Johnny, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked our book (Chronicles of Aeres dude here!) I had to share it because we grew up with the same fantasy media like Willow and Legend and all the same stuff in the 80s that inspired us to make the setting, and that got me into D&D to begin with. P.S. we have a lot of lore videos on our channel about the setting as well.
Sold off a big portion of my funko pop collection to gather up cash from it and put it towards a new LG CX and OLED Switch. Paid for all of it luckily!
All these tech channels Switch comparisons and yours was the best for me, really appreciated the top view comparison, screen comparisons. I'm glad you mentioned that it was heavier, I have been feeling like my original Switch is already quite heavy as a student so I don't think I'll be picking up the OLED yet. Thank you, Johnny. As always, great videoooo
Bought "Metroid Dread" on Friday and played it all weekend. It's amazing, I 100%ed it yesterday and beat it - so great to have a new 2D Metroid after so long! I get the Special Edition today as well.
Love the upgrades on OLED version, but I'm sticking with my lovely V2 for now, it's still functioning very well:) ...I've just started playing DQIIS, and recently purchased Tokyo Mirage, and Xenoblade Chronicle 2 Torna (I've been trying to collect all Xenoblade on switch).
The OLED is beautiful in person and I can’t believe Nintendo isn’t making a bigger deal about the build quality. It just feels so much better. That said, if I had the V2, I wouldn’t have upgraded. But GameStop gave me $260 for my launch Switch, so I felt it was worth it for me personally, especially with how much I play in handheld.
I ordered the Metroid Dread Collector's edition from GameStop and I should have my copy at my house today. My buddy bought me the amiibo set for my birthday and I can't wait to open them up and play with them with the game. I'm picking up Back 4 Blood tomorrow from GameStop and I'm planning on playing with my buddy through the game. Besides that, my buddy and I are playing back through the Halo franchise right now and we've played through Halo 1 CE and Halo Reach and now we're playing through Halo 2 CE in preparation for Halo Infinite! That's what I'm playing right now and I'm excited to pick up Guardians of the Galaxy on October 26th and Super Mario Party Superstars on October 29th.
Brightness is actually about the same on the OLED as the first Switch's. You do get better blacks, a slightly bigger screen, thinner bezels and a glass finish.
I got my brand new Switch OLED yesterday, my first Switch and very happy with it, got Zelda, Mario Kart. Ys Origins, Mario 3D collection, Bloodstained, Xenoblade.
SMT NOCTURNE POSTER ARE BADASS!!!1! Some of my latest merch-buys include CDs with songs by Suara (b/c Utawarerumono), sheetmusic from Xenogears (Me, able to also play it? BAH! Not on ur life!), a Noir soundtrack, Xenosaga 2 guidebook (Mikumari strats without level grinding for two months straight pls...), and... TWO CD releases from the anime Vivy Fluorite eye something-something. One a more conventional soundtrack, the other a bunch o' songs. Vocals an' things. Makes bugger-all sense to me, but it's all great.
Hey Johnny my Nintendo store did have a nice holographic Metroid dread poster set available. Hope it returns in the store if you haven’t gotten one already.
I've got to admit the OLED switch looks extremely tempting. The nicer screen is huge for someone like me that mostly plays it in handheld. The only issue is the price - if it had just a little more juice it would have been an instant buy
I picked up the shenmue strategy guide after your blue stinger guide pickup. Good call going back and getting those guides, so much nostalgia. The amount of detail in the shenmue book is insane!
Duuuuuuude THAT SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI POSTER!!!!!!!!!! Last time I had posters in my room were all rock bands when I was in my 15's. But that one I would have it for suuure now at 25 xD Awesome acquisition man, good taste
Hello Johnny ! The only thing I’ve bought lately is the boardgame ”Aliens-another glorious day in the corps” + the 2 expansions ”Get away from her you b***h!” , ”Ultimate bad***es” AND the ”Assets & hazards” bonus figures. Currently assembling and learning rules for gamenights with my 3 sons.
I picked up that monster boy collectors edition as well. With the current cost of the normal switch cart, it was a pretty good deal…and promptly sold out due to that, I imagine. I’m excited to finally play it. Also, that smt poster is amazing…those are my favorite games:)
I couldn't find that Amiibo anywhere around. Sold out everywhere. Also, about leaving packages....my building uses a parcel pending system and the delivery people just leave boxes outside the lockers for anyone sometimes. I had four packages stolen....so that hits close to home.
According to Digital Foundry's review, the SWOLED actually isn't brighter than the base Switch. It's colors are more vivid (it has a color mode the base Switch doesn't) but it doesn't pump out more nits. They measured this with a fancy piece of equipment.
