'Elderly Yorkshireman sleeps in his car and goes on a day-trip to Barcelona'. Doesn't sound like the plot for a great video, but you make it work wonderfully well Pat because of your honest, down-to-earth style and your youthful enthusiasm. You go on ordinary adventures that inspire us to get out there and make the most of our free time. Thanks for the time and effort you put in telling your story and all the best for your future travels.
Pat you're such a legend. What a great guy, and it warms my heart to see so many others say the same things and enjoy your videos as much as i do. All the best mate
with regard to being in the car and in possession of the keys, as I understand it in order to be charged the police have to prove “intention to drive“ if you have the vehicle set up in such a way that it would not be possible to drive it in that configuration then you should be okay, but I have no legal expertise and what I’ve quoted is just “hearsay“ I lived for around nine years in a large motorhome, I always turn the seats round so they weren’t facing a driving position and lowered the bed so it was impossible to use the vehicle for Travelbefore I started having a drink. It’s nice to see you back on TH-cam Patrick, I’ve always liked your style. I would like to see the return of the underground adventures! Thank you for everything, Peter.
Hi Peter, yes drink and been in a car seems a very grey area and with some of the comments on here it is very risky to be in a car with the keys, after a drink, no matter where you are, so to be on the safe side I won't be drinking much when car camping...... thanks Pat
I have heard that they will arrest you no matter, and then its your job to prove otherwise in court in case they left you. Then you changed everything back, drove home, and crashed or caused an accident! The police won't take that chance. It's crazy because of the camper van/Caravan situation. I have done it once and slept there all night. I only had a few with the intention of telling them I had lost my keys hiking! And would go look in the morning or phone Green flag! Not sure I would have got away with it? Hid keys under a rock nearby incase they searched car, but you will get arrested if they find keys. You might get away with it in court, especially because you tubers have video evidence, but it's the hassle of court and being arrested!
Take it you have never experienced UK police, 50/50 chance if they suspect you of drink driving in the car they will get into the car if it's an arse of a copper you might get a decent one that leaves you alone. If your camping with other camper vans your usually fine, but if your in an isolated spot they and they see a light or hear anything your windows going through!
Patrick, you are AMAZING, such an inspiration. You actually DO, what some of us only dream about doing. I am so glad you had a great day. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. 🤗👏🏻 ✈️ 🎉
Hi there Pat. You must be one of the these rare teenage pensioners. Pensioner by name only. You certainly don't let the grass grow around your feet. I certainly look forward to having a pint or three with you in the Pub Shed and discussing your travelling kit. Take care, keep safe and keep smiling. Cheers. Pete.
Hi Pete, yes no intention of growing old if I can help it, the mind is willing, not so sure about the body at times. Just love these mad one day trips, so much in one day, definitely dee you in the pib shed in a couple of weeks........ thanks Pat
Absolutely brilliant Pat! You're right, thing young keeps you young! (I'm now 82 years on this planet). I just Love the way that you enjoy making your plans and going off for the day to lovely places! I spent some time myself in Las ramblas some years back, spent a week looking around! I wanted to see the Cathedral of Sagra Familia and also went to Park Guelo too! Enjoy your trip, it brought back memories for me! Take care!
Hi Rogar, nice to hear you had been to Barcelona, and the places were familiar , love planning the trios and great when it all comes together ....forever young..... all the best Pat
Good to hear that, I love these one day trips, like mini adventures. You,ll see that a lot of my other videos are about wild camping, something else I enjoy……..hopetokeep you entertained
Pat. I just wanted to say that I am absolutely addicted to your videos, from wild camping to cooking to beer to the shed pub. You are fascinating and very entertaining. As I walked from Totley up to the Angel, then back home via Fanshaw Gate this weekend, I realise how lucky we are in Sheffield. Keep up the good work 👏
Hi there and thank you so much for following my adventures, not really camped too, sounds like you had a lovey walk much in this area, but it is lovely countryside and some nice pubs, lovely food I’m the Angel……..thanks Pat
Thank you Patrick for taking us on your day trip to Barcelona. Experiencing from start to finish was enlightening and an education for us all. Especially in saving our much earned money with your handy tips. Hope you take a well earned foot rest eh. Again thank you so much. Best wishes. 👍😉
Brilliant video once again Pat. With regards to the drinking question, if parked on a campsite it isn't an issue, as it's private land. If parked in a lay by, it would be classed as being drunk in charge of a vehicle. The argument being that if parked in a lay-by and the police ask you to move on, you have to be in a fit state to drive.
