Damn that car brings back memories! Once upon a time those were popular in Finland, Skodas were considered "better cars" among vehicles from the eastern block. I had that car as my first car in the year 2000. Drove it for one season and 9000 km and I drove it hard, never failed, no overheating problems, nothing. The car was severely rusted and I finally scrapped it, I couldn't do welding reparations back then.

But we can proudly say we’ve used it and it was a good car. This 105 you see in the video is still going strong. Has almost no rust. Hope to enjoy it for many more years.
@@MrSkoda105s Yes, winter conditions are tough on our cars. Far in the north in Lapland winter temperatures are well below freezing and salt is rarely used, hence cars up there survive longer than in the south where salt is used abundantly and air is moister near the coast. Back in the 80's additional rustproofing was mandatory and it was performed at the harbor when cars were imported. This was a very good practice considering the poor factory rustproofing most cars had at that time. Nevertheless, my Skoda was completely toast at the age of 13 years.

I was buying some time but after another 3 years the rust went further. I’m still sad that car got scrapped. At this point I’d restore it for sure. But a good thing is that I kept all the parts. I used the engine in one of my other Škoda’s and the same goes for the gearbox. And all the other parts come in handy from time to time when something snaps or breakes. Gave the 105 from the video a good wash this weekend after driving in the snow last week. This one has a good rust prevention. I even did some extra layers this autumn. At some point it needs a new layer of paint but on the other hand I like the patina look of the 34 year old paint. Do you have pictures of your old Škoda?
Great in snow. Only problems I had with mine was earth wire in distributor used to break. I bought a cdi and replaced the distributor. Really great workhorses and very comfortable
@@volt8684 hello to the UK! See this is exactly what I mean. These cars handle excellent in the snow. My mum still daily drives a 105 s, she feels confident with the Škoda on slippery roads. Škoda got winter tires but I remember using it back in the days just with normal tires and that was not bad either. Just drive with care. Has low traction on the rear wheels, so no spinning wheels. Everybody commenting about unsafe behavior of the pendle axles, with normal use it’s fine.
Thnx! The Skoda is technically in good condition. Starts easily and runs very nicely. And that for a car from 1987 which is always standing outside. MrSkoda105s best part is when you took your shoes off, your car i so clean inside. it can be happy because you are great owner. mine car is dirty but i stilll respect it and i dont think i will ever sell it.
Thnx! Try to keep is as clean as possible. It's a daily driver. The other Skoda's are much cleaner. But I can't put them all in the garage. On the other hand now the Skoda is saved from the scrapyard and we still drive it every day. You also have an old 105s?
MrSkoda105s my father used to drive car like that in 1992-1995 amd i have only good memories atached with that car.my first car i used to drive,first mechanic expirience while helping my father repairing it. i am always happy to see someone treat car with respect,in that case we are same. i have one special acr i wont sell while i am alive.

Nice ride! :D I'm proud owner of a Skoda 120L from 1984, myself, though poor car've been suffering the lack of financials for maintenance lately, but I've just started fixing it up bit by bit. My main issue is: I'm not exactly the mechanic type so I'm learning as I go, but so far so good. This ride never left me stranded and compared to other cars it's cheap as dirt xD (while still comfy)

Well you have to think this car was made completely in one country from domestic resources.When I heard from the English people what crap been made in Britain for common people,than skoda weren't bad quality.S105 was the cheapest model made because lot of domestic companies demanded cheap pool car.That time the first MOT test been compulsory after 4years from new.So this car usually been sold for scrap money and replaced every4-5y.

skoda's are known for their jokes the only thing wrong with Estelle's uk was overheating other than that they aren't half bad how many left in Britain? a few hundred. but yeah if VW-AUDI never took them over they would be gone.
these are going up in value. but always carry a gallon of water with you. some estelles uk models 120 I think 130 had 5 speed boxes as standard not bad for a cheap car in the 80's not many cars had 5 speed then 4 speed boxes on a lot of entry level cars. rate them or slate them but its a shame a lot have gone a lot got exported back to Europe from Britain.
michael jagger Yes in the skoda 742 (105-135 rapid) there was a wery idiotly made cooling system, where the cooler was in the front, and the engine in the back, with the cooling way under the car... S100/110 had it better made
That was usually the comment from pub bores who had never been in an Estelle. Working in a Skoda dealership from '86 to 89, I can assure you that a well kept Estelle was a good, reliable, safe, economical vehicle. I bought a new 120 L Five, in 31,000 miles it cost a rear hub oil seal over and above normal servicing......shame my ex wife got to keep it!

xxzz47 benzine naar de carburateur pompen. Er zit een heveltje op de mechanische benzinepomp. Als hij een tijdje stil staat loopt de benzine terug.

my mate had a skoda rapid it overheated up a hill steam was coming in from the back we ran for the hills lol. a bit of water we was on our way again.