It's because of these new delivery services that are undercutting the big guys. Canada Post, UPS, Purolator, they all NEVER just leave parcels in apartment complex entrances. I ordered stuff from Limited Run before, and it always used to come by Canada Post. This time it was some service I never heard of before and it was just some random dude in his car that delivered it to my house. Those undercut services only care about how fast they can deliver something and price and they always just leave stuff, like in apartment entry-ways.
I picked up Castlevania Advance Collect on switch the day it released and Circle of the Moon has a been really nice to play on the weekends. I'm a Teacher in Training at the moment so I don't have a ton of free time.
I’m currently playing Tales of Arise on my Xbox Series X and I’m also playing NEO: The World Ends With You on my Switch, they both are amazing games and I’m having tons of fun
I bought Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 4 as a bundle on steam a couple weeks ago. Absolutely loved 1, way more than I thought I'd like it. 40 hours into it already. Other than that, can't remember any other thing I've purchased recently.
I got the Switch OLED as well, and as someone who upgraded from a Switch Lite it’s nice to have a traditional Switch again that can also connect to my tv, but also I’ve tried handheld mode and the colors really pop on the new screen so I’ve really been enjoying both parts of it.
The Switch OLED weight difference is only 23 grams (or 0.8 ounces) by the way, barely 5% but yes you do feel it because it is still a bit heavier than what we're used to
That SMT3 Nocturne poster looks stunning. Right on for showing that. I’ve had my eye on it and definitely wanna pick it up now seeing it in all its hellish glory. 🤘
One of the things I do enjoy about these episodes is it gives me a rough idea of what some of the new things have been released gaming wise since I'm really out of the gaming loop these days especially with how busy I am with work during the pandemic.
Got a PS4 recently since I wait for the end of a console life cycle before picking it up. Let's see on my PS4 I bought Bloodborne, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. As well as PSNOW. Got A PS2 again as well picked up FF 12, Onimusha 1 and 2, Wild Arms 3 and a few others.
I can't wait for my order of The Monkey Island Collectors set from Limited Run Games. I hate that I missed out on getting the Castlevania collection from them. Hopefully I can get after they have released it.
One thing I immediately noticed on OLED Switch is the true black color. With most modern displays (that aren't OLED) you kinda forget how real black should look. There is always a bit of grey-ish or blue-ish background glow that prevents from seeing real deep black. Because of that dark scenes especially always look a bit washed out. My friend was showing me his OLED Switch (I haven't bought one yet and tbh I don't know if I should, as my original still works perfectly) and I was like: wow, the black really looks... you know... black lol.
Went out and grabbed Metroid Dread when my local GameStop opened. I wasn't expecting to nab the dread amiibo since they're impossible to find online, but they had some in stock that weren't part of any pre-orders so you better believe I grabbed them. Still haven't beaten the game, but I've been loving everything I've played.
I agree with you on the preference for the Super Famicom versions of games. The Japanese version of F-Zero is still in English, and the backstory for Captain Falcon on the label is worth it, especially since the SFC version was cheaper on eBay when I got it. That, and all the good Tetris games were left in Japan.
I picked up Metroid Dread and, I've been having a lot of fun with it. I also picked up Into The Borderlands by Goodman Games from eBay. Looking into running that for a few new players. It contains the original module and the 5e conversion.
That Nocturne poster is so rad, I need one! My latest grabs are La Mulana 1&2 Hidden treasures edition, found it for 40€ and it's a chonky box of stuff! Also found Dead or Alive 6 for 6,90€. Now just trying to finish Nocturne and SMTIV: Apocalypse before SMTV releases.
Great review and additions to your collection! My recent switch pick up: Metroid Dread, Hot Wheels Unleashed & Cruis'n blast. Will likely add Switch OLED at some point down the road.
Great video! Hubby and I grabbed the metroid amiibo, Monster Boy Collector's Edition for the Switch, standard edition on Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2, No More Heroes 1, and No More Heroes 2. We're looking forward to Blaster Master 3 and the Castlevania Anniversary Collection hopefully sometime in October from LRG.
I've been picking up old strategy guides as well. Got Dragon Warrior VII guide. I love the artwork in it. Each town and region area is hand drawn. It's so cool. I also have Lunar Silver Star Story Complete guide coming. A bit spendy, but it's one of my favorite PS1 games so I splurged a bit to grab the guide haha. Can't wait for that to arrive. :)
I just recently thinking about pick up V2 and then the OLED version come around. I only have the Lite. When SMT V is around the corner, i cant help to play it on my big tv. So, im getting a V2. OLED is expensive and better on handheld mode because of that screen. Im more on console gamer and handheld on the go. Thanks for this review. I feel much better.