Yes I understand that, been on a public road, what's your thoughts of been in say airport car park like Jet parks 3 as I suppose it's private land..... thanks Pat
Just a quick note, you can be done for drink driving or drunk while in charge of a vehicle on private land. I have seen it happen on quite a few occasions.
@pavlovzdog Especially if that private land has the general public using it. It's all seen as your risk to others around you.@patrickdickinson6492 So terminal 3 with all the activity and camera's, would not be a good idea...me thinks.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Barcelona and hope you enjoyed the Stealth Camp in your car. Know exactly where you were as we know the area very well. Don't worry your secret will never be revealed!! Really enjoy your videos and look forward to your next one.
Hi Douglas yes a great little adventure, I was surprised at how few places there was to park up, but can understand local people not wanting cars parked outside there houses......... all the best Pat
We live in South Manchester but not in this area. We frequently visit the area and practically know every nook and cranny. Take care and keep on making the videos and enjoy yourself. Douglas @@patrickdickinson6492
Patrick you need a set of climair wind deflectors and you can have your windows down 20mm and nobody will notice your windows are open and they keep the rain out .very easy to fit I have them fitted on all my cars .stay safe my friend.
Hi Pat what an inspiration you are ,especially to older folk to get out there and enjoy life. I wish you all the best and good health for many years to come 🙏
I really enjoyed watching your one day trip to Barcelona - now I'm jealous, I wish I could afford to go on such adventures ! Anyway thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to watching more content from you.
I know money for these trips can be a problem, but a bit of searching on skyscanner and some bargins do come up, time to put your dreams into rteality possibly.....all the best and maybe one day.......Pat
Well I really enjoyed that! Was so nice to watch you following through with your intentions with your wonderful adaptations to the car. Heartwarming and hilarious in equal measures. Thanks for taking us along it’s really appreciated! See you on the next video Pat. All the best, Sarah
Thanks Sarah, this is my idea of a proper day out with every minute full, when I was at work I got used to working 24 hours non stop on power failures, this is similar but it's for fun and enjoyment. A day in the pub shed next on a similar theme of one day adventures, then I might get my tent out and go and lay in the woods for the night...... thanks Pat
Hi George, you would be surprised how little I drink now, odd days out, holidays and these trips, yes I like a drink, but if you average it out not much more than your recommended 14 units a week…..all the best Pat
I'm here in the states and usually camp at small remote Forest Service campgrounds, or miles from nowhere on dirt roads in my truck camper. In those case I would take a drink. If I was anywhere that might lead to interface with law enforcement, I wouldn't. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for taking us along.
Nice to hear from you, UK laws on drink driving and sleeping in a car very strict, so many people convicted just for being in a car with keys, so not be drinking when car camping......., thanks Pat
Makes my day when you drop a video as there’s never a dull moment. Looks like you had a great time from the stealth camping to the flight then to Spain and back again. When you parked in that country lane I thought you had stumbled on doggers lane lol. Keep up the good work can’t wait till the next one #Thesheffieldlegend. 👏👏👏👍
Love these trips as you say there's never a dull moment , there was a lot of cars coming and going in the night, but turned out to be taci drivers...... thanks Pat
What a great adventure! Thanks for taking us along Pat. You’re a testament to your comments about ageing and can I also just say Pat, I think it’s remarkable that you reply to every single comment on every one of your videos. You are a true Sheffield diamond that’s for sure!
Hi Ginette, such a great day out, 20 hours non stop just loved it, I think the adrenaline keeps me going, if people leave a comment I feel it only right to reply, and so interesting as well....... thanks Pat
Pat, your videos are like comfort food they always make me feel better if I’m having a bit of a shite day. In regards to the keys in the car whilst drinking, I was on a night out with my best friend years ago and we jumped in his car which was parked on a public carpark just around the corner from the town centre simply to roll a cigarette and then go back on the town. He had put his keys into the ignition so the interior light came on so we could see. Police rolled up and arrested him and he got banned from driving for 12 months. So my advice would be stay on the safe side and stick to coco. All the best mate.
