    2001 Canes was probably the best college team ever.

      Most talented? No question. No team comes close to that assembly of NFL talent. Best overall team ever when considering other metrics like coaching, execution, points for/against, average margin of victory, difficulty of schedule, etc? The *1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers* are slightly ahead of this Miami team, all things being considered. The Huskers beat every single team on their schedule by at least 14 pts and averaged 54 pts per game. The 2001 Miami team really struggled against V-Tech, even after getting 5 turnovers.

      @@persona-non-grata That 95 Nebraska team is not the greatest, there are plenty of teams that would pounce on them and the 01 Hurricanes is one of them. 95 Nebraska didn’t play that tough of a schedule either, they played five teams with first year head coaches and played not only super weak out of conference teams, but the in conference teams weren’t much better and they beat a Florida team that clearly did not show up. The 01 Hurricanes had VT beat 26-3 at halftime and put the game in cruise control, they weren’t expecting VT to come back like that and VT was a really good team at the time and playing them at home was not an easy task. Nebraska’s closest game was against a 3-8 Washington team, that is embarrassing, and they should have had two other close games against Colorado and Kansas State. Colorado got robbed of three touchdowns they obviously scored on Nebraska but the refs called them back on nonsense and Kansas State was coming back on Nebraska but they had to put their starters back in to regain their score margin and to also keep Kansas State from scoring again, which is hilarious. The 01 Hurricanes is the best team to ever do it.

      Agree somewhat. But as time goes on that schedule really hurts 2001 miami. Only played 2 ranked teams during the regular season. Syracuse was the highest ranked team we played. Wooof. That nebraska team was the most undeserving team to play for a natty in the last 40 years.

    • @tdrewman
      @tdrewman 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@persona-non-grata They only played 3 ranked teams the whole season. They had no passing game, so if they were to play a team like lets say.. Miami 2001 team, they would have stopped the running game and then they would have to depend on a QB that was a 44% passer. The 2001 UM team was full of future NFL HOF players on offense and defense,

    Thanks for posting. I'm impressed by how well PSU ran the ball against Miami in the first half, but the Lion passing game was totally overwhelmed. Nice to see Zack Mills get into a rhythm. Defense made a few stops but not enough. Very, very few teams have dominated in Beaver Stadium the way the Canes did. What a team they had.

      They were but 1999 FSU vs. 2001 Miami would have been a great matchup. If you don't think so, go watch the 2000 and 2002 games. 2001 FSU was one of the worst FSU teams of the Bowden era.

      As a lifetime gator fan I will say without any doubt the 2000 and 2001 Miami hurricane teams were the best college teams of all time . People always say the worst team in the NFL would destroy the best team in college . With that said😮 if there was a team to actually pull that off it would be those legendary hurticane teams from turn of the century or nobody . looking back at not just the NFL talent but the NFL hall of fame talent on the field is incredible . Sean Taylor was such a special player for the canes and also Washington in the NFL ..such a tragedy I truly think had he not lost his life at an early age he would have been right there with Lawrence Taylor revis island and primetime deion Sanders as the best to ever do it on the defensive side of the ball. Also Ed reed he was Edward Reed in college then got to NFL and shortened it up . If your an all pro NFL saftey Ed sounds more intimidating then Edward 💯 so I get it 😅😅..Penn State I think made the mistake of honoring a special team from the past or some ex players during this game when Miami paid a visit . The south Dade county boys they knew ahead of time and made sure they they would ruin it for the entire nitney lion nation by bringing all the receipts up north to happy valley this night .. i kind of think this was some late late payback from when psu upset canes in 80s when Miami had like 5 units which kept Miami from another natty as if they had not won any before ..bravo canes🎉🎉🎉 and much respect

    • @bleedinorangeblue903

      Rule 1: thou shall not honor and special Penn State teams or players on the very night you olay the 2001 Miami hurricanes .. they didn't just break Penn State they ripped their hearts and showed it to them still beating before delivering the knockout . This teams swag level was well over 💯 they were the best to ever do it and we're not shy about making that a known fact to everybody . And you could not dispute that . . They were the best to ever do it on a D1 power 5 level..and it would be almost impossible to replicate a roster of this magnitude ever again

    It's no surprise Josh Allen got so much better for the bills after Ken Dorsey became his qb coach. I know those miami teams were loaded but Dorsey was so freaking good too. Miss dorsey as our qb. Think van Dyke is the best we've had since dorsey

    Miami with about 400 future Pro Bowlers is the best team in history by miles and miles.
    They literally had entire season of 1991 Cotton Bowl beatdowns, except for BC.
    91 Cotton Bowl is the greatest game in football history.
    GOAT.

    Those refs tried their best to cheat The U and the Canes came back and gave the middle finger. And on another note, every body hated the Canes cause there WERE nasty, they came and beat the crao of you. I lived those years I lived through their championships, and I'll tell you it's better to be fear than liked and they were feared at one time, and we need that swagger back. We need to start putting the fear of God back into teams. And WE WILL. GGGOOOOOOO CCCCAAAANNNNEEESSSS !!!!!!

    • @steelbuck6777
      @steelbuck6777  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nah, Ohio State got double-hosed toward the end of regulation on the non-holding where Jennings held Gamble twice, then Gamble caught the ball inbounds which was ruled incomplete. Forced the punt and setting up Parrish's big return putting Miami in position to tie the game. This will always be ignored by Miami fans. Also the pass interference was a bad call, clearly should have been defensive holding basically putting the ball in the same spot. I believe Miami was the better team, but Ohio State just won the the battle at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball that night.

      @@steelbuck6777 true story, the refs blew more than a few calls...I watched this buckeye team all year, and they always found a way to win like the 4&36 against Purdue was a good example amongst other. Didn't hurt having eight home games that year either, yet I'll give them their props. Tough gritty

      @@marcusnorris5160 Yes very gritty, but that team was much better than they often appeared. Tressell was a great coach, but he certainly didn't mind winning with kicking and great defense and the offense was often held back by his conservative style. 2001 miami is considered one of the all-time great teams, but I definitely remember the media and many others were saying the 02 team was even better all that year... until the Fiesta Bowl loss. I think the 02 Canes would've posted a very similar result if the played that one dimensional 01 Husker team. Definitely not saying 02 Ohio State would beat 01 Miami, but it would be another great game though.

      @aaronrider4051 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steelbuck6777 despite the losses to Texas and PSU, I think 2005 may have been Tressel's best team. Those were two outstanding teams they lost to, and they definitely should have beaten UT (some OSU tight end dropped a TD IIRC).

    Definitely should have been 70-0. Canes O-Line was moving but committed too many penalties, Mcgaghee Fumbled and Dorsey threw a pick. Plus the ref's hate Miami. Looking back the schemes were very simple, Miami Out Athleted people, and nothing we ran was so smart it just worked because of better athletes. Dorsey was my guy but wow he threw a lot of wounded ducks.