Picked up Metroid Dread Special Edition on Friday and enjoying the game so far. Also picking up Doki Doki Literature Club on the Switch. Was recommended from someone in a gaming Facebook group I'm in.
Just picked up Metroid Dread. this is my first Metroid game I’ve ever wanted to play. I hope it isn’t too hard. I also picked up some games for my PS3 just bought guitar hero warriors of rock for 5 dollars and Wolfenstein for my ps4.
What a coincidence, I bought the same Power Stone strategy guide a few weeks ago! I recently picked up Ghost Runner on Switch, Metroid Dread, and a bunch of Game Gear games.
Metroid Dread is sublime! I feel so lucky to have picked up the physical game, alongside the special edition and amiibo 2-pack! I really hope Metroid becomes a more regular series for Nintendo.
Everyone says the joy cons has a tighter fit on the OLED but for me it's way looser.. the left side wiggles quite a bit but I'm not sure if i should return it since it isnt broken..
I absolutely loved monster boy. Fantastic game! Shitty about how it got delivered to you though. I don't usually have that problem because I live in a house but sometimes I worry about packages being left on my porch. And yet again, another amazing episode to make my Sunday better. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Kim!
Most aren’t really expensive but once Metroid Prime was announced, the original Samus Amiibo double pack jumped up very high in price. I think it’s around $130 new now
Played Power Stone so much and unlocked everything even the first person mode. to beat the game in first person mode you must know every map layout along with every object in the map like the back of your hand : D
I've been picking up a lot of stuff but barely have time to keep up with it all - Lost Judgment, Far Cry 6, Hot Wheels, Eastward and Metroid Dread. Last month I bought a new PC because my old one was painfully slow and that has distracted me from newer games because I've been going through my Steam library and trying things out on it. I think I'll just wait and see if a Switch 2 gets announced. Hopefully Nintendo would make it backwards compatible.
Something you missed about the Switch oled is that is has a ethernet socket on the dock. Not much of a big deal at the moment but as the console get older and older i can see more games start to simple stream to the switch because it cant run the games. Square enix porting the Kingdom hearts this way is possibly a sign of things to come.
You have so many amazing collectibles. Would love to see you redo your shelves to show them off rather than just stacks of games. Could be such a cool backdrop🤘
Picked up the Metroid Dread Limited and the amiibos! This is so crazy but I had the same issue with a delivery yesterday much like what happened to you! I was really unlucky and my Metroid Dread Limited which I bought from Amazon was stolen (first time it's happened to me). They never buzzed me, called me on my cell or anything. It just showed on my amazon page as being delivered and there was a photo of it on the ground near the entrance. They fixed it on their end and sent me a copy this morning, but it came in a paper bag and was crushed :( I find the Amiibos are getting out of hand, I tend to buy them on launch as I know it will be overpriced in the future.
Just got the analogue super nt in the mail Tuesday last week and got Xardion in the mail today on snes....also been getting into the new re released toys ...mainly tmnt...gi Joe...ghostbusters...and masters of universe
Working my way through Tales of Arise, but have an ever-increasing backlog of games to play! It'll be either Metroid Dread or Deathloop next, I think. But Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order arrived today, I've got Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition to play, and several Yakuza games to get through before I start Judgemnt or Like a Dragon... And SMT V comes out next month. Life is good :)
The Samus Return amibo I believe ran into 2 issues and was refrenced inregards to the skyward sword amiibo. While most amiibos do sometihng in games they rarely unlocked content or provide a big qol. That set is were the hard mode is locked behind and i am not aware of them changing that, at the same time the made a failrly limited amount of them . Skyward sword hd had I believe a teleportion tied to it or something similar
I'm glad you gave you time to Demons of Asteborg! It's a great retro game and has a good soundtrack. Be sure to play it, I think you'll have a lot of fun. The Mega Drive/Genesis has had somewhat of a renaissance and received a fair few high quality new games over the last 2/3 years like Xeno Crisis, Ultracore, Tanglewood, Paprium, Cave Story, Tanzer and FX Unit Yuki. There's more on the way too.
Just recently picked up Dread and Doki Doki Literature Club. Those Dread amiibos are pretty darn sweet, we could really use a reprint of those Samus Returns amiibos. Great pickups Johnny, that Super Metroid poster is dead sexy!
Johnny got a cutting edge game console and chose Phantasy Star which came out in 1987 to show its prowess. I love it.
😂😂
Your happiness is constantly unmatched by any other youtubers out there, keep the videos coming. Thank you
Sold off a big portion of my funko pop collection to gather up cash from it and put it towards a new LG CX and OLED Switch. Paid for all of it luckily!
Johnny! the sword at 8:38 is actually a usb stick with the game inside.
I was lucky enough to snag ys viii and dangarompa trilogy from NIS America online store when they did a restock
Gets Switch OLED, plays Phantasy Star.
