Can't stress enough how much my family love watching your videos, Patrick!
You've become a bit of a cult hero in our house!!
Thanks David, very nice of you to say, thanks Pat
You are awesome. You make me giggle and smile thanks Patrick 😊
@Flim Flam it's TH-cam, peanuts and cold Stella as we work our way through these really fascinating videos.
We are a Sheffield family ourselves - I was raised in Nethergreen and moved to Lodge Moor.
Pat's style is just so easy to watch, you feel as though you're with him!
Likewise, been a fan for nearly two years now! Even ran into Pat at a beer festival... Cult hero for sure
and here
Whilst I am raging about this lock down nonsense I am so glad to spend the evening watching your latest video Pat. Thanks for sharing.
Know what you mean, Sheffield's going to be in Tier 3, no pubs, basically like a full lockdown, back to the shed pub, all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 well you enjoy sir. Well deserved.
My 9 year old son says your backpack is like the Tardis 😮. You've become our Friday night viewing and we look forward to seeing your new videos. We particularly like the pub (my husband is now considering converting our shed) and the cooking ones 🍳🥓. Thank you Patrick.
Ha yes holds a lot of gear that rucksack, in the present situation a pub shed sounds a great idea, thanks Pat
Obviously I've watched the video all the way through and now I'm left with a "Warm, Dry & Comfortable" feeling. Well done & thanks for sharing
Great, glad you enjoyed it, thanks Pat
Pat, you are the only man i know who can make ‘hanging a rucksack out to dry interesting ‘ a well done to me for watching to the end 🤓. I love the wild camp videos but seeing what goes into the packing. Preparation and execution of the camp is a real eye opener - especially the Whisky Cheers Rob
Thanks Rob, surprisingly amount of kit a wild camp takes, took so long to describe it all, nearly spit it into two videos.
Hopefully get back out one day, pub shed next I think, all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 has the pub got a name yet? idea - ? - dickins folly ? Lol Cheers Rob
Fab video Pat, you're the other Sheffield Star. Reading and answering the hundreds of comments must take hours. What dedication. My wife was ill for a couple of years and died in July. Your videos of exploring our treasured surroundings have kept me sane through it all. Thankyou. Stuart (Woodseats).
Hi Stuart and thanks for the comments, really pleased my videos are helping people, always nice to hear, look after yourself, thanks Pat
A great way to pass an hour, cheers Pat another fantastic video👍🏻
Thanks, longest one I,be made, but so much to talk about, thanks Pat
Hiyas Pat, I wouldn't even consider NOT watching yer videos to the end! They're great. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you take to make these for us. All the very best!
Thanks, really nice of you to say, thanks Pat
Two words. 'Pat. Legend.'. thank you for keeping us entertained with all of your exploits. Keep up the good work. All the best.
Thank you, so kind of you to say, and glad you find my videos entertaining, back in the pub shed for a update soon, thanks Pat
Hiya pat. Lovely to see you. Hope you are safe and well. Fantastic video. Very useful information. Cheers 🍻
Apart from lockdown, I,am feeling great, and planning some great camps, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 I'm really looking forward to seeing them. Keep safe and well.
I remember when i was 15 and went on a wild camp in the Goyt valley. One night i woke up absolutely shivering with the cold in a cheap sleeping bag. Had to put my camping stove on to keep warm for a while. Anyway when i woke up in the morning and opened the tent to find a winter wonderland of heavy snow. I learned from that experience.......Having the best gear is Wise
Yes And, it might cost a bit, but worth it in the end, and it may last a lifetime, all the best Pat
Hi Pat. Can’t wait to get back to normal, so we can send you down some disused Victorian railway tunnel! I just love those exploring videos. 👍😊
If I can find one near I will be back down there, thanks Pat
Best hours worth of documentary I've watched for yonks Pat.....I half expected you to pull out a Christmas tree when you were emptying your rucksack.
Haha yes you can certainly stuff a lot of gear in there, thanks Pat
Love the videos Patrick. I find them so relaxing 👍🏻. Plus I love outdoor life
You and me Ronan, best place to be, thanks Pat
Thanks for this Patrick. Enjoyable as always.

