Yes homecoming has a lot of combat , that is best silent hill for me if don't count remake 2

Gameplay wise, the SH 2 Remake is the best ever. The first SH had clunky controls, even Honecoming too

I disagree and I don't think the remake is a bad game. The first Silent Hill game had better pacing, greater enemy variety, more carefully crafted level design (the remake overstays its welcome), the colision with the environment is less clunky, it's far less repetitive in every aspect, you had more ways to survive besides fighting (turning off the flashlight and fleeing are more valuable options), etc.
A Silent Hill, among other things, shouldn't be a combat heavy game. And I have replayed the first two games just before starting the remake so no nostalgia.
