The reasons why it's two Doheny mansions, one was the father and he built Greystone for his only son and only child. Unfortunately the son died along with the friend inside of the mansion. I just watched a previous video on the Doheny's murder/suicide. This case was never really investigated properly, just written off as a murder/ suicide. Stating that the friend Plunkett murdered Ned Doheny. Due to the teapot dome scandal. In my opinion I believe that Ned and Plunkett was lover and was caught in a compromise position. The police wasn't notified immediately but three hours later. Ned's body showed a gunshot wound to the head and showed powder burns. Plunkett was shot in the back of the head and the gun found underneath his body.
Nicely done video. Beautiful property. It was definitely in Batman & Robin as Wayne’s Manor. Poor Jah ..those apts in Hollywood get pretty stuffy in the summer. A few years ago I went to a theater experience at Greystone which began in the ballroom (with the white fireplace) where a murder takes place. The audience moves from room to room in the mansion as the murder mystery unfolds. 'Who done it?" The culmination of the play has a shooting taking place in the grand entranceway with the checkerboard floor where a victim falls down the stairs as we watch from above. Theater guests are likely aware of the real life mysterious murder/suicide that took place on the property going back to the 1930s which gives the play a special ambiance. Interesting state of affairs, all around.
Hi Jordan, I recently subscribed to your channel and found this vlog and was blown away because Greystone is where my daughter (she lives in Studio City) got married in 1999. The wedding was outside on the grass in front of the fountain. They had a string quartet on the stone patio by the fountain with servers serving iced water with lemon. Very fancy. The reception was in the court yard of the mansion, again absolutely beautiful. Both my daughter and son in law were all from Iowa, so all of the family flew to the "year of the wedding." We all stayed in Marina Del Ray....again Wow. Thanks for sharing your vlogs. They make me feel connected to them by seeing so many places in their world ❤
I spent alot of time wandering around these grounds when my daughter was a toddler. I was never inside it was always closed. Thank you for the memories.
One of my favorite places in all the world! I used to go there and find a place to just sit and read for hours. It’s gorgeous. I never was able to go inside though, would love to be able to one day.
55 livable rooms in the 46,054 square feet of living space. It's a beautiful piece of property, lots of stairs to climb and bricks are on each side of the long driveway 12-18 inches wide, which must have taken awhile to lay those and point them.

I recall where they made a Cole Porter Life story (fiction) starring Gary Grant as Cole Porter and Alexia Smith as his wife Susan. They shot the scene right out on the lawn,sloping down hill. Where there was a pool but it was covered over years later after different films where shot there. Hollywood is the only place I know where they can kill a movie star or an important person related to movies, and get away with it.
They used the big parking lot in back in The Bodyguard, it is where Kevin Costner taught the limo driver how to drive the limo in an emergency, also an episode of CHiPs and an episode of Columbo. Kurt and Anne Douglas renewed their vows there, the Secret Service was there, anyone know why? Also The Loved One was filmed there, a 60s movie.
They also filmed an episode of Mod Squad in there. It looks like it was filmed up in the orchestra pit area. There was a mural on the wall at that time. If I remember right, it was a season 1 episode.
Does anybody remember Mrs. Fuzzybee in Disorderly Orderly played by the great Alice Pearce describing her various ailments to Jerry Lewis. She had the weakest kidneys and her intestines were like a blast furnace in August. She was priceless. LOL.
No, none that I'm aware of. Where I grew up in the Lower Hudson Valley of New York State, T. Fortune Ryan's estate in Montebello was similar to Doheny's mansion, but not nearly as extravagant (and it was only a summer residence I believe). Nonetheless, Ryan's estate is privately owned, while Greystone is public. I'm not aware of any other mansions from this era that are publicly owned.

The Witches of Eastwick was filmed in the Kitchen also. I was forunate to have had a Tour in 1992 when My Uncle worked there for the City.. Beautiful
