Game was way ahead of its time back then, this game was the one that brought me into a new world of online gaming competitively and they took out my favorite part of the game
I have it on my ps3...but I never finished part 1. I played and beat part 2 this past February and was blown away....but I didn't realize that p2 was a prequel
You should finish the first one. I was blown away by it when it first came out. Dutch was apart of the game but he was more mysterious in a way because you as the player still don't know the full story even after beating the game. Rdr2 gave so much more context in a well written way and elevated the first game.
At the end of the day - is it a better game than 99.99% of all the other games ever made? Yes it is. So stop crying about the price and just wait for a sale. Newcomers need to play this game. It’s nothing short than a masterpiece.
Ngl I had to get it due to my addiction to rdr2 and I had only finished rdr1 once and couldn’t totally remember the details that tied into the rdr2 story. As soon as I heard John yell Bills name I’ve come for you , I was happy I got it.
I don’t think I’ve seen ANYONE else talk about this, but I prefer the ballistics of RDR1 over RDR2. Or at least the aesthetic of it. I like that you can barely see the bullet. Seems more realistic and satisfying. Don’t really care for the bullet lines in RDR2. Makes them feel more like lasers than bullets.
Dont buy the game pls. Save your money to buy a different game. I just bought the game out of curiousity and the games feels really slow and the response time of the character is very slow
RDR is one of my favorite games of all time, but I'm simply not gonna pay $50 for a game that I've played and beaten multiple times. If it was 20 or 30 dollars cheaper I'd consider it, but $50 for a 13 year old game is such an inappropriate price.
I wouldn’t even mind the price if this port didn’t have way to many bugs that are not in the original. The longer I play the more show up. The cutscene at the beginning of the mission where Bonnie is kidnapped just didn’t play, glitched random encounters, glitched enemy movement when on horses, random events from Mexico happening in new Austin. Ridiculous and I’m playing this about a year after release on ps5
For me, the ease of not having to plug in the ps3 makes it worth it. It’s still awesome. If you enjoy the game and don’t have a ps3, or don’t want to unplug your more recent console and plug in the ps3, then this version is worth it. Plus it has Undead Nightmare? I mean come on, it’s damn worth it.
I'm happy and proud of you for stating the price is far to expensive to buy , considering the bare bones has been done. Rockstar ports are now 2 for 2 awful (have I missed anymore awful ports?)
Why are people hating on this game so much? It is still good. And now we can still play it. Yeah i own a ps3 digital copy, but no one told me to rebuy it, I did it for convience and i happy, i csn still play an old game i love but now i can finally pack up the ps3. Just because its a port does not mean a remaster is out of the question, all it means is you can still play a great game for another decade.
I never played rdr1 because I couldn't afford a ps3/x360 back then. Now I am having a blast with it on my PS5 and 4K TV. I can understand why people who played the game before are mad. But for first timers like me, I think 50$ are worth experiencing the epic main game and its epic dlc.
The thing is that the game is 13 years old and it's at a price more than the original release, when you can buy brand new for 15 to play on all Xbox consoles from 360 onwards
@@thedonzhorzh Not at one point in my comment did I assume you or anyone got an Xbox, I have just pointed out the glaring point of prices between both consoles, if I wanted to be funny the reason why people are pissed off because Take2/Sony have stopped it been digitally played on PS3, so to play it now for new players or people who down own it on Playstation. So if they want to play a PORT not upgrade then they have to pay $/£50 for a game that was released at $/£40 new 13 years ago. (Also it's digital not a physical copy which is cheaper) So for Playstation owners are being screwed over by greed of Take2/Sony where people who own a Xbox can buy it brand new for $/£15 which works through backwards compatibility and on Series X is native 4K locked 30fps where on PS4/5 still has the original frame drops at parts of the game but yeah your right 50 is a good price 🤦 A fool and their money right 😂
Dude. The developers at Rockstar said that this game was made with RAGE 3.5, an awkward transition between gta 5 and gta 4, which caused the game, and engine files to be lost forever. That's why it has literally no improvements, they want to give the illusion that they can improve it, even though they literally can't.