Thanks Steve, the hot water bottle is pure luxury, thanks Pat
Great to see you again and wish you Happy Christmas and a good New Year,Be Safe Be Blessed.

Great stuff - thanks for going to the trouble of all the detail. Really useful. 👍
Enjoyed making it Dan, thanks Pat
Thanks Pat for another top quality video. It was particularly good to see how you go about looking after your equipment. A lot of other you tubers don't go into the 'less sexy' side of gear care.
Patrick Dickinson.
The man.
The myth.
The Legend.
Thanks, yes hopefully it will last me out if I look after it, all the best Pat
Yep, all the way through. Another great video. 👏👏👏🍻 M
Thanks Mark
Great video Pat, a couple of ideas for me to use, thank you.
That's good, thanks Pat
Just when I need a lift in the youtube world, Patrick comes through. Thanks for your time and effort Pat.
I don't have a pub shed but I have a hammock hanging up in the shed.
We all need a lift at times especially at these times, so glad it helps, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 I thought you would be giving you final thoughts in the pub shed, it would be fitting for the end of your camping outings having a pint at a pub 😋😁
Great information thank you very much for sharing.
My pleasure Domy, fitted in well with lock down rules...... thanks Pat
Loving your work, Pat 👍
Your very welcome Ned, thanks Pat
Hi Patrick,
Many thanks for taking the time to make this video.
A great video full of lots of content and very useful information.
Take great care and very best wishes.
Enjoyed making it, wow, took an hour, all the best Pat
Great video Patrick! I hope you’re keeping well😀
Apart from lockdown, I, am feeling very well, thank you, Pat
You have the patience and effort to make these great videos for us, we should have the patience to watch and learn from them ( of course many and I certainly do)
Thanks Patrick, all the best, Michael
Thanks Michael, nice to be able to talk about my gear, thanks Pat
Watched to the end as usual great keep it up Patrick pub, camp, trees, under ground big thumbs up 👍
Thanks Andrew, always had a lot of hobbies, all the best Pat
I thought very informative, your experiences over decades is helping many now to enjoy camping in all seasons 👍
Thanks Mark
I certainly did watch it all the way through , another great video Pat 👍🏼😁
Great to hear that, around lockdown so a bit restricted........ all the best Pat 😊
And the end still came too soon. Will watch again. Thanks for the insight and wealth of information. I know how wonderful a hot water bag can be. In New Zealand we called it a "hotty Bag." I spent Christmas in the Texas, desert mountains and the night temperature was below freezing. Though I was in the back country my vehicle was nearby along with my 50,000 BTU gas stove. But water was scarce and besides: no hotty bag. The mountains are made of rock, so rock is what used. It was about 8" x 10" x 2". I put it on the stove and turned up the flame until it was very hot but not quite unsafe. (No one came by at that time but had they done so, they would have thought that I was starving.) Then I rolled it up in an old terry cloth bath towel so it would release its heat at a reasonable rate. It helped greatly. Now you know why I had to smile when you pulled out your trusty hotty bag. Thanks so much Pat, for the good company and you will be pleased to know that you are just as great company the second time I watch. Take Care. ~Peter
Hi Peter, yes a hotty, what a great bit of kit, so cheap and simple, but the benefits are wonderful. We have just been told were still not really allowed out camping due to Covid restrictions, so back to the pub shed for next couple of vidios, all the best Pat
Great vid and sound advise👍
Thanks Steve
First class as usual. So much experience, I always pick up something new, interesting and useful from you. And of course fun and relaxing to watch too. Patrick you are absolutely a top top guy. Many thanks and ATB
Thanks Stuart, it was nice and relaxing just to talk about my camping gear, that's why it took an hour. Took many years to build up, and I dare say there will be something new to buy one day, thanks Pat
Who wouldn’t watch until the end? As always an excellent video. Keep them coming Pat. 👍
Thanks Graham, appreciate that, thanks Pat
Hi Pat,
Very interesting video, not a chore at all watching it all the way, felt like 15 minutes.
