Ever since I first heard of Deep Fear, I knew I’d need to play it someday. We need more underwater-themed horror games; Resident Evil: Revelations was so perfect, and I really need something to give me that sense of dread again.
Oh, you love the underwater-themed horror games. Personally I dislike them 😅 that's why I didn't like first Revelations that much... and the first two Bioshocks... or Soma.. or ... haha it's probably my fear of the sea that has a big factor in me not liking such games ✌
@@TheingameDialogues I prefer them cos they actually tend to scare me, LMAO. Something about the water, especially murky water in video games, fills me with the exact kind of fear and dread I look out for when playing horror games. To each their own, tho, but I stand by my point-moar underwater-themed horror pls :)
That, my good sir, will definitely be in the "Modern RE Clones" video. Onimusha alongside The Evil Within and many others. Do you have any game you'd like to suggest to add to that list?
@@TheingameDialogues The Evil Within is a really good game. Besides that and Onimusha, you could also put Haunting Ground and that one X-Files tie in game.
@@captainhyrule9741 Hmm.. well X files the one that released on the PS2 was in the list, but not sure about Haunting Ground. I'll have to do some research about it. It plays like Clock Tower 3 for sure, but Resident Evil? I'll do more research. Thank you very much for your suggestions 🙏
Let's be absolutely fair. Capcom has said Resident Evil copied 1992's Alone in the Dark. The original DOS game used fixed camera angles, tank controls, pre-rendered backgrounds, a mansion, monsters, and you had to solve puzzles to progress. Resident Evil didnt invent this format, Alone in the Dark did. The reason Resident Evil became famous for it was because Alone in the Dark was so old that hardware couldnt really run it yet. It looked bad and played slow. Resident Evil looked great and ran well. Capcom looked at Alone in the Dark and said "We think we could do this better now."
And I totally agree with that, and knew that there'll be "RE copied AITD" comments the moment I agreed to put AIND in the list. However, Infograms wanted a bit of the cake that RE had, especially that Code: Veronica was a huge success by that time. They had hopes with The New Nightmare but unfortunately didn't get the recognition that RE had. Now don't get me wrong, TNN is still one of my favorite games, and it plays really good. I've always imagined the "RE vs AIND" were like two siblings.. One is a handsome, sigma male [insert Patrick Bateman meme] who is successful, and whatever he does, people would still praise him... and one is an average looking guy that simply wasn't lucky (more of a middle child curse) and whatever he tries, whether it's good or bad, he's still overshadowed by his brother's success haha
I personally believe that Resident Evil is actually an Alone in the Dark clone if you ever played the old DOS games 1 through 3. The first one predates Resident Evil by about 4 years.
I believe that too 👍 Other than Sweet Home being the true inspiration, Alone in the Dark had a huge influence but they don't wanna mention that anywhere.
@@nishidohellhillsruler6731 Hell yeah! I can't play the original RE 1 without having to listen to Wesker saying: "Stop it! Don't Open That Door!!" 😂 every god damn time.. I live for that shit

The Irony of putting alone in the dark as a resident evil clone when the original resident evil straight plagiarized the original alone in the dark
@@jeb791 True that 100%, but we cannot ignore the fact that The New Nightmare tried to look all Resident Evil-ish. Still, TNN is a great game.

Resident Evil is an Alone in the dark clone, not the other way around.
Isn't bad voice acting an integral part of a classic RE game, though?