I absolutely love this game, and I was sad that I couldn't play it on the PS4. Finally the time has come, and it turns out I just can't justify spending £40 on a 13 year old game that's had basically nothing done to it at all. I don't wish to hate on Sony but it's kind of making them look like they didn't make the PS5 and PS4 properly backwards compatible on purpose, because there's no other reason anyone would actually buy the PS4 version of this if they could run the PS3 version - which you can pretty much pick up for pocket change.
Cockstar hasn't done much for gamers since my high skool kid was in grade skool. Cleaning up some resolution, and letting me play on ps4 would be well worth $20-ish. But at $50...I'll keep my ps3 connected to my TV
PS5 can be powered and they pick half and half again 120 system cut to 60 fps than back to 30fps FPS locked at 30fps this what gamer want rockstar 0% wanted it 100% wanted their 120fps ps5 to run it locked at 120hz like it should be
Same parent company. They will sell a lot for 50 bucks and when it stop selling they will drop the price. There is cold calculation behind every price in the market.
Oh no. It wasn't made super pretty pretty shiny shiny for the latest overpriced TV's and it doesn't have multiplayer, which most players even on the original release chose to turn into massive online deathmatch sessions. Whatever shall I do? A good game is a good game regardless of if it's super ultra high def or some "pixel art" title. As long as they run right and are fun to play I'm there.
I would have had no problem paying $50 for this game on day one if it had been remastered in the RDR2 engine. This lazy port is yet another kick to the face of all of Rockstar's true fans.
I have mixed feelings on this, on one hand, i'm happy it wasn't remastered because remasters are often tasteless and ruin the original art direction and appearance of old games, they crank up the brightness and oversaturate, and in worse cases, do even more than ruining the graphics, like censoring old content for "modern audiences". So i'm thankful it was unspoiled and unchanged except for a appreciated 60fps option and allowing me to disable motion blur(appreciated QoL options) However, a port of a 2010 game is worth 10-20$, not 50. So Rockstar is very greedy selling this for 50. But since I never finished the original on ps3 I bit the bullet and bought it anyway, but anyone who finished it before should wait for a sale.
Should be a massive discount to download for anyone owning the original PS3 disc - is there not a way (whilst obviously it cant run direct off the PS3 disc) to at least identify that an original PS3 RDR disc is inside the machine whilst playing?
Got the Xbox 360 GOTY edition for cad$14 on ebay, often find the vanilla edition for cad$5 in local thrift stores. RDR2 often goes on sale digitally, I hope people know there's nothing wrong with waiting for a sale for this one too.
Currently playing on xenia xbox emulator. It runs really good now, way better than when I tried a few years ago. On my 5700x/3080 I can run it upscaled to 1440p at a pretty steady 50--60 fps. Its not perfect, but it's also free and doesn't support Rockstar being complete assholes and making hand over fist for nothing.
I still have my game of the year edition that I bought 10 years ago for $20. I installed it on my Xbox Series X and it downloaded the the latest version.

@@calijack2006 I am not asking Rockstar for anything, I just think that it is stupid not to use what they have build and modernized in their latest title.
Why don't you just play red dead redemption 2
Played it 3 years ago on a PS3 via a 3D TV (which improved AA). Looked fab, played well. Great game. Cost $20.
3d tv improves aa?
@@vishaalgargi No it doesn't. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The amount of anti-aliasing is handled by the game engine.
You can adjust the saturation and contrast in the video settings on ps3, which I find helps the graphics immensely, but maybe the improved AA is a visual side effect of the 3Dtv, not the game engine.
@@sten2147 It's more of an illusion than actually helping with AA. I've seen a TV that could make films and some games look like they were running higher than the target frame rate.
Ps3 didn't hit 30 FPS on some places 😅
I don't understand why rdr1 map was updated in rdr2 but then unused for the rerelease of rdr1....