Fantastic to watch you Patrick and as always enjoyed watching. It’s great that living in England puts you in a position to do day trips to Europe and at such a traffic price. Well the next Patrick on my list is St Patrick’s day. Enjoy all .
Happy to see you Patrick! I agree with you. Traveling solo is so much easier because you don't have to ask anyone else if you change your mind. I am off to Guam & Japan solo in 2 weeks, and I am in my 60s.
Nice one Patrick, a great adventure and thank you for taking us along, good times and good advice for anyone who would follow your example. Thank you Sir !
Great work Pat. Regarding condensation, my mother in law wiped her windows down with a little drop of washing up liquid. She didn't wipe it off, just left it on.This worked in her kitchen when she was cooking. The laws for drinking in a camper van might be different than those of a car. It probably depends if you are parked on a registered site. I don't know for sure but, it would make sense as you would be off the public roads.Fantastic to see your intrepid explorations continuing.
Yes it was Natalie, but I loved it, something new every minute, just how I like it, and plenty of adrenaline flowing through my body, and what a great nights sleep at the end..... thanks Pat
It was a manic day, every minute occupied just loved it, I did lay down in my car camper after it and slept like a log, best night sleep for ages.....all the best Pat
Thank you Pat for including us in your adventure to Barcelona. What a wonderful way to spend the day! Looking forward to the next video in the pub shed, getting some moonshine in 🌚🍻
Great video Patrick, I use to live just down the road from there, doggers often used that side road, if you ever get a knock on the window you know why 😂 👍🏻
Great video Pat, you are such an inspiration to show what some of the older generation can fit into a day! I would love to think that I could achieve what you do, but at 61 I have been suffering from long covid for the last year & can’t walk far now, it’s just too tiring. Anyway enough of me. You keep well & doing what you do helps keep me entertained! Can never get enough of your amazing videos! Take care. ❤️xx
Hi Sylvia and sorry to hear you been suffering, how it affects people in so many different ways, very baffling, anyway its great to have you along on my adventures, and I hope to keep you entertained for many years.....thanks Pat
I go to Scotland a lot from my home in the West Country and quite often car-camp on the way. I can prepare my car for car-camping in about ten minutes, with a folding bed base to level the sleeping area, curtains with a magnetic strip, and an inverter to supply electric. I would usually have staked out a suitable country lane a mile or so away out of earshot of the motorway, because I live on the edge of the countryside and I would not be able to sleep well in an urban environment with the constant noise of traffic all the time. A car is warmer than a tent and I have never used an electric blanket in a car. A good quality sleeping bag helps. I have camped in December on nights when it is freezing outside and I haven't had major problems with condensation, as long as the windows are open a crack. Wind deflectors - I see you have them as well, help a great deal. A volt meter would give me a better feeling that I haven't drained the battery and won't be able to start the car in the morning. The car electronics do sound a warning if the battery is a bit low but I would like a bit more security with the knowledge of the actual state of charge of the battery. I haven't tried cooking inside, but I have a device called a Perfect Cooker which can cook vegetables and rice, pasta, buckwheat or whatever carbohydrate you like in about 20 minutes and only uses 200W.
Hi Tony sounds a great set up you have there, and a great place to camp up in Scotland, and it's big open spaces. Your electrics sound ok but be careful about draining your car battery, voltmeters not so accurate for charge left in a battery. Your perfect cooker sounds ok, I haven't done any cooking either as often just overnighters, but will be looking more into cooking in later videos...... thanks Pat
Amazing video Pat! Living life to the full and rightly so as there is no rehearsal! You maybe already be aware but cast iron pans are the way forward with induction. The efficiency is greatly improved. I can’t wait to share your next adventure! All the best! 🍻 PS. Some lovely camera work outside the museum 😉
Thanks Graham, yes this is exactly what I had done this conversion for, and it worked great, so comfortable, safe a secure, and stealthy..... thanks Pat
That smile at the end says it all. Great adventure and brought back some good memories from my last visit. Must admit I never found the exotic museum 😂. Keep doing what your doing Pat you bring a lot of joy.