As ever excellent production and presentation, well done, and looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Dave.
Thanks Dave, did not realize it had took a hour to look at my gear, thanks Pat
Top job mate. Showing how you look after your gear was a new one nobody seems to do that. Stay safe. ATB Kev
Thanks kev, important bit as well !
liked before viewed as always . . . here goes good viewing.
My favourite comments 5 mins and 22 mins 40 secs. . . This has to be the channel TH-cam was designed for.
just finished the video, makes us appreciate your work even more, there's a lot goes on behind the screen. keep em coming cheers pat
Hi Steve, thanks for that, enjoyed talking about my gear, could talk for hours, I nearly did, haha, all the best Pat
Great video Pat...very enjoyable info mate about the gear 👍
Thanks Mal, nearly a hour, love talking about the gear though, thanks Pat
You've inspired myself and a couple of my friends to get out camping as soon as lockdown is over. We're in Donny so seeing the spots you've camped in has got us excited to get out and explore and get ourselves some gear. Cheers Pat!
That's great I,am sure you will enjoy yourselves when you get all your gear together, can't beat a night out in the wilds, all the best Pat
Awesome to see you as always Pat, especially in lockdown. You are providing a fantastic service for those who cannot get out ....Top Man
Your very welcome Olan, and so pleased my videos are helping in these worrying times, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 by the way Meindle is pronounced Mine Dell ;)
Thanks for sharing video, some interesting kit, loved the boots you can wear inside the tent. Nice to see someone taking pride in their kit and looking after it. Stay safe.
Hi Julie, the boots are great for cold feet, not as good as the hot water bottle, but nothing beats that, thanks Pat
Great video, way better than tv, could watch if twice as long so no apologies. Love your enthusiasm and joy of life. Look forward to a return to the pub, you might top that crawl to the Norfolk Arms where things started to get a bit tangled. I’d watch if you posted weekly but I know it’s hard work doing them.
Thanks, nice comments, will be returning to the pub in December, not sure when the Norfolk Arms will be back to normal, pity, hopefully all normal soon.... all the best Pat
Another interesting video pat keep them coming can’t wait till you are out and about again 👍
Be good to be back out, but as in Tier 3 maybe some time, can,t even go to the pub, luckly I know one! .... all the best Pat
A wonderful bit of sanity in a crazy world...once again...thank you Mr Patrick.
Thanks Mac, alot to talk about, but I like talking about camping gear, all the best Pat
Excellent again Pat. Distilling all that info into a watchable video is a good effort. Particularly enjoyed the gear care section - something not often covered in similar gear reviews. Looking forward to future posts! ATB, Garry.
Thanks Gary
Well Pat I stayed the distance, and thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Well done indeed!
Thanks Phil, longest video I have ever made, thanks Pat
Nice one Pat you look after the gear and the gear will look after you cheers 🙂🇬🇧✌️

Last day of lockdown. Let’s crack a few beers and spend it with the living legend. 👌 Nowt like an afternoon watching Patrick.👍
Last day of lockdown, but no difference in Sheffield, still can,t go out for a pint, back up the garden to the pub I think, thanks Pat
Really useful and insightful Pat! Really enjoyed this, can't wait to get out camping again. Peace ✌️
Thanks makes good use of my time in lockdown, great time to plan, thanks Pat
Great video, Patrick. Excellent information and walkthrough. I bought myself a hot water bottle after watching one of your videos a few weeks ago! So simple!
Yes David, so simple and cheap but so wonderful, thanks Pat
Patrick..you are a great inspiration to get out there and camp and see the country. Hope you keeping well.....your friends in the Midlands:)
Lovely to hear from you, hopefully we will all be back out soon, thanks Pat
Absolutely love your videos Patrick. Sheffields very own bear grills. And the fact your a fellow Sheffielder makes it even better for me.
That's good of you to say, thanks Pat
Nice one Pat... Let's see some backyard camping and dehydrating etc...
I remember asking you for a post Camp gear maintenance Video several years ago now.
Here it is ! Fantastic insight on now to get the most out of your Camping gear. Well done !