The rockstar we knew and loved growing up is dead and there’s no way GTA VI can be nearly as good, even in as much as they can’t be this amazing bastion for freedom in gaming like they used to be, pushing the boundaries of what’s allowed because they made great games. They used to be the best games on the market and poke fun at just about everything inside the game world, but since they’ve become just another money hungry studio who remakes the same game over and over for microtransactions, or remakes games in the most lazy way possible, they’re now just as much of a target for satire as anything they used to poke fun at
While they're not longer hitting nothing but home runs, I'll give them the benefit of a doubt on GTA VI until proven otherwise, they haven't disappointed in their main games yet. Just all their halfassed bullshit in bringing back their older games.
I believe you want to blame Take Two.
@@RagnarokMic it might be a good game, but they can’t be nearly as satirical about everything like they could before where they were the shining example of a top quality game company, now they’re just like an EA. Taking the piss out of things before was fine because no one could really say anything, now there’s so much to meme them about be it microtransactions, shitty remakes, lack of innovation in a decade, crunch and working practices outside the game universe
You have these shysters releasing this old game at this price and then you have the amazing Quake 2 Remaster released for free, or for a modest fee if you don’t already own it.
Nobody plays Quake mate, get in the modern world grandad🙄🤣🤣
60fps patch is out now for PS5. Try it now, it looks great.
The saddest part? It's the number one selling PS4 game on Playstation, right now. People actually bought it & that tells Rockstar, the bare minimum is ok. 😮💨
Serious Rockstar have fallen so so so far since corporates took over. Breaks my heart as they were the coolest company bucking trends when I was growing up. I want to play this again but don't want them to get my money they don't deserve. Makes me worry for what gta 6 will become.
all you needed was 60fps minimum and 4k or more importantly, the multiplayer.... rockstar/T2 has so much money now that they literally resort to spending as little as possible and throwing out whatever they can with as little effort as possible. its seriously taking advantage of gamers and crapping on rockstars once legendary name.
4:24 If this is a PS5 review of a PS4 game, do you mind telling me why there are prompts on your screen for Xbox? 🤔
This is what R* should do with the GTA games from PS2; port those games over for new gens, since they miserably failed at remastering.
I was excited when I heard that it’s coming to Ps5 and I thought that it’s great since I didn’t finish it back on PS3 but when I saw that it was only a port and for 50 bucks I downloaded Xenia Canary on my pc and started playing it and it actually plays well with no issues and I’m having a great time
Like a smart person. It's sad by how many comments of people said they buy it or going to buy it for 50

I loved RDR1! But $49.99 is such a stupid price for a simple port, not even a remake. And no idea why it's a PS4 port not a PS5, we're a few years into the new gen. I guess rockstar's still living in the past.
I wonder if the headless zombie glitch still haunts this game?
The PS4 and Switch versions look like enhanced HD versions.
Complaints about Rockstar’s gunplay always felt weird to me. You can turn the auto-aim off
This port should happened in 2013 0r 14 when ps4 launched but this is rockstar you cant expect somthing good for consumers from them.
The best way to play this right now is probably emulated on pc with xenia and enabling the patches, at least for the singleplayer. I think only rpcs3 supports online with other rpcs3 players
Doesn't run well on Rpcs3 even with a "high end PC". But I'm not sure how it runs on Xenia. I'll be honest I wanted to play this game without issues for years so I paid the 50$ just for nostalgia but I know they went in deep on me without vaseline along with many others 😢
I did exactly that and you are right. I literally finished this game 1 week before it came out and was satisfied with the PC emulated experience with high frame rates and anti aliasing.
@incognito326 You should have saved your money and tried it on Xenia Canary, it runs fine and you can patch it to increase frame rates and anti aliasing all for less then 50 dollars.
I’m glad I watched this! I know it’s like $50 in the US and £40 in the UK, they should of released it for at least $25 and £20.
It's $80 here in NZ and it's not available untill mid October.
This is why Rockstar don't do s*** like this. Cause people complain and b**** about everything. This is why rock star says f*** it. We're not gonna do anything like this. Cause it's a hassle, people, wind and b**** enjoy the game, it wonderful we can play it on your PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
So you think it's ok for developers to take a 13 year old game, take part of it away, and then charge $50 for it? That's an odd take.