Hi, Patrick. Great to see you back with another video. Regarding the misting on the car windows, here's a tip I was shown by a motorcycle racer years ago that I reckon will solve the problem. Get some washing up liquid and apply it Undiluted to the glass surface you want mist free. Polish it off with a dry cloth, and condensation & misting cannot accumulate. You can use it on bathroom mirrors as well. Motorcyclists use it on the inside of their visors, so it can't be a bad tip!! The only thing you need to be careful of is to make sure you don't have any kind of moisture on the glass when you apply it.
I save the little desiccant packages that come in googs from the store and keep them on the dash of my car. It really help's with condensate and I set them out in the sun on low humidity days to dry out. You can buy commercial ones, in the USA, Everdry is one brand. I also have a few activate charcoal sachets that keep the air fresh. Thank you for taking the time to take us on your adventure.
You do things right!! Perfect trip around Barcelona in the short time & great food! Your style is miles better than polished over the top unreal videos! 😀👍 I will subscribe now thanks 😀
What an enjoyable video Pat. Love your car conversion. You always know how to make good ideas to come to life. First, with your Pub shed and now this. Your trip was fascinating to watch. Those views from the plane were amazing. Can't wait until the mext one. 😁👍
Pat, in 1970 I went to Portugal for 6 months to commission a steel mill. I spent more time drinking than commissioning. Loved the great wines. I always dreamed about going back (for the wine). I'm finally here, full time in a motor home. I never drink in my van. Pity. Left it too late? At 76, I can't drink much anyway so I really don't miss it. I think if you're stealth camping, you can also give it a miss. There's enough fun in the adventures and being sober is real fun. More people should try it. 😊
Your time in Portugal sounded great and good to hear your back there, I think the excitement of stealth camping is plenty enough, and agree give the drink a miss, just too risky...... all the best Pat 😊
A very good video Pat, I find your delivery and cadence to be very soothing and it's nice to see you having a good time on your adventure. I look forward to seeing your next video.
Hi Patrick what a video to watch and I loved seeing some places you showed in Barcelona and brought back great memories for me. I hope you had a lot of fun and adventure and stealth car camping looked real fun. Cheap day flights return sounds amazing as it'll get you to see so many nice cities etc. I hope you do more of these and learn a thing a two as well. Parking car at that spot and nobody thinks stealth camping in car as people walk past. Day trips like these you see so many interesting things and explore too. Looking forward to more of these videos in 2024! Take care and all the best in these day trips and stealth car camping!
Hi there and thanks for commenting, the stealth camping was very exciting, but so satisfying that all my efforts had worked so well, the trip to Barcelona was icing on the cake, very familiar with the airport and travel side so it all went smoothly, but who knows a cancelled flight and your thrown into another adventure, or challenge all part of the fun.......

Great to hear my videos help, and as for drinking and car camping , I think I will not mix them, far too risky..... all the best Pat
What a great way to see Europe, brilliant video Patrick, keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing .

Brilliant as always, "it's 5am and Pats havin a beer" cheers😊
Haha all part of the fun that early morning pint 😁....... thanks Pat
Fantastic to watch you Patrick and as always enjoyed watching. It’s great that living in England puts you in a position to do day trips to Europe and at such a traffic price. Well the next Patrick on my list is St Patrick’s day. Enjoy all .
Thanks Peter, yes lucky with these cheap flights, really opens Europe up, all the best for St Pàtricks........ thanks Pat
Pressing play,I'm looking forward to this.
Brilliant video Pat.🍻
Thanks Andy
Another excellent video, Pat! I'm shattered just watching you 😴
Was a long day but a bit of adhrenalin probably kept me going, certainly slept well after it.....thanks Pat
Nice one, Pat.
Beats sitting at home watching the raindrops get blown across the windows...
You got it, bit of effort and planning and were off oñ a adventure...... thanks Pat
Happy to see you Patrick!
I agree with you. Traveling solo is so much easier because you don't have to ask anyone else if you change your mind. I am off to Guam & Japan solo in 2 weeks, and I am in my 60s.
Sounds a fantastic trip you have planned, a real adventure........ thanks Pat
Nice one Patrick, a great adventure and thank you for taking us along, good times and good advice for anyone who would follow your example. Thank you Sir !
