idk why you don't have thousands of subscribers i just saw two videos from your channel and i really really like it, i thought you have 100 thousand or something but i when i saw you subscribers i was shocked
Thanks for this. I feel like I could use a lot of help getting my portfolio in good shape. I am trying to move from a traditional publication company to more branding and illustration work, but my professional portfolio is limited to the magazines I’ve been designing, and they are not all portfolio-worthy pieces. I hope you consider making more videos. The ones you’ve created so far are high quality, and you will get plenty of new followers over time. I will try to share your videos when I can. Thanks! ❤️
What a great video, thank you! Found it really helpful as I am just pulling together my first portfolio. Love all your animations and editing too, LOVE!
Ok I have a question tho like how do I build a portfolio LITRTATELY like how do I make it? Do I just make a word document with all my work? Do I go to a website? Do I have a folder on my desktop with it I know what's supposed to go in my portfolio but how do I LITERALLY make it?
Hi hi! I hope my answer will be helpful but .. i am myself just beginning to create my portfolio. So in order to create one there are programs you must use to mix text and image together! Indesign, Adobe illustrator, adobe photoshop are great for that! Word can.. do it for you… but it will be rather difficult to place text and details. Basically you will have designing limits. Illustrator is good I primarily use this program for my brandbooks.
If you have the luxury of Adobe, I would use Indesign or Illustrator to create your portfolio. Another good option would be Procreate. You could definitely use Word as well, since you can place photos into Word Docs. You just might be limited on some creativities. As long as you export as a PDF. PDF is best because you’re keeping the quality of your documents. Just make sure that the typefaces you use are common for most computers, or your PDF will force the person looking at your portfolio to only see a generic typeface. However, rasterizing your text before sending it to the job will allow your PDF to keep the shape of your specialized font, and not lose it. I’m not sure about Procreate, but if you export a PDF from Adobe, you have the option to export all of the pages as one PDF. They will still be separate when opening it, but it will act more like a “book” when viewing in a browser. It will have your different artboards from your document as “pages.” Then just keep the PDF file or multiple files inside a folder on your desktop for easy access! 😊
The knowing when to stop was something I needed to hear I go and go until it’s perfect but it never is so then I stop not on jobs but on even my own personal art work then I come back to it months later to work on it 😂 I got just know when to stop because it’ll never be perfect.
hi thank you so much for your video that's help me a lot especially the last part 😂 I am self taught graphic designing so it's really hard for me to pick outthe subject what should i do for my portfolio but who know what is better if didn't even start it yet!
I've always loved being creative but I've just recently considered building up a portfolio. I wanna show that I'm capable of many graphic design skills and diverse with my creative skills with animations, logos, posters and all that jazz.
Thank you for this information! My problems I’m facing is that my graphics design diploma is 20 years obsolete. I have to relearn updated trends, because I never got a graphics design job.
Hi Rebecca is possible to mentor through this process in setting up my portfolio because it's really really though and frustrating seriously.... I don't mind if you could Kim add me up in some tutorial class for more knowledge...
personnal recap :
1- tell a story
2- focus on your process
3- explain your desicions
4- consider the portfolio itself
5- get sh** done :)
Thank you very much. It’s intimidating because I don’t think it’s good enough but I will expose what I have, right!
Clear, concise, and helpful! Love the color palette!