Finally got there, hope you found it useful, thanks Pat
Fantastic video. So comprehensive in its content and benificial to me personally.Thank you once again Patrick.
Glad it was useful Joe

some great tips pat ,most important for me ,pillow , hot water bottle brilliant your well sorted, cheers
Yes both items provide a beautiful night's sleep, thanks Pat
THANKS I ENJOYED !!!
Your very welcome, thanks Pat
God bless you, Pat! I'm not a camper, but I enjoy your camping videos and I enjoyed this video very much. If I ever get back to England, or if you ever get to the States, I'd love to go camping with you. Take care, my friend.
Hi Thomas and glad you enjoyed the video, all my camping gear, built up over many years in one video, although a long one, all the best Pat
Brilliant Vid Patrick, Nice to see someone do a vid on kit care, it's essential to look after gear. I use desiccant pouches in the bags with my electronics to keep any moisture controlled. I still have gear I use that I bought 30+ years ago, it wasn't cheap then but it's still good now.
Yes a important part, especially when you had spent a fortune on it, nice to see that gear looking new again, thanks Pat
My David Attleborough alternative with nature but wild camping.
Love these videos 📹 😍 ❤
Thank you, appreciate that, Pat
Quality gear, Quality video, Quality presenter !
Very nice Martin, thanks Pat
Another interesting video. Take care Pat.
Thanks Marty
It’s always good to see Pat online. I’ve been up near ringinglow today. Along Stanage edge Burbage edge was really nice.
Sounds a nice walk that, such a great area, thanks Pat
The little luxuries you take seem sensible to me & remind me of the old saying: "any fool can be uncomfortable" warmth, light, a radio, nip of scotch & an amazing view make it worthwhile. Keep up the good work & stay safe.
Thanks Ross, I enjoy the little luxury's 14 hours in a cold dark tent is a long time, thanks Pat
Nice one Patrick. When I first started wild camping 4 years ago I watched one of your videos and you mentioned the hot water bottle. Used one on my cold winter camps ever since. Brilliant idea. Many thanks and stay safe. ATB - Dave
Thanks Dave, so cheap and simple, but what great benefits, thanks Pat
Very interesting Pat , a lot of very useful stuff in your video and this will be my first winter wild camping so great to see what kit you have and a few useful ways of keeping a bit warmer in colder temps ... thanks again and keep up the good work 👍👍
Hope it all goes well Andrew
@@patrickdickinson6492 Thanks Pat , I need to get out to keep sampling your Glenmorangie recommendation..... it’s kept strictly for wild camping 🥃
I just discovered this channel and i have to say its fantastic. I live in Dubai and i miss proper wild camping and the Great British outdoors, these videos make me feel like i'm there with you, brilliant!
Hi and feel a bit jealous of your weather, it's damp cold and wet heat, all the best Pat
Hi Pat, another brilliant and informative video👌.Many happy and chilly memories of winter camps in the UK in years gone by before moving to sunnier climes for the last 15 years where winter isn't in the vocabulary . Definitely agree that having the right winter gear is the key to a comfy night. Used to snuggle up in my Vango winter sleeping bag which was rated to -25C . No chance of waking up in the morning and seeing snow or frost outside these days . Stay safe and keep the videos coming 👍. ATVB from sunny Malaysia 😎😷🇲🇾
I,am jealous Razif, we had damp wet cold and foggy weather last few days, very November, but it's the UK, all the best Pat
I like you Pat, your old school but willing to embrace the new. Never afraid to follow your passions. Hope to bump into you on the Dark Peak moors one day. Keep on charming us with your vids.
Thanks Philip, nice of you to say, and, hopefully we may bump into each other one day, thanks Pat
Whiskey and a full English breakfast! Brilliant! Cheers!
Your welcome Andy, thanks Pat
Thanks sir Pat. Very informative video on what and what not to take, I always seem to over pack. I know better from this video. Be safe.
Were all guilty of that, myself as well, some luxuries you just have to take, all the best Pat
Very interesting, some of your camping gear is superb
Thanks, took about 20 years to build up, and there is always something else that looks interesting, thanks Pat