Youre passion and happiness always brightens my day :)
Johnny parties like it's 1999.
Bought "Metroid Dread" on Friday and played it all weekend. It's amazing, I 100%ed it yesterday and beat it - so great to have a new 2D Metroid after so long! I get the Special Edition today as well.
How many hours to beat the game?

All amazing games!! I'm sticking with my switch v1 until there are performance upgrades

But GameStop gave me $260 for my launch Switch, so I felt it was worth it for me personally, especially with how much I play in handheld.
I have the v1 and the battery isn't very good in handheld. Does the oled have the same battery as the V2 or is it an improvement over the V2?
@@lew87ys the reports I’ve seen is that it’s about the same. Coming from the V1, it’s a vast improvement.
@@EmptyZach That's a pretty good deal! I'm assuming because launch editions are unpatched hence the price they offered you.
I ordered the Metroid Dread Collector's edition from GameStop and I should have my copy at my house today. My buddy bought me the amiibo set for my birthday and I can't wait to open them up and play with them with the game. I grabbed up silent Hill on the og PlayStation Friday. I'm thrilled to finally get to play it
They had all three at one of our local trade in stores. I went to try to get em but they were gone.
Hell yeah, Silent Hill is top tier
It’s still available on the ps3 store. I can’t justify spending 100+ dollars on…well, anything right now.
@@opaljk4835 I got it with a box of other stuff for 30 bucks.
Allen Wheeler well aren’t we a lucky duck
I really enjoy looking at your collection
Brightness is actually about the same on the OLED as the first Switch's. You do get better blacks, a slightly bigger screen, thinner bezels and a glass finish.
I got my brand new Switch OLED yesterday, my first Switch and very happy with it, got Zelda, Mario Kart. Ys Origins, Mario 3D collection, Bloodstained, Xenoblade.

I only play my Switch in handheld, so I was really psyched for the OLED model. I grabbed it yesterday, the picture quality is amazing.
I know this may seem weird ... but thank you for just being so positive and happy. :) It really made my day.
Just got a poster for the SNES cover of Super Mario Kart. It's beautiful. Framed, and clean.
Capcom is releasing PowerStone and Megaman Legends vinyls, I hope this means something's coming soon
I hope megaman legends switch happens and MML3 too. :(
I picked up the shenmue strategy guide after your blue stinger guide pickup. Good call going back and getting those guides, so much nostalgia. The amount of detail in the shenmue book is insane!
Favorite gamer channel for sure. Sweeeeeeeet!!!
Coming close to my end with Dragon Quest Builders 2. Also playing Dragonball FighterZ, Tales of Arise, and Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.
I recently picked up all Ghost in the shell and Escaflowne blurays. As for games Assault Suit Leynos and Singularity
Great pickups! And Escaflowne is classic!
@@HappyConsoleGamer Thanks! I agree Escaflowne became one of my favorite animes after watching it 😁
I just picked up cyberpunk 2077 for $8 from target. Will wait till the 1.4 patch to play it but that seemed like a great deal.
Walmarts here in the states quit carrying Amiibo as well, but I was able to get Metroid Dread for ten bucks less than any other store.

Last month I bought a new PC because my old one was painfully slow and that has distracted me from newer games because I've been going through my Steam library and trying things out on it.
I think I'll just wait and see if a Switch 2 gets announced. Hopefully Nintendo would make it backwards compatible.
The soundtrack for streets of rage 2 is epic. The "end theme" to streets of rage 2 as well is proper proper chillls. Everytime.
I like the grey joy cons but they don't seem to be producing them to buy alone at the moment.
2:30 "Too Satanic, John. Too Satanic!"
I think the Metroid Samus returns amiibo set only got one print. I’ve never seen it available to order again outside the initial first batch.
They fixed it on their end and sent me a copy this morning, but it came in a paper bag and was crushed :(
I find the Amiibos are getting out of hand, I tend to buy them on launch as I know it will be overpriced in the future.
Just got the analogue super nt in the mail Tuesday last week and got Xardion in the mail today on snes....also been getting into the new re released toys ...mainly tmnt...gi Joe...ghostbusters...and masters of universe
I bought that Power Stone Guide so fast after seeing this🤣🤣. Never new they had one
Kazuma Kaneko’s art is unmatched. These new Atlus artists wish they had half the talent
Awesome pickups John! I loved your review of the Switch OLED as well.
Just recently picked up Dread and Doki Doki Literature Club. Those Dread amiibos are pretty darn sweet, we could really use a reprint of those Samus Returns amiibos. Great pickups Johnny, that Super Metroid poster is dead sexy!
Thanks to you just picked up Grandia collection for switch
