Splendid trio! And typ 742 engine silk rumbling sound is pretty unique. BTW, my record of the slowest idle in early 1289 cc egine - cold with no choke - is 400 rpm. :D

Nice to hear from another abroad Škoda fan. True in Austria these old Škoda’s are really rare. Nowadays these become rare over here too. Happy I saved mine several years ago. Greetings from Holland.
Moc pěkně zachovalé a udržované. 👍🤩
Thank you. The leaking isn’t just from one week. So nothing to worry about. They all do that. Except for my green 105 which has been completely overhauled at VRBA Motorsport. That one is bone dry. 👌🏻
Winter roadsalt destroys cars. Keeping them indoors away from the corrosive salty Winter road conditions and I guess they go on forever. How do you find getting parts for these classic cars? I went to Prague a dozen years back and there were still a lot of 105s and 120Ls on the road then - I was told there were lots of small garage workshops renovating them and even making parts as they made good cheap runabouts for students and older drivers. Less so now, I guess, but I did see a more recent vid here about renovated old Favorits and Felicias being in high demand by younger and other less well-off drivers in the Czech Republic as they were also cheap to maintain, being preferable to many more modern used cars and 'status wagons' which were avoided by those groups as they were just too complicated to fix by amateur mechanics and cost far too much to service and repair.
Absolutely agree about that. Salt kills them, although I have one 105 which still also drives in the winter on salty roads and I must say the car doesn’t seem to suffer that much. But of course all the other Škoda’s never see salt. The red 120 ls was my first car. Bought it when I was a student. I loved taking the car in the winter instead of my bike. Daily drove it for around 3 or 4 years. Then came the green 105 as a daily. In the winter I did took as much care of them as I could. When I realized they were about to become future classics I decided to go on the bike again in the winter and leave them in the garage.😜 Nowadays a modern Octavia combi RS is the daily car so these little cars will only be on the road under good weather. In Prague nowadays these Škoda’s are nowhere to be found. All gone and modern cars parked in the streets. In the past I’ve disassembled a few old Škoda’s and stored all the spare parts. Also went to old Škoda dealerships and bought their stock. On the road-trips we’ve collected many parts, especially in the past when they were pilled up at the junkyards. Nowadays the Czech, Slovaks and Germans have good webshops. Almost every part is still available. Lots of old stock but also new production. And of course there is eBay, Marketplace, Facebook etcetera. Last but not least my Czech and Slovakian friends help me out too. They search, buy and after the deal is done, send me the parts. Really happy with their help. A Czech friend makes body parts for veteran Škoda’s. And the expertise is definitely there. Over here it’s a disaster, most mechanics don’t know the cars at all. I’ll let them service in CZ during my holiday. You’ll get the car returned like new! Luckily Favorit and Felicia have their own enthusiasts and hobby clubs too. Starting more and more to come. Favorit is becoming really rare now too. And to be honest I begin to like them more.
In the 60’s more car developers produced rear engined models. It was a cheaper and easier construction. In that era is was even ‘modern’. Škoda kept this tradition for a long period of time, to be precise until the new model Favorit was introduced. The political party imposed restrictions on further development of front wheel drive. So the ingenieurs already designed a front wheel drive setup for this model, but it only remained with a few prototypes and not mass production. That started with the Favorit in 1989. The last models of 105/120/130/135/136 were produced until 1990 still with the engine in the back. For me real cars are rear engined ❤️ Thanks for your comment!
