- In this video I'm sharing my tips for creating the best design portfolio! If you're applying to art school or interviewing for jobs I think this video will help a lot. We cover what type of portfolio you need, printed, website etc. and how to diversify the work you show and how many pieces you need in a graphic design portfolio! This will also help if you want to get into freelancing, using a website portfolio or social media to show your work!

I've been too nervous and a bit impatient to do my own portfolio. I personally think it was my lack of confidence and knowledge on where to start, but your videos are so helpful! And over the summer I think I'm going to properly organize my thoughts, come together and definitely use squarespace.
how did you end up starting? im about the same, im slef teaching and just feel like im too impatient especially because i want to quit my current job

Thanks for the advice :) I always thought that I should only show about the two best projects, since people don't have time. But good to know that variety is key and I should show all my BEST projects, as long as I don't throw like 30 projects at the viewer.
I like this topic because this was the biggest issue I had looking for an internship. I guess it would be also great focus your portfolio or the projects you show based on what company/tasks you’re applying for. I asked my art director what things does he usually look for in interviews and the main thing I got from him is that he wants to see someone who would fit best in his creative process.

Hey, I just discovered you on here, excellent tips though, I just wanted to ask is it too late for me to start making my portfolio now?
I'm really nervous that my pieces won't be artistic enough? I usually do branding design and would research patterns and Images from pinterest to incorporate in the brand identity, instead of illustrating my own patterns and stuff. I feel like that's somewhat inauthentic? I only have a couple purely illustrative drawings on AI but none of them are in my actual branding designs? Would that cost me?
