
@@smile1234happy well I just got the new version last spring. Time will tell but I caught some very nice lake trout with the newer model last year and it performed great. But the older model has been a fantastic reel and still is. If you can find an older model, I might give that model the nod. It just keeps going.
I own two of the older Siennas(4 bearing). The 2500 failed on my eighth outing. The 4000 has worked fine for close to two years(don't use it much). I just got two brand new Okuma Safina Pro SPa- 25 both of which were bad from the factory in the sealed box. Buying reels these days is a crapshoot. I might try Daiwa since I still use my d1000 that I bought 35 years ago and it still works fine.
Stephen Stalter lol your luck is horrible. I have never bought a bad reel. In fact I have an old quantum optix that I bought for 20 bucks at walmart 7 years ago. Plan was to use it once on a saltwater trip and toss it. To this day its seen over 50 saltwater trips and still reels in fish. Its now a sloppy reel so I use it for sabikis
I have both and love them I use a 3000 crossfire for steelhead and smaller salmon like coho and a 2500 sienna for the same purpose both on 9'6" rods with braid and they are absolute workhorses.
I've had all kinds of Shimano reels and was a Shimano man until I recently purchased a Daiwa RG AB. I must say that it beats the Shimano's and just about every category I now have five of them that I use for crappie fishing. For the money they're the smoothest spinning reel with the least amount of line twist that I have encountered.
I’ve owned several siennas in FD though, best reel I’ve ever owned for the price. I have two sienna 4000FD and I use them for saltwater surf fishing. I’ve had them for 4 years and they’ve battles being submerged many times, covered in sand etc and they still work, like new! My sienna 1000FD was quick to croak though, and that one only saw freshwater. The reel is approved for saltwater as well. Is the normal one approved for saltwater as well?
Reel rule #1 for me: the front drag adjuster have very smooth edges and low profile like the Daiwa. Casting into headwinds the line will catch the drag adjuster with more squared off edges like the Shimano.
Alluha Torrrez Same here. Always liked and owned Daiwa but went to Shimano 8-10 times. I always stop to look at Daiwa regardless. Lately though, instead of thinking "maybe next time" about the Daiwa I'm thinking that about Shimano and walking away with the Daiwa! LOL Really loving their stuff again. Speaking from the experience of owning a lot of cheap spinning reels and going up to very expensive ones over time, I can honetly save ppl a lot of hassle by telling you to just save and buy a Shimano reel like the Nasci or better. The new Sahara is OK, but no core protect which is something really worth having if you want your reel to last a loong time. I have owned a few Sienna's and they do break down from heavy use. They are easy to opem, clean, regrease and even upgrade some parts, but for an extra $100, you can have a reel that you could likely dunk in water several times and still have it run smooth as butter. If you are a Diawa guy, same thing applies. Soend a bit more and you won't regret it years later.
Anime4 Mii nothing wrong with pfleuger. I prefer shimano but the pfleuger presidente and up are all nice reels for the money. I am not sure if they have any seals inside though so keep it as dry as possible.

@@IAMGWH1 It's the old 3+1 bearing model. They are really good. But I honestly think the new models will last as long or longer simply because they don't have as many bearings. The new models are still super smooth but they cheaped out on the drag a little.
@@suckdonkeypunch Thanks I did buy the 2500fe and fished ok & smooth so I might change out the bushings with sealed bearings if I can get a great buy on them I guess and see what a difference it'll make.

The Regal 4bb,10bb Procaster is much more smoother. But my Daiwa BG ,black gold, the old ones were also much copied by Chinese and Banax. The new BG 4500 is awesome. So robust. @@ahmadalghali90 look at the Daiwa Aird X or LT...absolutely beautiful reels. I only use them in saltwater for throwing lures and they are smooth as to use
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
I find that Shimano is not great when it comes to low-end spinning reels. I have all different kinds of reels (like most people): Kastking, Shimano, Penn, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Pflueger etc etc. I think the Abu Garcia Cardinal performs really well for a good price. The Pflueger Trion is a good low-end model, and I love the Penn Pursuit 3000.
Shimano looks better to Europeans. Gold color on a reel is as attractive to me as gold in someone's teeth. All reels should be black. Maybe white, if u want to be exotic, and thats it :) Joking aside, daiwa has more bearings and precision cut gears. Objectively, it is a better value.
More bearings don't make a better product. I would settle for a reel with one quality bearing over a reel with 20 poor rust prone ones. Bushings work great and usually last way longer. I'm not saying daiwa uses bad bearings but I don't think the extra two make it better.

Shimano or daiwa ? For saltwater
same question
shimano gearing system is stronger then daiwa...
I can tell you the diawa manages the line much better.
what do you mean by that
I bought Daiwa Crossfire and on the box,Made in Vietnam :D :D, i see,when fall apart :D :D
Idiot.
Shimano has body for the speed casting and Daiwa Cross Fire has the magnum style .
Reely interesting
Wes Miller have a nice Daiwa
Hello .
You paper sheet is full wrong !!!
The Daiwa is a 1+1 bearing ! The Shimano is a 3+1 bearing ....
Hahahahaha ...
Shimano looks better to Europeans. Gold color on a reel is as attractive to me as gold in someone's teeth. All reels should be black. Maybe white, if u want to be exotic, and thats it :)
Joking aside, daiwa has more bearings and precision cut gears. Objectively, it is a better value.
More bearings don't make a better product. I would settle for a reel with one quality bearing over a reel with 20 poor rust prone ones. Bushings work great and usually last way longer. I'm not saying daiwa uses bad bearings but I don't think the extra two make it better.
With ar switch in daiwa it's no match for any lightest water splash , who needs it nowadays grow up daiwa !
There's a mistake: Sienna has 3+1 ball bearing, Crossfire has 1+1!
Reading the spec sheets id not s review
🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨 ia the best Shomano n daiwa

@@matthewswanegan875 yeah I recently bought a sedona 2500 and a sedona 5000 didn’t really see the point spending extra $40 for a extra bearing and minor sealing . The Sedona where I’m from cost $99 and the nasci $139 Australia’s prices are different to US prices lol and also the sienna’s here cost $56
@@brodiemathews5139 I honestly agree but the Sedona drag is smooth plus it was only $70 and my nasci was $100 reason . The got i got a 1000 size Sedona is too pair it with my brand new st croix panfish series rod !
