Do you think you could get a message to Ben for me. I know he's played xenonaughts 1 before and said hes not going to replay it because 2 is on the way. But I really would like him to at least look into a modded run of xenonaughts. The x-division mod is great and it completely changes the game and adds tons of new aliens vehicles and gear. If you don't mind I don't know how else to try to tell him about it.
I love this mod and want to see way more of it. that said, this mod is fuckin buuulshit. the amount of times a regular light weapons have pierced heavy armor like tissue paper and heavy master crafted weapons just bounce of light armor drives me crazy. it has to be related to difficulty. how else could the mod makers justify it.
I'm not sure what's going on in the background but whatever it is it's ridiculous. Some of those blackstone guard were taking hits my veterans in carapace couldn't dream of surviving. I stopped playing because no matter my tactics or gear, every battle just ends in a massacre on my end.
Do you have any videos, of your own or otherwise, that you'd recommend for someone wanting to play this mod for themselves? Ive never played anything with an interface like this, but being able to manage your squad and the variety of weapon and unit options look so fun.
You've never played the original X-com *or anything like it* but want to play this mod? You're gonna have a bad time. Even Ben as a veteran of this kind of game, is being pounded, and he's got the chat helping him - playing on a lower difficulty isn't going to make nearly enough of a difference either.
I got into this type of thing through the xcom files, which was my first experience with the interface, and honestly watching the gameplay gives you a really good idea of how everything works, if you're interested theres no harm in trying!
The xcom files was also my first experience with this game and interface. I'd definitely recommend that over this, because as ridiculous as that mod is, this one makes it look tame.
It is a little confusing. 10 is there, but it was released out of order, so you'll find it before #9 in the videos list for the channel. But it's correctly ordered in the playlist.
Good lord Ben you really should know better by now and stop underestimating the enemies. Of course they can take down a dreadnought with just a few shots from hotshots, and simultaneously tank a plasma cannon. It'd be silly if they couldn't! Of course you can't expect your own guardsmen to manage the same, that would be unfair and actually give you a chance at winning without losing 9/10ths of your guys. The balancing of this mod is so ridiculously in favor of the enemies I had to stop playing my guard run. Say what you will about the xcom files, but at least it was balanced way better, and had fairly predictable outcomes for both sides. Still though, for a veteran at the original game you sure do make a lot of beginner mistakes. Using all your TUs running toward the enemy, when you don't know how many there are, or even where they are specifically, and consequently losing said person. Running into an unexplored UFO to get away from that raptor instead of pulling back behind a building. Maybe the same thing with you being worse at elden ring while streaming is also the case with xcom. The balance of this mod certainly doesn't help if so.
Haha yeah Ben do a lot of wierd stuff sometimes. Like walk INFRONT of an enemy with full timeunits. Not using drills for what they are made for. Wondering why theres no line of sight when there an OBVIOUS ledge infront of the dude. But you just gotta love him for that. =)
My thoughts exactly, but every xcom run with Ben feels like this. Ben is perfectly competent and does amazing things for a few missions with a few units that becomes veteran. He then has a stream where he becomes tired and does absolutely horrendous things with those same units. You can usually notice this when he begins complaining about the balance/RNG every time he takes a loss instead of admitting that he could have gone at it differently. Tough to look at, but it also kind of makes it interesting?
Apologies for the confusion with the episodes, they are all out now and in order on the playlist and the channel.

the visuals and the content of the mod feels great but holy shit the balancing
Glad you had a great holiday! You deserve it!

It's based on the original XCom game, if u watch a tutorial on how to play that then it should give a decent base on being able to play the mod