@@csolivais1979what's the big deal? They can do whatever they want and price it however they want, it's their game. You don't have to buy it if you don't agree. And this is nothing new, Nintendo has been doing this for years and no one cares. LA Noire got ported at full priced and no one cared. TLOU got a full $70 remake last year and people complained.
The fact that RDR 1 is a 2010 game is irrelevant, the game still holds up and its still better than most $70 games in the market. RDR 1 is a masterpiece with or without its multiplayer (and the multiplayer was trash anyway). Having the multiplayer for the sake of just having it doesn't add anything to the experience. And you already have RDR Online anyway
I knew when this game was announced that Rockstar wasn't gonna do anything to make it better.

if this was a full remake with some RDR2 engine touches, it may have been worth $50. but a "spit and shine improvement" of a game $50 it is not. this is at most is $30 game like other ports with slight upgrades but not enough thats worth an extra $20 on top in my opinion. could of been worst. could of turned out like the GTA bundle remakes.
It's not a 2013 title.
It is a 2010 title.
I'll take your advice to wait but it won't be for a discount. I'll wait for the physical version in October. $50 price tag doesn't bother me.
Imagine paying $50 just to play red dead 1 on your ps5/ ps4 controller
i have no issue with it, enjoying the game
It is worth getting now. Best version on console with ps5. At 60fps unlike on Xbox. Especially now it’s cheap.
The outdoor lighting, sunsets and skyboxes still look better than most titles nowadays.
Other than that, a shameless lazy cash grab from Rockstar. Who would have thought.
Game was way ahead of its time back then, this game was the one that brought me into a new world of online gaming competitively and they took out my favorite part of the game
We also need a repressing of RDR1's vinyl soundtrack/score and a first pressing of Undead Nightmare's.
Yeah I just went a bought a 360 copy for 12 bucks and have been using the xbox 4k upscale. Works just fine.
Rockstar ports are now 2 for 2 awful (have I missed anymore awful ports?)
bought this + RDR2 for 50 usd on sale .... pretty decent deal I think
Wtf.... i was going to buy this for ps5 cause i never played it. But $50 for a port with no upgrades on graphics and not even 60fps option....yuck
Sounds pretty half assed
I never played rdr1 because I couldn't afford a ps3/x360 back then. Now I am having a blast with it on my PS5 and 4K TV. I can understand why people who played the game before are mad. But for first timers like me, I think 50$ are worth experiencing the epic main game and its epic dlc.
The thing is that the game is 13 years old and it's at a price more than the original release, when you can buy brand new for 15 to play on all Xbox consoles from 360 onwards
@@slysi81 "you can always buy it on xbox cheaper" Why people assume that everyone has an xbox?!
(Also it's digital not a physical copy which is cheaper) So for Playstation owners are being screwed over by greed of Take2/Sony where people who own a Xbox can buy it brand new for $/£15 which works through backwards compatibility and on Series X is native 4K locked 30fps where on PS4/5 still has the original frame drops at parts of the game but yeah your right 50 is a good price 🤦
A fool and their money right 😂
I still have the Game Of The Year Edition for both consoles.
I’d buy it during a deep deep sale
No shit it's difficult to recommend, you didn't need to waste people time with a 8 minute, and 2 second video to tell them that.
Cockstar hasn't done much for gamers since my high skool kid was in grade skool. Cleaning up some resolution, and letting me play on ps4 would be well worth $20-ish. But at $50...I'll keep my ps3 connected to my TV

Same parent company. They will sell a lot for 50 bucks and when it stop selling they will drop the price. There is cold calculation behind every price in the market.
Just bought it on Amazon for $40. I just wanted to relive it lol. I gotta say I’m surprised Rockstar didn’t polish it up at all.
As long as they run right and are fun to play I'm there.
i'm playing this at the moment, no complaints from me, exactly as i remember it. its a classic, why change it?
I would have had no problem paying $50 for this game on day one if it had been remastered in the RDR2 engine. This lazy port is yet another kick to the face of all of Rockstar's true fans.
💯
