This game is very much like every Owlcat game. You either stumble on a broken build and steamroll regardless of difficulty, or struggle through with a normal build and get infuriated by random difficulty spikes. I hope Ben is enjoying it, and that the game gets patched to be a bit more stable before he gets to act 3.
I have been enjoying playing Rogue Trader a lot, can't wait to watch Ben(who is much more knowledgeable about Warhammer than myself) play through it while I continue my own playthrough.
We really need Lewis here too!😊It's been years! The last episode of OpenXCOM 's Season Four was 4 years ago. I wonder if commander Lewis is still up to the challenge of Brutal-OXCE - or at least knowing his fearful heart - of the Hardmode Expansion?😎
Benperor! Just wanted to let you know that even if you aren't feeling great about reading all the lines, you are doing an excellent job. I actually enjoyed hearing you read out the story. Sometimes when I'm listening to videos, I drown out voices that don't seem important, especially if there is ever utter drivle mixed into other voices. That definitely includes NPC dialogue. Listening to you was surprisingly easy to focus on. Honestly if you were willing it would be nice to hear you read out some of the descriptions of what those characters are doing in those text dialogues. I noticed there were some fun descriptions that would have made listening to your reading even better. If you are willing to give it a go, I would love to see you play this more.
Watching this channel actually helped me change my mindset in games from "i NEED to minmax or my brain will explode" to "its _pretty_ fun to muddle through with suboptimal choices" :^)
@@OmnipotentNoodleit's always a mixed bag for me, I enjoy doing things the more fun way, but I also like to be optimal about my builds, I generally find a way to do both somehow 😅
Finally got time to sit down with this one. I've been following this game for a while as well, and have played the holy hell out of the other Owlcat games... and then Ben gives it a go? This isn't a background noise VOD, this is a 'set aside a day' VOD.
Ah yes an RPG with lots of reading, and Bens stellar reading ability, perfect combo. Dyslectic Booknerd, looks like real life was set to Unfair difficulty Q.Q (love you ben!)
Praise the Benperor! Praise Kremlo! Personally I don't really find it different if all that text were to be voice acted vs Ben reading it out himself. Obviously voice acted is preferable as it's less reading our boy has to do himself, but the whole "lot of text = bad for streaming" I just don't get 🤷🏻♂️ But I'm also down to just chill and watch Ben play this game to see what it's like. I'm enjoying his role play as a stuffy nobleman.
Ben got too used to Lewis handling the admin for him, reading is now to much for him. He goes into the boss battle with an unused level up, skips the Tutorial bubble on HEROIC ACTIONS and then complains the combat is slow🙄
As others have said, early versions of owlcat games can be pretty buggy and unbalanced. See: Argenta killing most encounters in the first turn with the help of an officer. Would love to see Ben give this a shot, but with a brain as big as his, he'll probably spot the build even sooner than I did. Arch militant is crazy.
Oof this is rough, watching Ben (the more attentive to detail of the duo) just pressing buttons and not reading or anything, like just OBSERVE… PLEASE!
the opening of crpgs is always the rough part :( I get there is a lot to set up and teach but it would be better if you spread it out a bit more and gave players freedom waaaay sooner >
Jesus, first you choose to make your main character like the boss from IT crowd then you complain about how boring it is while refusing to pick skills because reading is too hard? Whats next complaining about geing broke while refusing to trade because there are too many trade options to buy?
This is genuinely painful. Ben refuses to read the talents or learn from his mistakes. I know he's going to decide the game sucks, just because he's terrible.
I think what annoyed me was the constant complaining about Argenta, like yes if you're doing the option that fires 1 shot instead of 4 shots she's going to do less damage than if she fired 4 shots. She's hands down the strongest member of the starting party and basically carries fights solo in the later game.
He doesn't need to read how to play, he is the Benporer. Reading is for 40k book nerds anyway.. oh wait. To be fair, there is a lot of reading and this probably makes it not the best game for streaming. Shame really, I thought he'd really like this game, I do hope he gives it a fairer go.
A bit more voice acting would improve the streaming experience. This type of game isn't ideal for blind streaming, he needs time to himself to read what abilities do and figure out what he likes.
@@KingBobbito Yeah, especially since he continuously uses Run and Gun to do more single shots despite it making her worse at doing single shots. It's like being annoyed that the TF2 Heavy can't snipe.
I really, really, really wanted to like this game, but this game has more bugs than a Tyranid hive world. By the time I hit chapter 4 I was completely overrun.
Yeah there were a lot of bugs. Most of the worst have been fixed but there are still a few annoying ones and there clear instances of underbaked and cut content in acts 4 and 5 that are putting me off from starting another run.
Yeah, my dude. I hate to break it to you but the game is in a bit of a state. The bugs and broken content increase exponentially as you get further into the game, you better cheese and cheese hard to keep up with the frankly stupid enemy scaling and don't get me started on the terrible ship combat. I want to love this game so bad but it's just not ready yet.
The bugs and broken content are almost entirely in Acts 4 and 5, particularly if you're playing Heretical. A lot of the worst of them have been patched already though. My experience in Acts 1-3 was essentially bug free. I might have encountered one or two maybe but nothing remotely significant.
@@thepiousskull Chapter 1 is indeed very polished. My issues (both technical and general scaling/difficulty) began in Chapter 2 though. I played heavy Dogmatic and boy did the later chapters not anticipate some of the decisions you can make.
@@nocturnal8171 The difficulty scaling is felt more if you aren't making good builds. Fortunately, there are actually quite a few good ones for the player character. Companions, particularly the early ones are a bit more limited but there are still options. I do agree that the difficulty & scaling need some fine tuning though. Space Combat scaling is just ridiculous though given how long it takes to acquire the right ship components. This should be something the address with the upcoming DLC since a major focus of it will be ship customization and adding more rooms & stuff to do onboard. What bugs did you encounter and jow long ago was your playthrough because the only bug I can recall having in Act 2 is the slow AI in one combat. Despite the buggy state at launch, they were quite quick at addressing bugs in the early acts and only recently began focusing on later acts. I'd expect the game to be in a fully playable state by the end of January to early February with the bugs ironed out of the final two Acts.
@@thepiousskull So a "good" build will get you dead, especially in chapter 3. The word you're looking for is "broken". I want to see anyone beat the game on Daring or higher without abusing Officers or Arch Militants. Later fights become a question of kill most of the enemy in turn 1 or suffer.
@@nocturnal8171 I beat the game on Daring only using 1 officer character (Cassia) in my party and not using Argenta for most of it. Also, Ulfar is ArchMil but not busted. Argenta is a very specific ArchMil build.

Was hoping for a series on this, though honestly glad you waited a bit to let some of the bugs ironed out it was rough sometimes.
Agreed, just finished it myself. Loved the game but it was a hot mess.
Yeah, I'm planning on waiting about 6 months before I buy it. That's usually the minimum Owlcat needs.
Still is, honestly. lol
"I wish there was more voice acting"
Skips through half of the dialogue anyway
Lol, lmao, yogscast guarantee, etc etc
I can't blame him skipping Idira's dialogue tbh. Her screeching is like nails on a chalkboard.
Shield My Face! Benperor is at the Helm!
Lewis is about to be exiled from the channel name if he doesn't start picking up some slack!
That dynasty name is some van vonvolkvan nonsense

@Temprael One can always play in story mode....
Would love to see more this Mr Ben!!!

Did he continue playing battle brothers? It was great.
So excited to watch thissss

Use burst fire with Argenta
then do it again