Thank you, a pleasure to share this liottle trip, not everyones idea of fun, but I love it.....thanks Pat
Great stuff! Looking forward to watching this adventure with beans on toast and a brew! Thanks Pat😁
Sounds perfect, great to share it......thanks pat
Great work Pat. Regarding condensation, my mother in law wiped her windows down with a little drop of washing up liquid. She didn't wipe it off, just left it on.This worked in her kitchen when she was cooking.
The laws for drinking in a camper van might be different than those of a car. It probably depends if you are parked on a registered site. I don't know for sure but, it would make sense as you would be off the public roads.Fantastic to see your intrepid explorations continuing.
Thank you for the tips and watching, think I won't be drinking much when car camping........thanks Pat
Instant like! Instant love. Thank you so much Pat for all you do.
Lovely of you to say, great stealth camp and an amazing day trip, just loved it...living life as it should be...... thanks Pat
How fab! What a long day though. Can’t wait to see more adventures 😊
Yes it was Natalie, but I loved it, something new every minute, just how I like it, and plenty of adrenaline flowing through my body, and what a great nights sleep at the end..... thanks Pat
Fantastic Patrick👍
I needed a lay down in a dark room after that.
Top Sheffield bloke!
It was a manic day, every minute occupied just loved it, I did lay down in my car camper after it and slept like a log, best night sleep for ages.....all the best Pat
Thank you Pat for including us in your adventure to Barcelona. What a wonderful way to spend the day! Looking forward to the next video in the pub shed, getting some moonshine in 🌚🍻
My pleasure and great to have you along.....suprising what you can fit in one day........thanks Pat

Keep it up Pat.I love these videos, thanks as ever.👍
Thanks Richard, hopefully more trips in the pip[eline.....thanks Pat
Great video Patrick, I use to live just down the road from there, doggers often used that side road, if you ever get a knock on the window you know why 😂 👍🏻
I was wondering when a car pulled up and just sat there for 1\2 hour..... thanks Pat
Fantastic video Pat. Throughly enjoyed it.
Thanks Anthony, just loved making it, a real adventure....... thanks Pat
PS. Some lovely camera work outside the museum 😉
Yes I was quite surprised to see a scantly clad lady dancing on a balcony, but oh so nice, just loving these trips........ all the best Pat
What a brilliant use of a day!
My thoughts exactly Matt, use evry minute of it.......thanks Pat
Glad to see you making good use of the car camper.
Thanks David a great day out, I just saw a scantly clad lady dancing on balcony and thought I must have a closer look........ all the best Pat

Great video Pat! Thanks for sharing your adventure. I look forward to your next one. (Even if it's just in the pub shed!) Cheers!
Thanks Pete
Hey that sounds a good idea adrian I will have to try it out, as its a big give away that you are sleeping in the car, thanks again Pat
Thank you for the information, others have mentioned it so sounds good, something to try on next car camping...... thanks Pat
Really enjoy that Patrick, glad you had a good time.

Congratulations on hitting 50k subscribers Patrick….looking forward to this one…..👍👌🇮🇲
Thank you, just noticed it this morning, last 1000 took a while with me having a break last year....... thanks Pat
You are the man! Looking forward to more stealth campings.
You and me both!.....will have to see how I fit it in with a bit of wild camping....... thanks Pat
Fantastic Pat, great little adventure, thanks for taking us with you. You are a National treasure!
Glad you enjoyed it and its great to have you share my adventures.....all the best Pat
A very good video Pat, I find your delivery and cadence to be very soothing and it's nice to see you having a good time on your adventure. I look forward to seeing your next video.
Thank you kindly, as long as people find my videos entertaining, then I’m happy…… thanks Pat
Superb Pat lad. Thoroughly enjoyable and great to see you again. Cheers, Garry
Nice of you to say Garry, this was my idea of a fun day out, loved every minute of it, and slept like a log the following night....... thanks Pat
Almost making me wish I was still in England and could try this for myself😊. Another great video Pat!
Hopefully you can try it anywhere, not sure about the cheap flights though.... thanks Pat
Hi there and thanks for commenting, the stealth camping was very exciting, but so satisfying that all my efforts had worked so well, the trip to Barcelona was icing on the cake, very familiar with the airport and travel side so it all went smoothly, but who knows a cancelled flight and your thrown into another adventure, or challenge all part of the fun....... thanks Pat
